Credit cards & points

Do most hotel jobs let you carry your points or are most erased after fee is removed?

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.
While in theory they may remove the points, generally you get to keep them. An exception is where on site they give you a $0 portfolio. There is one 'hotel shop' I know of that does that.
Thanks....we have no control over how the client oversees that, right.

That is my impression, Irene. Back when I was doing hotels and resorts the places were entitled to remove the points since the charges were being backed out by the hotel management a few days to a week after my visit. Sometimes they pulled them, often they did not. I suppose it really boils down to how diligent they were (hmmm. Now THAT could make an interesting shop--see if the hotel backs out a shopper's points when they reverse the credit card charges!) The hotel shop that has you get a zero portfolio before you leave does not have you stay overnight so your charges never go into the system to earn your points I assume. A fringe benefit of that shop was that they kicked up my membership level and then failed to take it back down after the shop.
All of mine allow me to keep mine (AND I LOVE IT!). The shops do not allow me to accept additional points if I have complained about something real (or imaginary as required) but the base points (or double points if there is a promotion are mine to keep. LOVE LOVE LOVE the Hilton ones!

All but one particular hotel chain (starts with 'H' and rhymes with 'diet') usually lets me keep the points, even when the folio is reversed.

From my understanding, it's a somewhat difficult process to remove the points, as opposed to the credit reversal. I'm guessing a hotel manager would not take the time to do it unless they really had an issue with the report or were required to.

Hotels that reimburse for the stay usually have no knowledge of who the shopper was, so I would think that one would always keep the points in that case. You also get the advantage of the credit card points with those stays, so they can be a good deal if you don't mind having the charges sit on your card for a while.

Another thing I have found it that cruises where you are gifted the ticket by the cruise line do not you keep the points for the cruise, sadly :^(

For each cruise I have evaluated, the points have been systematically removed from my account after the report was submitted.
