Financial fraud on shop

I was doing a recorded shop. And a credit account was opened in my name without being disclosed. Without going into too much detail, would you get a lawyer or assume this is risk of the shop?

Ask yourself if your credit profile is more important than the shop fee. The shop does not necessarily have to be at risk. This is what happened due to the shop, right? I would communicate with the MSC about the incident. But, it is your decision to do what is best to protect your credit file in whatever way you see fit.
That's serious stuff. Helllllll no I wouldn't assume this is risk of the doing the shop.

I don't think there are any Russians / And there ain't no Yanks
Just corporate criminals\ / Playin' with tanks
I don't know if I would do either - contact a lawyer or let it go completely. I would re-listen to the recording (if possible) and confirm there was not a disclosure that I missed. I would contact the MSC and if they provide no assistance, then I would probably contact a credit bureau (there are 3 credit bureaus in the US - Experian, Equifax, Transunion). I believe within their tools you can try to dispute the opening of the credit line.
I reported it as fraud and froze my credit with all 3.
I feel like an exception should be made and we should know the institution that did this. Wells Fargo has been guilty of doing something similar.
The MSC was not mentioned so the client could be named.
Innovis is another major credit bureau. I would freeze my records with them too besides the main 3. So now it's 4
Wyndham. Which previously had a class action lawsuit for the same.
Was this a recorded shop for a timeshare? it's a skeevy business - just appreciate the heads up and reporting as fraud is what I would have done.

Life was passing like a hand waving from a train I wanted to be on
WOW! So you have to give enough info to the client to run your credit and they went ahead and opened an account without consent?
Yes. It’s always sketchy but it’s never been fraud sketchy before this one.
I do timeshare shops. I've never given them my personal info beyond my name. @nolimitem, are you sure you read the instrx correctly? I do not believe you have to provide SSN to them. You are to act interested enough to get them to give you a price and try to "close the sale." I had a sales rep one time tell me they needed to run my credit for pre-approval. I told them i had more than enough cash to buy what they were selling. I pulled up my online banking on my phone and showed them an account balance. That ended the sales rep "pre-approval" request.
We were so early in the presentation we hadn’t even discussed purchasing anything. They said they were putting me in the system. I have also never been asked for this before, and I’ve done a few of them. If it wasn’t a shop I would’ve pushed back further, but we can’t decline the purchase until the sales manager does their spiel. The instructions say you need a certain credit score so it didn’t even raise a red flag. I can afford the points for pre approval. But like no account or anything was mentioned.
