......But at least Zoe Saldana has a new look........

Sorry, just aimlessly complaining here.

I admit I watch/read/listen to way, way less news that I should, but I do occasionally read the headlines on Yahoo News. I do wish they would prioritize. It's a bit odd to read a "breaking news" headline advertising an actresses new 'do next to headlines of tragic world events.

Unreal what is considered newsworthy.

How about the airtime given on cable news regarding 2010 - do we say 'twenty ten' or 'two thousand and ten'? Evidently, it matters somewhere.
LOL. Both of these are ever so NOT newsworthy...Just looking to fill dead air time or web site space, I guess.

Oh, I know.

I wonder now if maybe that is why I gave up watching news to begin with. The lame stories they try to make into news.
For what it is worth. My brother worked for a ABC station for 30+ years. I asked him one time if the people on air, when they did a story, knew how stupid they sounded. He said they had no clue. All I watch is the weather.
What astonishes me is that if there are no local tear jerkers to report they play 'go fish' around the country. So we get 3 burned in a trailer fire in CA and 2 injured 3 killed in a house fire in IL, a car that drove into a house and injured no one in ??? and 4 shot in a mall in ?? but very little on our "LOCAL" news about what is happening LOCALLY. They will only report City Council, County Commission or State Legislature if it is someting 'scandalous' or controversial. And after the mug shots of the current round of local criminals there usually is a 'cute' animal story from somewhere. Why NOT report the band car wash for the kids to go to state competitions? Why NOT report the science fair? Why NOT report the local garden club plant sale to raise money for the local food bank? There are so many things of potential community building and these guys want to give us nothing but the sleaze and heartache of elsewhere.

I agree, but that sort of news isn't scandalous nor shocking so I guess it's of no interest to them sadly.
My big pet peeve with them right now is they give part of the information you might be interested in and then tell you to go to thier web site and read the rest of it. What about all the folks out there that do not a computer. I work with 15 ladies and one gent and only three of us have computers. So if they wanted on of the free flue shots they could not go because the places were listed on the web site.
Our local news is pretty local. Science fairs and all.

If you presumed our news was local and didn't listen carefully for the quickly mentioned out-of-area and out-of-state locations, you would think we had 4 kidnappings and a dozen murders per day, to say nothing of child molesters, home invaders etc. In reality, when there is a local purse snatching it takes up about half of the news broadcast with interviews of the victim, bystanders and 'no comment' by the police and the store manager 'refused to be interviewed'.
One of their lowest moment is when they knock on the door of someone who has just lost a family member in an tragic event and want to interview them. Most of the doors are not opened around here so they go to a neighbor.
