Freelance writing

Hello all I am new to the forum. Thank you all for the insight you so generously share. It has been helpful. My question is are any of the members freelance writers? Can anyone offer any advice or insight into freelance writing? How can I get started? Can you recommend legitimate companies with potential assignments?

I'm a freelance writer and locally I've become known for my work. What lent credibility is my experience as a newspaper journalist/photographer. I write materials for civic groups and politicians running for office. Politicians tend to pay well and often pay in cash which is pleasant since you don't have to wonder if the check is good.

Right that was my question to begin w/ Anyone? We are asking about legit cos w/ assignments. I am not hopeful.

Demand Media is valued at half a billion dollars. They do hundreds of millions in revenue a year. As last reported, they had $100 million dollars cash on hand. Why would they be going out of business soon?
