Windows XP tool bar relocated itself!

Ordinarily, I have a small tool bar across the foot of my screen. Suddenly, it now always opens on the right side, which is very distracting. I have left clicked to examine "properties", checked out a whole bunch of desktop settings and find no option to change the orientation of this tging! Grrrr.

Suggestion very welcome.

Have you tried dragging it back to the bottom?

Yes, all you need to do is 'left click in the blue' and hold while you drag it to the bottom, the top, or the other side and then release. If you want to make it thinner or thicker then rest the cursor on the line between the bar and the text screen until you see the double arrow and left click and pull it larger or smaller.
Yes, but I cannot "catch" any part of it to do so. I have been trying for some time now. I also accidentally widened it, and now cannot make it narrow again! Grrrr.

Click in the middle of the blue and hold as you drag it to the bottom. Your cursor will not show that you caught it but as you approach the bottom you should see it flip down.

Once it is in place, rest your cursor on the top line of it until you see the double headed arrow and pull down. It should narrow for you.
The double-headed arrow is not appearing as it should. that's why I cannot make it smaller. Grrr

Go slowly without holding anything down over the interior edge of the menu bar. If it still doesn't appear, try a reboot because it may be that it is somehow stepping on itself and confused. It obviously worked as it widened the menu bar, so if it has stopped working it probably is tripping on itself somehow.
The only blue on my screen is the background of the main desktop area. Do you mean that or the area within the toolbar? Neither seems to work, btw.

Area within the tool bar to move the tool bar.

Slow creep over the edge of the tool bar closest to the center of the screen to get the double headed arrow.
Ha Ha! I found out why none of the fixes would work. I left clicked inside the taskbar, then clicked on "properties." I noticed that "lock the task bar" was selected. I unselected it, saved, and went back to the main screen. I was then able to get the double sided arrow to narrow it, and then could easily drag it to the foot of the screen.

I have no idea how it came to be "locked" into a new position!!!
