Will wonders never cease

Had the mystery shop day from hell that turned into a two day ordeal.

Things were going wrong right and left. I had seven shop for a company that bonuses. All were gas stations 5 of one type and two of another. Get started and things are going ok for first two shops. At third, there is a woman scraping the window paint off of her car in front of a gas pump for 35 minutes and you need a pic of every gas pump. I eventually asked her if she could pull her car forward so I could get pic and she refused.

My camera battery dies and I had forgotten to put the back up back-up battery in my bag. Go to Walmart to buy a new camera. My daughter wanted one before she left for school anyway. Next shop goes ok. But find out that my memory stick doesn't fit that camera and there is a very small internal memory stick... Back to Walmart.

Spend next hour trying to find the next location. Using address provided and my GPS it maps to a location that we have pictures of me in front of on a vacation 35 years ago. Based on the other street numbers, it seems my GPS is right. Find a WI-FI spot and maquest gives me a slightly different location and the website for the gas station gives me a third location---- same address but in the next town over. Check out both of these and it is in neither of these locations. Give up and finish the rest of my shops.

Am driving out of town and on the way home and catch a glimpse of a big green dinosaur. Since according to the website there are only 3 in my state and I was shopping two of them I check it out. To get that location to show up in mapquest or on GPS you have to use a different city than either the one provided by the MSP or the companies website, but with the same street address. Pull in the parking lot. It is now 8:10 and the place is locked up tight for the night. Get gas at the pump and it prints the address as the one on the company's website. This is actually on a frontage road to the one listed, so the entry to the lot is from a different street. I snap a few pics so I can complain, but figure no pay since I couldn't do most of the shop.

Get home--- Have huge difficulties getting new camera to import so I can use with the software I have to add time and date. Another couple of hours gone. Go to website for MSP.... It is glitchy as all get out. For each click I make I am getting an error message pops up that I have to clear a dozen times before I move on. I teach and in the morning it is our first day of school.

Send off an e-mail to the company explaining all of this to the MSP stating I will work on entering when I get home Thursday. Only response I get is that the dinosaur shop doesn't need time date stamp, but the rest do. Am also told I need to use Explorer. I had sent screenshots of error message using both Explorer and Firefox. It was awful in both.

Work on reports and the 5 take forever because error message continues. I can usually get these entered in 15 or so minutes and it was just under an hour per shop.

Finally get to the other 2 and no problems at all with entering. I enter the shop I couldn't do most of with no or N/A for all the customer service and store interior. My comments are all detail all the challenges I had. I figured I would have the shop rejected and was frustrated, but wanted to make it clear that I had made an effort. If the first shop had not gone so well, I wouldn't of bothered with the data entry.

None of my shops are entered until well over 24 hours after competing and they are supposed to be in within 6. Am hoping I will get at least some pay.

Get home today and fine that I have the max score on all the shops including the one that was mostly unfinished. I didn't even have a single question about it. It was just approved.

Sorry I needed to vent a bit, Am still in total shock that it looks like I will actually get paid for all.

Those pictures of all the pump shops are a challenge. One time I waited for a long time watching for all the customers (this location had a restaurant so I waited until all the diners had finished and left) only to find the car belonged to the CSR! The last one I did had 18 pumps and they send me emails saying there were pump numbers missing. I know they were there, but re-sent them anyway.
Take every cent you made on these and spend it only on yourself....
Yikes! What an ordeal you went through. Sorry that happened.
Sorry, sounds awful, and yes, take your $$ and buy something nice for yourself.
I'm glad you got paid.

Live consciously....
Sounds like my day. 14 shops - second and third of the day didn't happen, well, 'wasn't assisted', which screwed up my timing and had to switch shops around because some weren't open yet.

Finally, 8.5 hours later, I then spent 6 hours entering in 4 of those shops. All gas stations. Won't do those again, at least beyond what I've already signed up for. Every problem you can imagine happened.
How does one have the stamina to complete 14 shops in one day? I'm impressed.
sorry, I just want to make sure i am notified when someone answers my question about the stamina! smiling smiley
You have to pace yourself and not get in a hurry and make sure you are getting all the photos and everything else you need. You also need to eat so you don't get run down. The longer the day the more tired you get.

Sometimes it is not getting the shops done it is getting in the reports before the deadline. The other thing with that many shope is not getting them mixed up.

I will do only 8 gas stations and 2 FF for a total of ten in a day. I learned a long time ago any more than that is more than I want to fool with. Depending on how far away from home I am the more pressing it is to get the reports in.

Part of my limit of 10 shops is the hassle of transferring the photos. I cannot put them directly in their individual folder. I have to transfer the photos one at a time so it is time consuming. There has to be a way to transfer the photos, in a batch, into their folders but with this newer computer I have not found it yet so I do it the long way.
