Facepalm mistake moments

I did two shops a day earlier than scheduled, did not even realize until my calendar reminders popped up. They were accepted so I guess I won't be asked to redo them on a different day. I keep great records, I am very surprised at this error.

What facepalm mistake have you made lately?

I stupidly applied for a shop that I never wanted to do before. I was attracted by the fact I could bid on it which is rare in my city. They immediatly accepted my bid. What a nightmare that shop was. I had inklings it would be terrible but that ability to get a bonus just threw me off. Never Again...i hope. Its no wonder those sit on the boards. Its a shop with, for most i think, a self imposed limit of one per lifetime once they have experienced it.
I did a full revealed inspection at a Shell gas station. When I started to input the information, I realized I was in the wrong place! The one I was supposed to be at was about a quarter of a mile away. And the one I was at was not on the job board for that week.

The next week, that location came up on the job board and I considered leaving it for someone else to do but then I said, no! I'm a moron and I'm going to own up to it! When I reached the counter to make my purchase, the cashier (ne'er too friendly to begin with) gave me a cold look and said "Again?" I laughed and said, "Yep! I wasn't even supposed to be here last week but my brain got stupid! I was supposed to be at xxx so that inspection didn't count." He laughed, too. That's the first time I ever saw him crack a smile so I'm glad I was able to brighten his day.

And, yeah, the check-in function had said I was in the wrong place the first time but it ALWAYS says that so it's an automatic disregard.
i've told this story before. It was one of those shops for Circle K that they release like on Friday and need them done by Sunday...no extensions or re-schedules. I take them and I'm balling. There is this one particular store I hated shopping in because they were always so rude. So I go there and I'm firm but fair.

Now to put this in perspective...you couldn't read the messages on the screen on the pump because it was scratched so much; the carbonated water hoses came out of a cabinet beneath the dispenser then ran in front of the machines to the back--they didn't drill a hole for them; entire shelves were covered in cobwebs; they sold drug delivery devices there.... I documented everything with photos and filed my report.

The location was a Citgo; the Circle K I was supposed to do was two blocks over.

OOPS
I did a shop that freaked me out a little last week. A Sunoco...where I am staying now is a very nice town
maybe because this on an interstate?

The whole cashier area was completely sealed off with bullet proof glass. I could barely see the guy and then he peeped out from a little hole which I used to hand him the money.

Bongs and pipes and kratom everywhere as far as the eye could see.....and that's what was within eyesight.
Who knows what they were selling behind the counter.

Life was passing like a hand waving from a train I wanted to be on
I went to the wrong bank for a checking account inquiry. The banks are two doors down from each other in a plaza, and I was too busy trying to remember my scenario to pay attention to which bank I entered. It was only after I was speaking to the banker for at least five minutes without him mentioning certain things I was supposed to look for that I realized my mistake.

I spent about 20-25 minutes with this dude. The inquiry at the correct bank only took a few minutes as no banker was available to speak to me.

While doing a regular gas station audit, I accidentally gave the clerk the LOA for the debrand inspection. Nobody said anything about it... until a week later when the MSC asked why I told the station they were being debranded. Oops.
I was talking to a banker once using a name similar but different than Rho. For some reason I let Banker look at my drivers license. He said nothing a but few minutes later I realized my mistake DOH!
On the day I was to visit a restaurant, I was feeling a little under the weather due to a lack of adequate sleep (long story). Anyway, I was given a limited list of items to order from the menu. I had planned ahead on what to order, so when I arrived at the restaurant, I pointed at the photo that I thought was my entree salad. After the visit, I wrote up a detailed report...it turned out that what I had ordered was very similar to one of the items on the given list (mine was missing avocado)!
It was with Coyle, anyway, which I don't recommend using.
I took a shop one time because the pin was close to where I live and it turns out someone screwed up on the pin and the shop was 1,000 away.

Whoa!

My kid did a bank visit and someone had messed up entering the address. He arrived where it should be and there was no bank. So, he looked it up online and found the same number matched with a similar street name in a different zip code. They rescheduled for him so he didn't lose the shop but I felt like they should have given him partial pay for the attempt as well since it was their error.
My face palm moment was when I spent over $150 of my own money on a sub-par massage after reading here that the MS company consistently rejects shops.
Was doing a bunch of Metro PCS shops. Did one and realized it was a competitor shop for the Cricket next door. This was back in the day of shop entry at home in the evening, so I figured it out then.
Burger shop where I didn't realize it was supposed to be an online order. I've had other issues with that MSC that were debatable but this was 100% on me.
I recently did a restaurant shop with required visit. Arrive and discover they have 2 bars. The big bar in the center was totally full due to football viewing, other had a seat. So I took it and ordered my drink. Then panicked that it might be the wrong bar. Tried messaging the company but they don’t answer after hours (or during hours IME) so I decided to also do the other bar. When my emails were casually answered the next day, they told me it had to be the main bar so I would not be reimbursed for the first bar at all. The main far f’d up so bad, I felt really bad writing it up (it was nearing closing by the time I got there) and I basically blew my whole fee on the other drink. Reviewed all materials again and confirmed it just days “drink at bar behind or after meal” so ???

The next week, I had a different place and dinner had to be between 6-8 pm. They close at 7 the night I was going. Luckily, that was last seating but seriously, they need to know their locations better. I was freaked out that I needed to do bar and eat a full meal in an hour. No idea what would’ve happened if I arrived at 6:45 for bar and then they wouldn’t seat me after 7. I suspect another drink at my expense. But they also need to modify their info and for Pete’s sake, have an emergency help line.
