Does anyone ever have strange dreams regarding mystery shopping?

I sometimes go through nights of series of strange dreams where I'm a Mystery Shopper and I am in a store where I keep going through departments and can't find the entrance I entered. Or, I'm talking to a salesperson and he/she is savvy to my scenario but acts like what I'm doing is all "natural." These are just two dream sequences that I can think of at the moment. Just curious if anyone else has gone through this "MS dream 'nightmare, and, if so, what you've dreamed?

Hope I'm not crazy here:-)

Bekkicat - I've always dreamed about my work from time to time but not every night, and as a child I dreamed about school. Because a lot of people I've known have dreamed about their jobs on a regular basis, I don't think it's unusual at all. My dreams mostly involve staying on schedule and meeting deadlines.

Mary Davis Nowell. Based close to Fort Worth. Shopping Interstate 20 east and west, Interstate 35 north and south.
I've dreamed of being chased by goats, or wearing the contents of a garbage truck or meeting Satan in post offices. No....wait....that was all while I was awake. Nevermind.

Her Serene Majesty, Cettie - Goat Queen of Zoltar, Sublime Empress of Her Caprine Domain
I got chased by an angry, turban-wearing gas station attendant while doing a revealed audit. I had introduced myself to his wife, and he was in the back room.... came out hollering when he saw me photographing the pumps.

THAT one was great fodder for a bunch of 3:00 am dreams that week.
Oh yeah. I am at the mall, no idea what I am supposed to do. What store? Or I find the store and they have totally different merch than was supposed to be there. Or the classic, NAKED!!
Hope that you do not worry too much. They are stress dreams and some psychologists indicate that this is the way your brain processes stress while you are asleep and could be a good thing.
I don't have nightmares, only very surreal situations in my dreams. Sort of like, well, mystery shopping:-) Some of them could be stress relieving, some, like you said cynb, are all about getting lost in a mall or losing receipts, but most are so abstract that I sometimes wake up laughing! I totally agree with the theory that dreams are a human's way of resolving or coping with stress or insecurities.
I wonder why my pets dream. I had a dog that moved his paws like he was running. His legs didn't move. He would make little barking noises at the same time. The current dog does the barking but not the paw moving.

My cat sometimes meows in her sleep, but very seldom.
Sandra==My dog does the exact thing. I always imagine they are dreaming about being chased by a bigger animal. My dog starts twitching each paw in succession then makes really feeble, high pitched attempts at barking:-) It's funny to me but I'm thinking it's a mini nightmare for her??
One time I dreamed that I arrived at my local mall ready to do a mystery shop and found a trail of blood. So I decided to follow the trail and it eventually lead to a dead body in some dark corner of the mall. I totally forgot about my shop and turned into a detective. I spent the rest of my dream trying to solve the crime, lol. I think I had that dream because at the time I was going through my murder mystery novel phase.

The second mystery shopping dream I had wasn't weird but it was more of a premonition. I dreamed that I was mystery shopping this particular Chinese restaurant in Chinatown, which isn't a part of a chain, it's a small, independently owned restaurant. Then lo and behold, a month later I received an email from an MSC informing me that their client wanted their competitor to be mystery shopped, which was the Chinese restaurant I dreamed about!

Deja vu, Heather. Bet you had a descriptive report being that you already knew all of the details of the location:-)
Wow Heather talk about ESP which I believe exists to a certain degree. When I occasionally have these experiences, it always is when I am sleeping and dreaming. I dreamt about planes crashing into a big building 2 nights b4 911.

Wow, really? I was in NYC two months before 9/11 and was walking around the city. As I got closer to the Twin Towers, I remember suddenly getting this heavy, depressing feeling and I told my cousin, "I don't think I'll be coming back here again. There's something about this place I don't like," but I couldn't put my finger on it. Then 9/11 happened and it all made sense to me. I still haven't gone back to NYC.
There is a fascinating science article in the current (Ithink it is current) Time mag . Nightmare Scenario is the title, but not just about nightmares, dreaming in general, etc. I am sure that you can find it on If you cannot find online and want to read it PM me and I will get it to you.

no longer, haven't had a dream in ages. My brain is really alsleep.

Live consciously....

When I see my dogs dreaming, I always assumed it was the opposite: them trying to chase down a bird/rabbit/squirrel/something.
I once had a horrific nightmare about a Walmart balloon-blowing assignment that I was scheduled to do the next day. Turns out that the nightmare really wasn't far from reality. Ugh.
Phoebe--I imagine any job resembling carnie work inside a Wallyworld would evoke some type of nightmare--haha
