What do you do for fun other than mystery shopping?

Hello Mystery Shoppers!

I'm curious what you guys do when you're not mystery shopping.

I read, mountain bike, play music, and work on my many websites.

But what about you?

When I'm not shopping, I'm looking for shops, reading job boards and forums to improve my skills.

I also love to write, sing and I enjoy water aerobics.
Read. Write a voluminous journal, filed on flash drives. Play games last thing at night (usually 4-5am) to wind down so I can forget everything and go to sleep. Cook at least a couple times a week - enough to last for days if necessary. <hanging head in shame> Catch up on soaps as I do other things. Go out to lunch once in a while (we like to be home by dark, we old folks). Shop when I have nothing specific to shop for and can *not* pay attention to anything (so hard to do now!).
Before I mystery shopped so regularly. . . . I read history, did genealogy, watched birds, and did a lot of pot gardening indoors and out. I spent a lot of time with my family, my pets, and never missed a club meeting. I did a lot of volunteer work. In September, my term on a state commission will be over. I have not sought another appointment.

Now I'm hard-pressed to do those things, but first I have a goal of seeing how much I can make mystery shopping. I have written for magazines and newspapers, still have some books I want to write, and worked in education. I'm torn between the different careers. Right now, I am working very hard with seasonal and part-time jobs so I don't get as much sleep as I should. After a few months, maybe I will be back to seeing how many books I can read in a year. My clubs are Irish Cultural Society, Council for International Visitors (hosting professional visitors to this country as a volunteer), Mensa (high IQ society), Republican Women. I am also a church member. I have a very full life.
I am a teacher and a parent . I do this to make extra money. It allows a lot of at home time. I'd like to do it more but I already have a full time job.
I love to cook; I have a big love for my kids and dogs. We all go camping together. And love to go on walks. I feed the wild birds, and love to look them up in my books. I do shopping so I can get out of the house, and earn a little money for gas, so I can get out of the house and do more shopping! Thank you for all your great tips. Bonnie Lund
I have a full time job during the day, I mystery shop every day except Sundays, which is my day of pure relaxation. I shoot pool, spend time with friends, and work on developing my gift basket business.
Wen love doing what we can for people. We have been to three hospitals in two days, and my husband is sitting with some wonderful people today while her husband is having by-pass surgery. He had it 11 years ago, and knows how to make people feel good. We enjoy bridge, 42, and other things just to be with a group of people we love!
I am writing a book between job. I hope to complete it this winter. I play music and sing. I have an autistic child so I am really busy. I am disabled and so is she and we need extra money to do things that is age appropriate for her. I manage my time well with mystery shopping.
I enjoy listening to Hay House Radio, I like Meditating, Going to the movies, and eating out. I would like to travel overseas maybe to a different part of the USA and Canada, which I have not been to yet.
Jeremy888 (and others),

I am planning a trip in July 2008 to London, Paris and Rome. I picked these because they are the top locations that people who only get to travel once go to. I am group leader, but not tour guide. I am inviting entire families. For more information, please contact me.
Since I retired last year I have never been so busy.
I love to read, write, garden, hike nature trails.
I have an ebay store so I like to visit flea markets and
yard sales to pick up bargains to resell.
I love to travel. I am enjoying good health and life in general!

Life is short, eat dessert first!

Good question, when I'm not MSing, I enjoy gardening, working on my house (just finished a full bathroom remodel, did the work by myself) designing and creating stained glass windows and roller blading. I am planning a trip in November 2007 to Italy and Spain all paid for with the extra money that I made while MSing.

I put in a great film, and I browse the shop sites. My idea of a romantic evening, lol.

Wannabe scheduler/editor
I go fishing and camping with my hubby, we own a 36' motor home and we park by the beach, we go fishing and enjoy " the do nothing " for few days.
I like to read a lot, and play with my computer, also I make exclusives hand made purses and jewels, and sometimes we go to the crafts shows to sell the items.
By the way , we are retired...
Enjoy life

