Word Association Game

Word Association, you were always there for me when I needed to relax or unlock my brain. When we first met, I did not realize how addictive you would become or that you would dominate my beloved "New Updates" box. It's become obvious you think it's all about you and have no concerns about both of our needs.

I'm sorry, but you've become too much for me. I have to be able to see other "New Updates".

Good-bye. sad smiley

LOL. I was responding to her "Good bye" with the word association "Hello."

Apparently she has had the Word Association Game thread set to notify her for all updates to it and it has been overwhelming her.

Oh, I guess New Updates isn't a setting, it's at the top of the page. I never use it. i just go to each forum and look for the "New" flags and read whatever updated threads interest me. Yes, I can imagine that some threads could dominate the "New Updates" listing.

Anyway, I was just teasing her by trying to turn this thread into another word associate game.

@dspeakes: Hahaha! I was just going to say "hilarious", but stopped myself, since I already knew what you would say.

@JacobJ: I have purposely deprived myself of posting on the Word Association thread because it seems to trump all other threads in my "New Updates" box.

How in the world do I get divorced from this tenacious thread? I can (possibly) live without ever again playing Word Association, but how old do I have to be for the relationship to be permanently over?

Instead of clicking on New Updates, just click on each forum and it will show you where there are new posts.

@dspeakes: The New Updates I believe displays the last six occasions when someone has responded to either a post you've made or a thread on which you've posted. "Word Association" is an example of the latter. It also it shows when someone "likes" one of your posts.

The irritating thing with WA is that it doesn't let go and continues to report who just posted on the thread, even though I haven't been on the thread for weeks and weeks and have made many other posts since then. In the whole scope of things though, this is not really all that important.

I wonder if it could be made forum-specific, then you could just not click the New Updates for the General Chat forum. Or maybe ... there could be an exclusion box for "Exclude from New updates."

I'd be curious to know how many people here use the "new updates" thing because I think I was here more than two years before I even noticed it.
