IV for vehicle?

I took my car by for service..oil change, filters, etc. The guy setting up the service asked if I had heard about the new IV for vehicles. Anyway, they actually give your car a boost with an "IV" Cleans out all the jets, gas line and every fuel, transmission, brake and every line that "stuff" runs though in and around your engine.

I had it done and WOW does my car drive great!! He said it might take a day or two to tell the difference but I could tell something right away.

Supposed to greatly improve gas mileage too. Cost about $20 but looks to me like it's going to be well worth the cost.

Did they tell you what they used and how often to have it done? Was it done in a fast lube location?

You repeat every 15,000miles. SVC is the name of the product. I have my oil changes done at Wal Mart. I looked out when they were working on my car and it looked like they actually had an IV going into the engine area. Looked sorta weird to me..LOL!!

You might check at Wal Mart for service on your vehicle. So far they are much cheaper and they do a great job, even vacummn your car. They beat the prices of the "fast lube" places.

I've been out in my car most of the day and seems to me....I am getting better gas mileage and the car is running like "new".

I just had my car serviced at Walmart and the associate did not mention that service to me. I'll have to ask if it's available here. BTW I found you on myspace and I was impressed. Your life seems pretty full. Where do you find time to do this?

You did? LOL!! Well, when I was working full time I didn't have time to do anything but work, cook and look after my family. Now that I'm retired and my kids are grown, married and have kids of their own, I can do extra things I've wanted to do for years.

Being the President of a Non Profit organization takes some time but I can Delegate. LOL!! And I do Delegate, the other officers need to feel they are doing something constructive. Granted I carry a lot of responsibility to make sure everything is done and done right the first time.
I follow my husband as he performs or does live on site recordings and we have a lot of fun. I call it fun!!

Mystery shopping is my choice to do what I love to do...SHOP!! I used to get away from the office or home and just go prowl around in the shops. Now I can do the shopping I love to do and have fun doing the shops.
Then I can go back to the office or home and instead of just sitting there waiting on "something" to happen I can write up my surveys. If I get interrupted I just roll with the flow.

I read this once a long time ago and I've wanted to do just as it says.... "When I meet God face to face I want to be able to tell HIM I used every talent HE gave me"

I gave up on Walmart oil changes as well as buying tires from them after needing to get their District Manager involved in 3 separate incidents in one year where they 1) did not tighten the oil plug, 2) took five hours to do an oil change and tire rotation (after telling me there were only 3 cars ahead of me waiting for service) and 3) charged me for one brand of tires (the more expensive) and put another brand (cheaper) on the vehicle.

I found it fascinating that the tread depth on my tires "grew" with some oil changes while "dropping drastically" on the next and being still higher on the next without any change in my tires. I also found it fascinating how many lube fittings they "did" on a vehicle that only has 2. (I believe we topped out at 11)

Flash, I have had similar experiences with Wal-Mart. Apparently, they don't hire real mechanics. I think the ones at my local store have been there a while, though, and it is worth checking out the IV. Probably other places have it as well.

Billienicolosi, I like your quote. I know a little of every thing and, before I got old and wise ;-), I used to say that I didn't know much of anything. I overheard my husband tell the children one time that I am doing what I am good at. It ain't housework.

The fellows at Wal Mart here seem to have been there for a while too. Course we have 6 Wal Marts in our general area but the one we frequent the most could be the best in Automotive. They seem to have a Great Department Manager. I see him out on the floor working with the mechanics. Now they admit they do not do big time mechanic work but they recommended someone to us not long ago who has fair pricing for a major service like brakes, etc.

Flash I'm not sure how they could lose a plug these days. Don't they have a machine that draws the oil out of everything then they replace the oil without having to remove the plug? Then they flush the pipes (heck I don't know car talk..LOL) The only time I see my car or my hubbys truck off the floor is when they rotate and balance the tires.

Way I understand it it's against the federal law to empty oil into an open area. So they have closed containers that draw the oil out of your car and then a Gizmo that flushes everything and cleans the filters.

I'm not good at housekeeping either. Last thing on my list of things to do. I cook, throw the dishes in the dishwasher, vacuum every couple of weeks, do the bathroom about once a week. We have a new central heat and air system so there's no dust.

You would think they would get the plug back in, but I came out of work when I had picked up my car at lunchtime from a morning oil change and there was a huge puddle on the ground under the truck and the oil was off the stick. I had the same problem with an oil change earlier this month on a shop. There are still remnants of kitty litter on my driveway to absorb the oil rather than have it soak into the concrete and/or run off and kill the grass. 2 1/2 quarts of oil I put in after tightening the silly plug this time.

Oil shops all have a "safety check" system to assure this doesn't happen, but obviously their system failed. Luckily both times this has happened I have spotted the problem rather than driving a vehicle with no oil and blowing up the engine. I now watch the space under my vehicle like a hawk after an oil change or other service.

I remember having a leaking plug years ago.  But that was another life-time ago.So far we have had great service from Wal Mart but it could change over night the way things go sometimes.
