Any other gun totin' mystery shoppers out there?

Just curious if I have any fellow gun enthusiasts out there? Around my neck of the woods, we love to shoot! I have a 9mm Glock, a .22 Walther, and I just got a 9mm Walther for Christmas. My boys just got their first shot guns, a .410 for my 8 year old, a 20 gauge for my 12 year old, and my husband got a new .22 rifle. We just got back from trying them out!

We go to the range about once a month, and go out target shooting with the boys about once a month. In January I will be getting my conceal and carry license. I'm not a crazy nut, just serious about protecting what is mine!

I have probably painted a picture of myself as a redneck, backwoods woman missing my 2 front teeth. During the day I'm in fashionable clothes and my Coach purse! I can be very versatile.

Anybody else out there shoot?

Not me Bear. The only shots I take are 80 proof!
You are certainly a high caliber shopper.

Hey IM, I can do me a shot as well as the next gal.! I can fit in/take care of myself in just about any situation I find myselfsmiling smiley High class jewelry shop, yep. Average Joe retail/restaurant, yep. Tailgate party, yep.
Perfect attributes for a mystery shopper, Bear.

Can you sling garbage cans into a rear load packer truck from several hundred homes or businesses for 10 hours a day?
(If so, you are better than me, 'cause I can't!)

Just curious "Does a Bear shoot in the woods?"
(Couldn't resist that one!)
You got me there! I had back surgery when I was 23, so I am somewhat limited to what I can do physically.

And yes, bears shoot in the woods, but only if there is somebody there to hear it.
Yes, my favorite is my Ruger .44mag, New Model Super Blackhawk, and a Ruger .22 pistol. Have had the carry permit a couple of years. The revolver comes with me on long rides and night rides, under the seat. Too big to carry comfortably. I don't carry on an everyday basis.
I don't practice much, maybe every couple of months. The .22's are nice and inexpensive for target practice. You have a real nice light weight gun with great stopping power with your 9mm Glock. Nice noise.

I'm going to be communing with my inner Redneck now. smiling smiley
I had to sell my Bersa 380 not too long ago to cover some bills :-(
I cried.... I'm woman enought to admit it since it was a Birthday present.

I'm hoping to get my CCW in the next year.... Crossing my fingers!
In each of my vehicles I have a knife. In my sportscar, I have a boot knife and in my van, a big hunting knife (Xmas gift from hubby)

We're seriously thinking of getting a Glock soon. We want to trade in our old shotguns and rifles.

I Wish! Although I have to say that all the gun stores that I have been in have been very helpful and informative. I would have had to give them very high marks all around. I even saw a tiny belt buckle gun. It really fires. Something like a .17. I have to say I do not like the colored guns. Pink? Lavender? Why? I wonder if Swarovski will be offering something with a crystal next? Pave maybe?

I swear that I did right before Christmas! It was for a sporting goods store and you were supposed to start out with "It's for my grandfather..." or something like that. You had to look at rifles.

Lisa, what is it? Is it a representation of a germ, virus, an atom? Have you gone into the biological agent realm for self protection? Dirty bomb?
I do not have concealed carry because of two things: the weight (I already have a big handbag.) and the cost of the license.

I'm thinking about hair spray. Who could ever call that a weapon when there is a dispute? I'd have to put some tape, velcro or something on it so I could point the nozzle in the right place, but wouldn't that make it a weapon?

Does anyone know how long pepper spray lasts in the canister? I guess I need to buy a few just to spray to see how far and how wide the spray is.
Hair spray as a weapon. Hmmm, interesting concept. Wonder if a can of Right Guard could be used as protection against stinky people who get too close to us while in line at shops...like at the Post Office.

That is so weird. I just saw a gun dealer compliance shop like 10 minutes ago when I was signing up with a new (to me) company. I think it was a national sporting goods chain, and they required you ask to look at a gun to make sure they are complying with something or other.

My wife and I almost always shop armed, except when we can't. Well, let me rephrase that. I keep one in the car. She keeps one in her purse. We shoot every weekend that we aren't otherwise busy, and sometimes more if the kids aren't in school.

I did a rash of compliance shops at Mr. Walton's place. I had to tell them I needed to buy a shotgun for my husband who had tried to purchase it earlier, but couldn't because he is a felon. Fortunately none of them sold me one under the circumstances, so the reports all went well. I was really embarrassed and felt like a total loser saying that, but they were all bonused!
Boy, no way could I have gotten away with that. First, everyone here knows me by name, where I live, reputation, and what I look like. About a month ago, our washing machine broke. My husband has been going to the laundrymat three times a week. I was in a convenience store when one of the clerks walked up to me while I was in line at the restroom and asked if my husband and I are still "together". I wanted to slap her. She said she had seen him at the laundrymat. So, why didn't she look for my underwear in the basket? She probably had already started rumors before she saw me. My husband said that the next time he sees her somewhere besides at the store (maybe at the laundrymat), he is going to ask her if she still works at the C-store because he doesn't see her there. She probably deserves to be asked if she was let go, but neither of us would ask that.
I hope you people who leave guns in your vehicles don't live in this area. With all of our major sporting events police were practically begging people to stop doing that since it has caused smash and grabs to rise.

I'm going to Trauma Centers in the middle of the night. Fly up to the ER doors and jump out with the transplant. Security is all over my car there, so I don't have worry about theft! Usually there are lots of cops around also. If it is a location that I am going to for fun, the gun isn't with me. I think about any assignments that I may be tempted to take a gun with me. Then I say to myself " Is this $15 or $30 assignment worth maybe having to shoot someone or getting shot over?" I then decline the assignment. The guns are for safety on the long, dark road trips. Have you seen some of these waysides at night? I'd rather pull up on the Hells Angels. To break down is a nightmare in the rural areas. Is that helpful stranger OK? or a creep? Safety in numbers. I like the number 44 mag. I hope I never have to shoot anyone, I have drawn it twice. The punks turned around and kept walking. Night run, bad neighborhood, car jacking a regular occurrence in the area. Glad I had it with me. I have cut my income by 1/3 by not taking these runs anymore, but I don't have to put a lawyer on retainer either. As with all things, common sense should prevail.
What you do is very different than people going to downtown St. Louis for football, baseball or hockey games or concerts. They are in the company of anywhere from 20,000 to 60,000 other people and a ton of security and police.

LOL. Same thing in Detroit, but there is always a couple assaults, rapes, murders, or other evilness in the parking lot before, during, and after the game. Safety in numbers is great if the rest of the numbers don't look the other way.

Wow. Here unless people park in out of the way places they are much greater risk of getting hit by a car or something falling off a building.

The point the police kept trying to make is guns are not allowed in any of the venues so they don't do the person who brought them any good where leaving them in the car opens a whole other can of worms.

People just don't think! I was at the Court House and watched people walk to the doors, read the signs and see the metal detectors, and turn around and put their guns in the trunk of their car. What were they thinking. You can tote a gun to your court case? Be a defendant in an ugly divorce case carrying? You are right about opening a different can of worms. I was sitting there thinking, what an excellent place to start popping trucks for a whole new arsenal. If I were a bad guy, it would be like the best Christmas ever.
Well, I never thought about protection. The one thing I know, if I were to carry a gun I would be in the obituaries soon after I toted it! Not because I want to kill myself. I am just a Klutz with things like that. I am pretty sure my husband would take it away from me, if he knew.
I just read a story on AOL that said STL is the second most dangerous city in the US. That is surprising to me, but even more reason for self protection.