We love to travel and eat out. We want to go to Disney World, Branson and love to go to Las Vegas. However, since my health took a turn for the worse in Jan 2000, we haven't been able to do much of any of these things as wwe don't have the money. Trying to make enough here so that we can start living again. Not having much success yet, but it will come.
I love to teach, and share my knowledge. I am also a quilter, been quilting since I was 5. (53 years now) so I use to volunteer at a local quilt museum and teach basic quilting. I was also a docent. I think volunteering is important - give back to the community.
When I am not shopping I am still busy. I am semi-retired but I still own two other businesses also. I have a Craft Supply store that I have attached to me home. I had it in a store front for many years and then we remodeled out garage and made it into a store. I also have a Printing and Office Supply Business. We do business cards, reproduce old photos and new ones, address labels, and auction posters. We also have a couple businesses that we design and print about 1200 to 1500 coupons for every month. We print anything basically that anyone wants printed. This keeps me busy on the days I am not out MSing and doing reports.
When I am not shopping I am cooking. This is a hobby for me. I cook for the church and bake pies/cakes for my children's school. I like to read, go to the movies and travel. Most of all I love to just spend time with my children and play games.

I traveled quite a bit, but not out of country since 9/11. Have been to Europe twice, Paris, London, Italy and Israel. Now I take shorter trips, Chicago (visit my daughter) Vegas and San Francisco, where I was born. Gourmet food is my passion...watch faithfully "Iron Chef" and "Food Network" and love these high end restaurant's, movies is another passion, Independent films such as "Away from her", No country for old men", and Woody Allen films. Reading self help books. Would love to write a book on my life the last 22 years, "Seniors 101" might be a good name or "Slim Pickin's"....needed an outlet, that's why I found msing, so I can shop for shop's to shop at.

Travel, cooking in and eating out, taking drive to the beach, long walks breathing that great ocean air, shopping new places, exploring and finding interesting items for my home, music, reading,t.v. talk shows, walking my puppy, internet, friends, daughter......on and on.

You mean msing isn't supposed to be your life? When I'm not msing, I have fun looking for msing jobs.LOL

Seriously though, I love to read, and I take a lot of college classes through the distance learning program that I learned about when I was home schooling my daughter while she was in high school.

That's a big job, home schooling....how is she doing now? msing is becoming a larger part of my life now as I have a 4 month old puppy...so, having to be home more, I just look for jobs, grip on the forum's and look for more jobs......what happened to the fun. I discovered Manhatten beach Friday on a job, and what a great beach town....how did I end up away from water coming from San Francisco...
Fun? I thought this was fun. I work just about 12 hours a day as a shopper, to support my family.

What's your point? It should be fun as it is not really a "job". I couldn't begin to support my family on mystery shopping. Part time, great, adds a little cash, little being the operative word, with gas prices the way are they are now $3.59 a gallon in L.A. the profit is quickly eaten up. 65% of jobs I get near or within 10 miles from me are reimbersement only, or food and $10.00 shop fee.

Sandra Sue,

I envy your traveling. Be sure and go to Venice, so amazing, no cars, they travel by water taxi. Have been to Europe twice, loved Italy (the men are gorgeous, the art devine and the food, to die for). Please let us know about your trip, and your favorites. My daughter lived in London after graduating from Northwestern, her Dad gave her a trip to Europe. The kids made London their homne base, and took the train all over Europe...very inexpensive, she stayed 10 months, fell in love and we thought we'd never get her back...but we did. I met her in Italy and we took an overnight train through the swiss alps to Austria...oh happy days!
I had to cancel the trip because I didn't have time to recruit people to go with me. I had to get together a small group in order to go for free. I was hoping to do this every year. My mother was a member of a "travel club" of friends who were able to do that. I suppose the planner got a free situation. I can't afford to travel on my own. It was a nice idea while it lasted.

Too bad...I was a travel agent years ago, before computers...I was in outside sales. I had alot of friends that traveled, so, I planned trips for them, I did get free travel through that. My Europe trip was on me. Maybe posting on this or other forums could help. Would be fun for mser's to take a vacation together, or would it.....

As long as we don't fight over the assignments, LOL. We might all want to be the one who goes for free! Sounds like a good idea, though, and we'd definiately have something to talk about.

I'll be in Vegas soon...get some friends and join me. I have a free Hotel room for 3 nights at of all places Hooters. They recently opened a Hotel there. Strange thing, I did a Hooter's restaurant, and get this free vacation at Hooters.
Don't know if it's related, but don't really care, it's on the strip close to the bigger Hotels like Belligo and Paris...this will be my trip to Europe. What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.....

I'm glad that you got the free vacation. So far, with MSing, all I've gotten was a tiny free TV and $40 free gas. It was nice. You have a nice time, and don't risk losing any money!
