Spam E-mails from this site?

I just signed up on this site to check out MSing. However, before I did that, I created a new e-mail address just for this site and anything else I do relating to MSing. I've already gotten two e-mails from Kim, the Mystery Shopping Mom. I've yet to see her on this site. I've not clicked on her links to check out her "advice", is she legit? Or is this an example of others wanting to sell me stuff?

Have no idea. Take a good look at those emails because it may possibly be a notice that a PM has arrived for you, but I have no idea who 'Kim, the Mystery Shopping Mom' might be. You can check your profile here and make sure that your email address is not to be displayed to others. That way the only way a person can contact you is in open forum or by PM. And yes, I suspect Kim is trying to peddle you something.
I have never heard of her. I would hit delete. I have never gotten spam from this site. You can always create a new email address and change it here. Did you check to see if your email is public in your profile? Mine is turned off.

Thank you. I appreciate your feedback. At your suggestion, I checked my e-mail settings and it seems to be in order. I literally have not used that e-mail address except to register for this site.
On another note, I've read quite a few threads on this site and I appreciate both your inputs on all topics. It seems all can really learn a lot from the two of you.
Thank you again.
Jo
Thanks for the compliment! :-)

The same thing happened to me when I signed up within the last month.I received a series of emails from "Kim". I deleted them all and have not received any since.

That's weird. Anyone know how to check into if there is a bot attached to the signup?

Huh? I get the gist of what you're asking, but don't know a bot from a hole in the ground.

I've been hanging out here about nine months. The email address I signed up with is the same for most of my shopping business. Hundreds and hundreds of email (emails?) has arrived in my inbox, and exactly six have been delivered to trash as spam. Not bad. Nothing from Kim.
It would be a good question for Jacob since the server this runs on is his I think rather than rented space, so between admin here and on the server he may be able to determine what is going on. Certainly I have seen nothing from a 'Kim' so this may be something relatively new.
Would be happy to forward these e-mails if necessary. Two e-mails. One is talking about paid surveys and the other about 3 companies that need MSers. I just found it suspicious since I just created this e-mail to join this forum.
I have gotten those spam-ish emails, too. They aren't from signing up here, though. There is a small bit of helpful info in them for those who are just starting out. Nothing that could not be found on this very helpful forum or some other big MS message board, though. smiling smiley
I saw this on another forum-is this by any chance something similar to the email you guys got from "Kim the mystery shopping mom"? The reason I ask is that person did not know how they got her email, either...(typo's hers not mine.)

"Dear fellow Mystery shopper. My name is Kim and I am Silver certified and live in Tampa, FL. I am hoping you can help me. Is there a way to find out which companies use which mystery dhopping companies? For example, who does Walmart or Publix use?"

Thanks so much!

Kim Cox

Mine doesn't say a last name but has an address of Seattle WA. Doesn't sound like the same person. Your kim is asking a question and, though I have not click on any of her links, I believe, mine is trying to sell me something.
The one I get is from Kim the Mystery Shopping Mom, but in Seattle.

She does have some interesting things to say. For example, an email I got last week told me how to sign up with 77 MS companies at once.

So...all you need to do is go to Archondev.com,, then click on the link in the top right of their menu bar that says 'shoppers', then follow the instructions.

I'm pretty sure I got myself signed up for this by clicking a link at Volition, not here, though.
The ones I got were from the Mystery Shopping Mom, as well.

Let me clarify that this site does NOT send these emails. As a member of the forum you may get forum updates from time to time (no more than twice a month, usually less), but that's it. The emails from Kim are from someone I know, and I do know they are opt-in emails, meaning you entered your email address into a form in order to get them.

I just want to say that I have enjoyed reading the emails. If you are getting them and are fairly new to MS-ing.. take the time to read them. There is some very good information in them for newbies. Thank you, Kim, if you are reading this.
I got Kim emails too! I didnt know it was from here since I signed up for so much stuff at once.

What I Know is that it's harmless...she has advice, good or bad is up to you, sends you a monthly email and its good info. She hasn't posted any Spam yet that Ive noticed. Just a little blurb here and there. Found a good couple of website recommendations too...
