Intriguing post. However, to do "there" exactly as we do "here" is a duplication. In conjunction with that good idea, you would be taking on the admin costs ($, time, pulling your hair out, and spammers). I operate several web sites (PHP forums) and one on my home town, Vegas, has over 5,000 spammers that are cut off but kept for the numbers. You will get there freaks Don. Ask yourself, does your name appear on your mortgage? It can be traced and would be by some freak. If you decline their posts, however, they will send you [postal letters...telling you they know where you live. There are some awful people that are not spoken off often in forums, newsgroups, and you will be the man up top taking the heat, the automated spam engines from Estonia and Latvia and RU, .... In all humility Don, I would suggest against it. I am disabled now and my shopping for the moment, is limited to the telephone and internet. So I have the time when well allocated to handle it and automate it. But well over 50% of my time goes right down the porcelain throne chasing someone else screaming monkey down their street...aka spammers.
Just my humble input...no better or worse than anothers view...just mine.... I'd not do it all over again as I did before. It takes a lot out of a person running one of these simple forums. Sometimes it is not worth the price paid to the person. It is worth it to the valued participant as we see their forum from the outside. Ever seen PHP from the admin side? Its enough to make your hair turn white when it runs in its full blown beauty, and automated as well. But it still requires a lot from you and the Spammers still get through. They are smart and resilient. No one can tell them, and really shouldn't as they push us farther into better security. No crooks no lock and key industry.
And then ya have to keep track of these little ads you see to make sure they are paying properly. It is more work than it looks.
I really like our little family / friends we have here. We learn, we ask questions and we share experiences. I really like it. Oh, did I say I really like it

whoo ever tlls me I have memory issues, well, ...uh, what?

hahahaha
Thats my view. That, and hand full of quarters'll getcha on the NYC subway. ...awready.

Anyone got some kowafee?
