Why are we rewarding trolls & spammers by posting in their threads?

The way it is now, the trolls and spammers get the attention they seek, and their threads stay on or near the top of the page and are often listed as hot topics.

If we just want to have some fun mocking the trolls/spammers, can't we just add to the Recipes thread or create/post to a mocking thread?

If you are referring to the thread I think you are, because it was getting funny. I also fully expected it to be deleted before the day was done and last I looked, it was.

I have been fascinated by the introductions in broken English. They always say things like they look forward to our cooperation and they always are just a prelude to spam. I've also noticed the spam artists have taken to "liking" a bunch of posts prior to their games. Maybe they think it gives them street cred or something. If you look at the widely varying things they like, it becomes oh so obvious they don't have a clue.

Equal rights for others does not mean fewer rights for you. It's not pie.

Naw, I'm not referring to only one thread, but yeah, some of the responding posts were funny.
I do not get it. Why do they do it? Amystery shop forum. Can't we just ignore them? I think that was your point BBB. Instead of saying SPAM how about we just say ignore.
The one earlier was not actually spam in the beginning, just a totally off topic, nonsensical post. Unfortunately, those usually are a prelude. This one also was humorous for a while. Marking posts as spam or using the report function is effective. Remember these "people" probably get here because of keywords like shopping and our overworked and underpaid moderators get rid of them as fast as they can.

moderators get paid? I moderated on a linkedin group as a volunteer for a couple of months when the owner was ill. He asked for help and a lot of us volunteered--part time. It was interesting.

Our mods do not get paid, which means they are underpaidsmiling smiley Keeping up with the spam around here could qualify as a full-time job.
