What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

The fellow who has been living in the basement (ahem, garden) apartment in my house for 7 months has been transferred to Atlanta and departed yesterday. Once I get home from this hotel shop, I need to inspect the apartment, arrange a thorough cleaning, and rearrange some furniture to stage it for prospective lodgers. If you know someone who needs a fully furnished, 1 BR apartment with fireplace and private patio, in the DC Metro area PM me, please. Close to bike trails, public transit and with an assigned parking spcae at the front door.

My days are all so much the same that besides shopping I have little to report. At least until a new contractor gets hired. However, reading all of you gives me hope LOL.
Hang in there. Cooler weather is on the way.

KathyG,
Come on over. Having another shopper in the house might be fun! And, there are so many shops in this area that I don't worry about another shopper arriving.

Nothing planned, coffee with my cronies, mall, seeing what's new (since yesterday), work on the house, vacuminning this tri-level is a job in itself, watch Sat. movie and so on....

It's a beautiful day here in NE Ohio. It's sunny and about 72 out right now, high of 78 expected today. We are meeting some friends at a restaurant/bar on the lake with outdoor seating...buckets of beer and better than average food, along with a classic rock band. Looking forward to good times!
wales, have you considered advertising it on Airbnb for nightly-weekly rates? You could make a tidy sum.
JAS,
I have researched that thoroughly. I need, and get, much more by renting it fully furnished. Recent lodgers have stayed 5 and 7 years. You cannot beat that since there are no vacancies. Besides, the lodger usually also helps out with snow shoveling, etc.

Air BnB would require you to be home at particulat times as well.

Yes, but I have another housemate who is retired and has been here for 7 years. She would sub for me when I am away. Heck, when I am out of the country she takes my checks to the bank to make my deposits. But, local Airbnb rates would mean that I could afford only 2 un-rented nights per month if I were to make what I make for renting the unit, and it's nice to have continuity. I am a huge fan of Airbnb, but it is not going to fit the income budget.

Renting is better (long term). I have a friend whose daughter goes to college up here and lives at home. They Airbnb a room to an out of country student for 4 months, then her boyfriend visited and wouldn't leave, smoked, things happen when you don't know who you have in your home. Long term renting is much more stable.
I rented my home with a 6 month lease (4years ago) and then month to month as needed. I had to go to No..CA. and help my sister who had Dementia...my lease worked out great....I do have a 6'5 body guard policeman friend who works for famous people stop by and introduce himself to my renter, no problems.....I thought of Airbnb for myself to supplement income, but wasn't happy with the two i interviewed, and to me it' like running a B@B.

It IS running a B&B, except not all offer breakfast.

Drive to Ventura Harbor, lunch on harbor, relaxing as tomorrow brings a very busy week...my jobs seems to come in 1st. week of the month.

I went grocery shopping. Supply shopping is a better description actually sine i cant cook. Triscuits and spray cheese arent really groceries. Now Im relaxing and this evening I'm planning yard work.
Gorcery shopping, showed our empty apartment, started the initial conversation about doing a route in the UK next spring.

Yesterday was a long trail walk, got a watch battery replaced, and went on a wine run. While I was at the wine store, I did a tasting. It was a family owned, California winery. The wine was awful. I tasted a sauvignon blanc, chardonnay, and cabernet sauvignon, in that order. They tasted identical.

Are they supposed to taste different?

Nah. The names are just for show.

Today, I am doing a test run of a newly configured morning job. That change is effective tomorrow. I will miss people that I know from the old configuration because they are so fab. But this change was needed. I will obey The Perfectionist Who Has Decreed That Two Days Containing Even A Smidgen Of Free Time Are Just Two %@*#! Many and continue my long, drawn-out project. I will continue in a communications study. It will be a good day.

Please tell me how a cabernet (red) tastes like the chardonnay (oaked white) or sauvignon blanc (also white).

Well, the Japanese visiting scholar who emailed several about the apartment in my home turns out to be REAL, not a scammer whose uncle would send a large certified check,! He is due to tour the place tomorrow noon. So, as I finish my last 5 July reports, I will be running up and down the basement stairs helping with and overseeing the cleaning and staging of that furnished space! Short term lodgers (3-4 months in his case) pay about $300 more per month because of more frequent chances of vacancies. My other housemate is retired on disability but is able to make a few extra dollars doing things like cleaning and arranging the apartment. Everybody wins!

Glad you made that disclaimer or Honny might have gotten offended. She said they were awful. But I guess they were equally awful, because I can't imagine she really meant they were identical.
Today I am taking Lucy to get her staples out. It's a red letter day around here. I can tell they are driving her bananas. I'll do that and then go to Sonic to get a giant unsweetened iced tea, and come home and do some yard work. Our weather is not as bad as typical for this time of year and I have no shops scheduled so it's a good day to play with the weed eater.
Working at home, updating my NV. info for work in Vegas...planning on doing that more this year. Looking for some new MSC's to join, taking care of business. Having another heat wave, very humid which is rare, been a hot summer, staying home works.

I finally had some time to check out this thread, I love it. Doubt if I will be a regular poster because I work so many hours right now, but I sure enjoyed reading it. I had a rare day off yesterday. The temperature has been 105 - 110 for two weeks, I did not want to use the oven so I made supper on the pit. Pork riblets, corn on cob, and squash and onions. Stove top was black eye peas. Laundry and groceries filled out the rest of the day.
I don't know exactly what "supper on the pit" means, but I"m coming to your house for dinner.
