So last night I as googling "What grades keep a child from passing onto the next grade level?" -My poor son...he is in 6th grade and is extremely smart. He has high test scores, but because of his ADHD he cannot remember to turn in homework. He does it, but then it goes into his locker, or home, or in the dreaded bedroom and is lost forever. Anyhow, I got off track...

So I was googling about my son passing or failing his grade level, now all of my ads on here are for Cyberschools and when a child needs help. I think it is so funny we are "watched" all the time.

NOTE to readers...this is nothing important, just an observation and something that made me smile (the ads, not my son failing! LOL)

I have a software engineer in the family. It's a cookie thing. Right now, just reading your post and being on this page, all of the ads are related to academia. I see ads for ACT/SAT Test Prep, K12 Elementary Education Online, Grades 6 to 8 Summer Camp, etc. Thanks, Google AdWords!

That's funny. There is an ad at the top of my page for tests, but the banner ad on the side is Hilton Honors. I spent a lot of time earlier in the week scoping hotels for a road trip

I also ordered from Clinique online for the first time in months and that triggered their ads for days.

I recently started substituting again but only occasionally. The school sends out a computerized confirmation email. Now I am getting emails advertising teacher training!

What I really don't understand is all the dating ads on the email page. I have never used one. I am married. They are for either sex and any at times for any age. They annoy me a great deal. If find those faces looking at me while I'm trying to concentrate on my work very stupid. Those models must be embarrassed with themselves!

I use Firefox with a Flash blocker add-on. I see many fewer ads than I once did.

I guess I should have used the word "gender" instead of the other word for it because the system made it look like I said a bad word above.

I posted about this on another thread. I do not want to have to change any settings. How can we get rid of this stuff?? Where to complain. In the last month it is getting worse. This was not supposed to be how the internet was to work. Free highway of cyberinfo. Now it is all about scamming for $.

Yes, I went on a couple of Internet only mystery shops for some car dealerships and no sooner did I, all the advertisements, in my emails (including other email programs I did NOT use for the mystery shop) and other pages miraculously became for the shops I just did.

Until anyone explains it enough to me, I say it's black magic. Black magic I say. lol

SecretAgentMom, in rereading your post tonight, it occurred to me that your son could solve his problem about homework by mailing it to his teacher. It would arrive late, but it would arrive. You could supervise the delivery to the mailbox.

Thanks Sandra Sue, that is a good suggestion. BTW he didn't fail and was passed. Since the standardized test in April, they haven't done any work at all. The little work they did do counted as double grades and was done in class. LOL

also go to NAI to opt out of about another 30 companies sending ads

I still get ads but not as many

and theyre not ads geared to what I've been googling !

I think Facwebook is one of the biggest "big brother" there is, and people willingly put all their info on there !

GED and SAT tests available on my computer as we speak. I go to a site often that triggers many ads for that subject...yes, we are being watched.
Nice to know someone cares...
