receipt in jpeg

I have an HP all in one...scans, faxes, copies and prints. I just hooked it up and scanned receipts to do reports for shops. The shop reports asks for receipts in jpeg. The scanner used pdf. How do I get from pdf to jpeg? The only thing I know about is taking photos of the receipts.... which I did this a.m. I would MUCH rather do that then have to take pics of my receipts. Does anyone know how to get from pdf to jpeg?

Most scanners will also give you the option to scan to JPG. However I would ask the MSC, the reason most ask for JPGs is because you can just snap a picture with your phone rather than having to have a scanner. I'd be surprised if your MSC doesn't take a PDF instead, if they don't, check your scanner program settings for a JPG scan.

Another easy and quick option, take a screen shot of the PDF and save that one as a JPG.
I see no scan options and called HP. It didn't work either. My only option is to take pics of the rectps. Oh well.
I prefer taking pictures of the receipts to hauling out the scanner. Photo of receipt...Upload to Google Drive... fill out the report on my Chromebook and attach it. Boom. If it's an easier shop I go ahead and do it right on my phone.
I have always used jpeg, way before they had smartphones that could take good photos of receipts, so that is not the reason MSCs ask for jpeg. I think it might have something to do with file size. Some (like Service Sleuths) prefer PDF. Did you go into your printer properties? Click on your start button, and look for devices and printers, and open it. You should be able to customize your printer that way.
I have an HP All in One set up as well. It was a cheapie because it came free with my laptop. I can scan to .pdf or .jpeg. Luckily, I also have the full Adobe software. With it I can covert a .pdf to just about anything. I would bet you could find a free conversion tool on the Internet. But, if you have to take that additional step, it'd be quicker to use your cell phone.
It wouldn't make sense for the scanner to not be able to do jpeg, and the OP stated that they would rather use the scanner than to take pics of the receipts. I personally have a hard time getting my new smartphone to communicate with my computer, as I want to keep my receipt images on my computer. I have tried plugging the phone directly into the computer to upload photos that way, and it doesn't work very well. My old phone transferred the images with no problem. I also have tried going into the settings on my phone for remote transference, and am only successful about half of the time. So now, I either have to email the pics to myself and download them into my documents file, or open the report on my phone and upload the photos there, save it, and then finish the report on my computer. Such a time-consuming PITA. It's much easier for me to use my scanner for the receipts, plus then I can avoid glare or anything else that can go wrong by taking a photo of the receipt.
I tried to change it and now it does not scan at all. I set it back to the way it was and now when I click scan. it immediately shows no scan options .... not even pdf. Oh yay!!

Dropbox works well for me. It will synch the photos to your computer over your wifi connection in the background when you get home. It's an app you download from your smartphone and then install the program on your home computer. The free version has quite a bit of storage, but you can pay for the upgrade if it's not enough, or just move the photos out of Dropbox's cloud storage and onto your desktop (which sounds more like how you want to use it).

lucky, did you try rebooting your computer? I don't know what to tell you...where is scanman when you need him!
I have no idea what I did but I got the thing to scan in jpg using windows fax and scan. I did download from hp.com/go/tools then I turned everything off and unplugged... then restarted & I did a search for scan and found windows fax and scan that I used before. I put the paper in face side up first time (wrong!!~) and scanned... then nothing came out. Then I unplugged again >>> mainly cuz I wanted to throw it thru the window...lol), plugged it in and restarted again .... placed the paper face side down and scanned correctly. Hey it only took me about 2 hours to figure it out. Thanks sooo much for your support. smiling smiley
I am glad it worked out for you! Now hopefully you won't have any more issues with that darned thing...and so glad you didn't throw it through the window smiling smiley
Cool, but I will stick with what I got now....I hope this thread helps out someone else having troubles. Whew.
I know I have suggested the NEAT portable scanner many times on this forum. Called NeatReceipts. This cost me $100. This scanner is so simple to use. I have had this since 2011, works perfectly is efficient and automatically will put your receipt in any file, JPEG-PDF- it measures 11"x 1 1/2". I have never had a question on my receipts. Download the receipt into the scanner, this automatically files it, stores it and goes into your computer file. Just upload into the MSCs program. This has saved me so much time.
