How did you . . . . .

I'm curious on how you all found out about Mystery Shopping?

I worked in retail for years and we used to conduct our own mystery shops of our competition, as well as get shopped. Service Intelligence used to shop my store, so I applied to their company first.

I've seen ads in the weekend local mini-trash newspapers but other than that only from other people that work in retail.

How did you find out about this industry????

From a newspaper ad.........it was for Ropernop (which is now GFK)

A customer knew I was looking for a second job, and saw an ad in a newspaper.
When I was in high school my mom was working part time to get her skills back in shape for going back to work full time once the nest was empty (I was the last chick out). A temporary agency sent her over to type mimeograph stencils of reports for a woman who did "market research". The mystery shopping she was sending folks out to do sounded like fun and since by contract my mom could not independently go back and work for her (since she had been introduced as a temp) the jobs rather became available to my sister and me. I did it summers and vacations for the rest of high school and then did it on breaks from college until I stopped going home every time the dorms closed.

I got restarted when I took early retirement, researching it on the web and finding the MSPA site where I started signing up and doing shops.
I did a little upstart about 4 years ago from an ad on the internet but never got into it. I don't think at that time there was much going in my area.

So this time when I thought about doing it again there are many jobs in my area and here I am "mystery shopping".
Mother smiling smiley Would you believe me if I said I completed 300 before she completed one? :p 'cause its true!
Yrs ago I answered ad about testing cat food...turned into a commercial for klan Kan....loved that money.

I was steered in the MS direction by my local grocery store's CSD which had been like a second home to my hungry family (I never shop my "home" store). I've been branching out since then, but the grocery biz is still my bread and butter.
Many years ago I had the good fortune to be able to shop a popular restaurant chain. Because I had worked in restaurants for 25 years it was pretty easy. The pay was good and I had fun. Later years, I decided to give it a try in other areas. That was over 8 years ago and I am still doing it.
I am not sure. I think I read an article in a national paper online. I have done it for a few years, and I was in grad school, a mom and wife, and living in somewhere cold awful and unfriendly we never lived before, and needed cash, and the brain is foggy...

I was sent a scam to "Ms", then decided it might be fun.
The MS, scams get you 3 hots and a cot, I would just rather work!
Unfortunately not enough of the scammers are being serviced with 3 hots and a cot! It is depressing to me to see how many folks fall for them and for the pay to shop scams.
ok anyone heard or done work for Six Star Solutions?
have a great day everyone!

I found out about it through surfing the internet. I tried it. Found out I like doing it. I just wish there were more jobs in my area. It seems to get somehwat competitive at times. The schedulers seem to rotate shoppers by the month. I am, however, signed up with many companies. I also am learning the better companies to work for. I tried online surveys and they do not seem to work for me.
Think from a radio program. Being shopping 7 years and keep getting busier. No longer do buy and returns. Mostly casino, hotels, dining, and movies.
