Yes I did it

I'm putting on my hard hat and running shoes just in case. As of 3:17 pm today I have officially finished my Christmas shopping. I'm especially pleased that I finished one month ahead of the deadline I set for myself each year. Come November when people in the stores are losing their minds over the last whatever on the rack and playing demolition derby in the parking lots I can repose happily with a cup of cocoa and a good book and enjoy the holidays.

*ducks for cover now*

yucks, I wouldn't couldn't think of the holidays, except maybe July 4th....
What on eath will you do without all the rush and hassle of Dec. I'd probably lose the gifts or decide something else would be better, I don't roll like that, but then, I'm not as busy as you Cettie, or as organized.
Mine will be started after Thanksgiving....

Woot!! Way to go!

I'm coming right behind you - except one teensie problem! I'm one of those wacko-love-to-shop-Black-Friday peoples!

I know, weird, right? DH and I go out around 4AM (no, we aren't crazy with the wait in line on Turkey Day folks); he and I make a day of it, usually the crowds have gone. Last year we were in Kohls at 5AM and there was absolutely only THREE other customers in there!! Still picked up some nice gifts. He and I make a day of it, we're usually done by 10AM.

Plus, during the year I use my Chase Amazon card and rack up points on Amazon - on purpose so I have those points to pick up quite a few gifts for the kids at Christmas.

PS @ IRENE: I figured out why Cettie is done... She's actually going to turn into a baking fiend and then send out some delicious homemade cookies, breads, and other assorted goodies to all of us on the forums over Christmas!! See - that's why she got done so early!! *I know, news to you Cettie!!*

What!!!??? Cettie, I hate to tell you this but Christmas was last December. Apparently it has come and gone and you missed it. Or perhaps I don't understand your post. Be a dear and run that by me one more time.

Actually, I use the December shops to ship my edible gifts all over the place. I definitely DO turn into a baking fiend, making homemade cookies, sweet rolls, coffee cake, pies, hand made truffles in several flavors and tons of caramel popcorn. These items I also pile into gift bags and deliver them to recipients the week of December 9 or so. In this way the recipients have not yet had a chance to get tired of the sweets and goodies. If you happen to want to sample the goods give me your mailing address and I'd be happy to ship one of my post office shop packages your way.

Irene, you will have to come to my house as Cettie will be on the lam and staying in my basementwinking smiley

Cetties truffles are out of this world! (and the carmel pop corn is not bad either!)
Well, color me green and hang red bells all over me before I spit up tinsel. I'm completely jealous and I may not be able to get over this.

HO HO HO Ill be there Lisa.....with bells on...HO HO HO. I want a stocking filled with truffles (I mean it).

Stockings full of truffles sound like they'd be kinda squishy by the end of a long walk. Please hang my truffles on the tree.

I recently bought dark chocolate covered blueberries, and left them in the car on a 90% day...when I remembered, I got them, poured a glass of milk, and ate them all melted and gooey....still amazing. I would rather have them cold, but anyway I get them works......chocolate can't be bad, they would be wrapped,
right Cettie?

There is no such thing as bad chocolate.

Her Serene Majesty, Cettie - Goat Queen of Zoltar, Sublime Empress of Her Caprine Domain
Unless it is a candy bar with no expiration date from a mom-and-pop store in the middle of nowhere. It has white flakes on it. I have encountered this several times. I take them back where I got them.
Woman, it's June! That should be illegal! Wait. It's June. Well, I can certainly see starting now. Not finishing. Not like I've done either. Ask me in November and we'll see.

Irene, I have been known to lick melted chocolate off a wrapper before. I ain't fool enough to let good chocolate go to waste just because it's melted.
Cettie, you rock!

I am one of those people out Christmas Eve getting those last little things. Last year I did most of my shopping online Cyber Monday. This year I am trying to be good and start early. I got my 2 year old a gift already on a great deal.

I wish I was that organized!
firstly... i dressed up as santa claus and a christmas tree with tinsel and bulbs..on different halloweens in jr high...

secondly i worked as a cart boy at walmart during the christmas rush... worked the eve which is the only day walmart closes... and i cannot count how many people we turned away at the door... one poor man yelled "its christmas where am i going to get my presents?" as he drove off... he was possibly drunk... or depressed or both...

thirdly i am totally not jealous... mainly because i have very few gifts and rarely wrap them... perhaps oneday i will be as organised as you cettie... but not today...

shopping north west PA and south west ny
Cooldude, one year I made myself a Christmas tree for Halloween. I had decorations and working lights too. I used sheets of thick foam spray painted green as the Christmas tree. Really helped in getting the hooks in for the ornaments, too. I had a star on top of the tree, too. I should've entered costume contests but the party I wore it to always gets a little crazy and my poor Christmas tree looked a bit Charlie Brownish after that.

SecretAgentMom, for the last two years, I do my Black Friday shopping online. I don't have to fight the crowds and I've rarely missed out on a deal advertised, unlike in the stores where there might be five and then they're gone. I am too old and bitchy to be fighting crowds so cyber shopping is a great thing. winking smiley
I can't count the number of times I've bought gifts way in advance and when I went to wrap them, not only could I not FIND them, I couldn't remember what they were. I found them while spring cleaning. LOL One was a beautiful garnet ring for my granddaughter (Jan birthday.) She got it the next Christmas cause I made darn sure I remembered where it was put.
To those of you who shop "the busies": Remember the story of the lady (near here, as it was) who used a STUN GUN on others in the store when things got hectic? You KNOW there will be bozos who will remember that and think, 'Hmmm...SHE didn't get arrested...'

Maybe the media makes too much of the deaths, robberies, and injuries that occur those days. I make sure wherever the frenzies are, I'm not.
Great job! My goal to be done each year is usually the end of summer with the exception of Aeropostle shops I am waiting on to finish out the teen nieces and nephews. I am in pretty good shape but need to go over the stash and double check my list and see where I am soon.

I agree its sooo nice to be done before the holidays as then I can enjoy the holidays. I have a cookie party every year and the regrets because they have to go Christmas shopping make me sad. I have time for my party, theatre events, special holiday events AND the last minute high paying bonus shops that come up!

My hat's off to you! I buy ahead too and sometimes loose gift, like the Game Boy gift card for daughter's boyfriend.
I'm just getting started. So far I made my youngest 2 dresses, my oldest 1 dress and have nearly finished a pair of pants for my boy. I still have 2 pairs of pants to do for the boy, 1 dress for the oldest and then something for myself since DH is too buys working to worry about presents. I tell him not to worry, he does enough of that without silly things like that to stress him. For DH I am slowly crocheting a lapghan for him to keep in the car for in the winter.
I just picked up a really cute blouse at Macy's for $11.00, marked down from 49.00, saying I'll save it for the holidays, but alas, just mailed it to my daughter for no reason but, let her enjoy it now.
