How to wire LED motorcycle turn signals?

Warning: This User Has Been Banned or Is No Longer Active
Hello Discussion Board,

I just bought a new set of signal lights and they are LED's. They have three wires Red, Black, and Black w/ white stripe. I had one working earlier and I switched one of them back to the incandescent and now none of the LED's will work. Can anyone tell me which wire is hot, neutral, etc ? Do I need the third wire for the LED's? If anyone having any idea relating this topic please suggest me.

Best Regards,
Anthony Martello

Dear Anthony Martello,

It appears that you have mistakenly posted your request for assistance regarding LED headlight wiring onto a blog for (mostly) female Mystery Shoppers.

We're a pretty sharp bunch, and no doubt there are some members who actually have in-depth knowledge and proficiency with LED motorcycle turn signal lighting.

But be aware: this is a fairly snarky bunch, so take the Boy Scout motto to heart and Be Prepared.
Your hot wire is black with the white stripe

But of course!

Is this an LED strip with a regulator built in, or...? If you are going to use LEDs, then you need to have a resistor at each bulb, or a voltage regulator for the series. LEDs run at much lower voltage than incandescent bulbs. Your motorcycle probably runs at 12 or 14 volts, and most LEDs are 1.5 volts. You probably (definitely) fried them if you installed them without any power regulation.

At least the short is a simple fix.

this might be a dumb question... but i know that any form of extra lighting is illegal in PA as well as several other states

it is not usally enforced like hitching your auto higher/lower or using tinted glass... but i dont like tickets as much as the next guy
