What are you listening to?

One of the things that makes driving around to shops tolerable (and even enjoyable) is listening to audiobooks. I'm listening to the thriller "Catch Me" by Lisa Gardner right now. Does anyone else do this, and if so, do you have any recommendations?

A lot of other shoppers do the same thing. I just zone out when being read to so it wouldn't work. For long drives I've found streaming comedy on Pandora will keep me alertsmiling smiley

Equal rights for others does not mean fewer rights for you. It's not pie.

Never try to teach a pig to sing. It's a waste of your time and it really annoys the pig.
I listen to my favorite music, Adele (someone like you), Phathom of the opera,
Rod Stewart, Unforgettable (Natalie and Nat King Cole), you get it!! Music relax's me, no thinking needed.

Live consciously....
I'm with Stacy and download books to my MP3 player. I originally started doing that when I was in a rehab program - sure makes doing exercise more enjoyable. I still do it since I live in a state where you can drive for miles between the cities. Right now I'm on the second book of Stieg Larsson's trilogy - The Girl Who Played with Fire.

Stacy - Are you downloading from the library or buying your books? I highly recommend that you use your library for the downloads.
LisaSTL I didn't know Pandora had comedy channels. I'll have to try that. plmccut - I have a subscription at audible.com so I get 1 free download per month, and they often have sales. The library is great when they have what I want, and I should check my city and county libraries more often to see what they have.
I tune to NPR wherever I drive. New, talk, music.

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.
Me too, wales. Total NPR freak. Such varied programming that I am often more than happy to keep it on for hours. Michigan Radio out of Ann Arbor in my neck of the woods.
At the moment I'm listening to Sara Brightman singing Pie Jesu from the Requiem

I put some of my old favorites into Pandora and was delighted when it created stations of music like what I like. I'm a contemporary Christian music fan and now have stations that play more upbeat praise music bit also a station with more meditative worship music for quiet times. Wtg Pandora

I'm listening to an old audio book I had from years ago. It's Crisis by Robin Cook. I first heard it so long ago that it is like a new story to me now.

I also bring a motivational CD program along in my tote bag on shopping trips. Recently, I've been listening to Brian Tracy (when I get tired of listening to fiction).

I used to check audio books out from the library, but stopped when it happened-- yet again-- that I was halfway or more through a book and the CD was ruined beyond help. I found it so frustrating to only be able to hear half the story.

At home, I have some audio books on my Kindle. And I have some "regular" e-books that I am able to listen to on the Kindle using the text-to-speech feature. One of the books is one in a series of novels about a mystery shopper. How about that?!
You might try downloading audiobooks from the library and transferring to an MP3 player. I am absolutely hooked on them. You can get a Sansa clip on for about $40. Charger is about $25. I am currently listening to the third book in Stieg Larsson's trilogy - "The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets Nest." All downloaded from the library at no cost to me whatsoever. I haven't bought a book in a few years.

Is that the series by Elaine Viets? I think that's how I learned about mystery shopping. Her situation seems very different from reality, though, just working for one company and living on what seems like about two shops per week.
Yes, they are by Elaine Viets... the "Josie Marcus, Mystery Shopper" series. Josie DOES seem to be breaking some rules! LOL!

I do the same exact thing- Love Pandora! I usually search/pick a comedian I like and stream similar sets.

I love that. Actually I think I posted a link or something about it on here before. I consider it to be one of my all time favorites songs, if I guess it can be called a song.
