History Channel - Hatfields & McCoys!

Has anyone else been watching this 3-night miniseries?

Hopefully this comes up for some Emmy's because it is awesome! Just curious if anyone else has caught this.

I use to like the History & Discovery Channels (add Animal Planet in there), but they've gone so far off the beaten path of what they are supposed to be, it's gotten annoying. Wish Animal Planet would come up with more of the Houston & Phoenix Animal Cops, and Discovery would put up more Man, Woman, Wild and Dual Survival though.

I have found this to be excellent! Very historically accurate and well portrayed.

Shopping Bama and parts of Georgia.
I'm still learning 24/7.
I had to do some research just so I could follow along on which family member starts which fight; or who ends up on the wrong side of the gun.

The acting is excellent also. I think the only thing that bugs we about the movie is that according to everything I've been able to find - it was NOT filmed in West Virginia and Kentucky.

Yahoo News just reported that Monday night was the highest rated show for History Channel at 13.8 million viewers!

Anyone who may be interested, the DVD will be released on July 31st for $29.99.

From what I understood about watching interviews and commentaries, the script was written as close to historically correct as possible. I think Costner said that they used letters, records, etc.

I just looked on the History Channel and they are playing all of them tonight. My DVR is set.

If you enjoy history, you should definitely enjoy this miniseries.

The 6 hours covers quite a few years, but the acting is superb with Kevin Costner (Hatfield) and Bill Paxton (McCoy's) in the lead roles.

I just saw an article on this show. I missed part 1 but I think all 3 are on tomorrow. They said that it was 30 years in the making and that Burt Lancaster, who died in 1994, was originally slated to play Kevin Costner's role. Nobody wanted to take the show on because they said westerns were out and there would be no interest from viewers. Guess they were wrong!
yeah history is a hit... sad most is not history stuff... now its reality tv: pawn stars or american pickers, which are great but totally staged.... historical fiction: hatfields and other things... or completly off the wall stuff: how egyptians might have had contact with ufos, jesus' tomb...

i dont think it really should be called history... confuses people... kinda like the movies: j edgar, social network, stuff like that... they are movies... not documentaries...

its reality not real... just a pet peeve of mine... the military channel is much more historical...

Glad to hear all the great reviews knowing that this is taking up quite a chunk of space on my DVR! I can't wait for a day off so I can watch the whole thing.
