What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

honny...the fires were all around me, very scary and got an email to pack a few things, but seems I'm o.k..
Just hope the wind dies down. Too close for comfort, I'm close to Canyon Country which is still burning.
I watered my patio, trying to keep everything wet.......

Thank you Jas, honney, Wales.....another morning, sun is out, wind died down, I'm o.k. once again, but with sorrow for those that lost everything.. My small area has utilities underground, so sparks from the electric poles that blows the fire elsewhere is in my favor....once again, 5 freeway closed and 2300 ares burned, our College of the Canyons is "homing" those that lost homes, college very close to me and a beautiful piece of property.

Good news, I don't need any kind of heart surgery, test just came back and my Dr. and I hugged, happy moment!!

I'm obsessively watching the news. I'm in Canyon Country. Numerous friends were evacuated. Very scary. My wife is a sgt with LAPD. It took her 2hrs to get home yesterday and she went to work today.
Irene, that is wonderful news.

I'm saying a prayer for you, and I'm not religious. I was there at my eye Doc the day before the fire, they had moved the office 2 blocks past Sand Cyn...lots of brush out there, and 14 freeway is closed.......Good luck.

Thank you. I'm a nervous wreck over this.
Did a half day of substitute teaching today. Have to update my mystery shop report for the company that does the phone shops where you purchase something. Tomorrow zumba class in the morning, one restaurant mystery shop. Then I will take my little doggie to the dogpark and walk a mile there. Sunday relaxing, reading the Sunday paper and doing some house cleaning.

Two more days of merch. Then, a few free days just for me. I need them... An ugly inanity from the past has reared its ugly head again. It puts me on the defensive verbally, which then gets me into trouble and lets the nasty instigator go free. It is a long and stupid story... and it belongs in 'many lifetimes ago'... So I wonder: time has passed and everyone is older. Some are now old enough for non-surprising dementia and other issues. I must consider this when deciding how best to proceed.

Meanwhile, the mountain of merch boxes has disappeared. I can see my living room again. All the projects are still there. My new bookcases invite me to hurry up and finish those projects because beloved books deserve my time and attention. smiling smiley

Goodness! I schedule days for personal appointments and animal appointments and whatnot. Also, to cook nice meals. It's funny how whenever someone learns what I do they think, "I should do that!" They have no idea.....
Banking (on line), budgeting for November, groceries (not MS). More laundry. Deep conditioning my very dry hair. Will probably treat myself to lunch near on storage shop location.

Getting the house ready in case a potential buyer wants to pop in, then meeting our buying agent to look at some potential properties. That should be done by mid afternoon, then we'll see where the day takes us.

Work. Merch. Organizing and prepping for my little journey into The Whole30. Making space for permitted foods-- in my minuscule, pantryless kitchen-- seems a bit like Susan Powter's 'Stop The Madness!' lol. I enlisted the hubby to choose recipes from the companion entertaining coobook. His choices will give us quantities and the basic first shopping list (and make up for the foods that have to go away for awhile).

Today is two jobs, the new groceries for the Source..lowered price (if possible) and more work. Blocks from me and I'm grocery shopping anyway, will give it a try....first job in weeks., these are not flying off the board.
Will then do reports and read, air quality not good, warnings to stay inside.

I"m relaxing for a change. After days of being on the road 100-200 miles this way or that, I caught up on my little games and checked in here. I have 2 days of this bliss before I hit the road again for a high paying but grueling route. I"m relaxing with my coffee and laptop and soon I will switch to iced tea and go start laundry. It's piled higher than I am tall. I am sure the first of the month will bring less work and I am ready LOL.
Shop. Merch. Finalize grocery list and fetch selected permitted foods.

Everything else is optional. It is snowing again, and we will choose the least bad driving routes regardless of mileage.

Coffee at Coffee Bean, better than SB, bringing book to read and relax, then mall, AT@T to adjust phone and a bit of window shopping. Walking around complex on our walking trails. Home to my crockpot and great smells of food cooking all day. Quick stop at our Spanish grocery, having crispy apples 2pds. for a buck. Wind died down till tonight, so fires will start again.
Weather glorious mid 70's, no wind, sun out.......love it.

We had dinner with the kids and grandkid and other than that just relaxed and did a little laundry. Hitting the road again tomorrow so down time was definitely needed.
Cleaned for an Open House, then took the cats to a local park, opened the carriers, and let them wander in the car. Did the weekly produce run before going back home.

I darkened my hair from platinum blonde to dark blonde. The platinum was a lot of maintenance to keep the white-yellow look.

Saturday, my book club had our pumpkin carving party. It was so much fun! Our next party is a wine pairing in December.

The early job is late (weather/roads). I have no other extra work planned, so it is okay with me. Customers might not like it so much, but I believe in how smart they are and in their ability to realize that even this service job is impacted by weather which, in turn, affects them.

More fires and ours is not out....unable to go to Studio City due to freeway problems, keeping it closed for evacuations....worst Oct. in my history of living here. Will do paper work, finish book and go to sprouts, plus
sweeping garage and laundry....whoopee!!

First cataract surgery last Thursday. Kept a low profile for a few days. Had time to do a little cooking.

I had it done 7 years ago, no problem, was fine the next day.

Procrastinating cleaning my house. Still in jammies keeping warm, visiting online.
Going to bake cookies first.
Perhaps I will look for one job to do after work tomorrow.
Yesterday I bought a 'house selling' St. Joseph statue and buried in the front yard just before we had a second showing of our house last night. This morning our agent is forwarding questions about the termite treatment we had done and disclosed on the form. I'm cautiously optimistic that if someone wants to know details like that they're really interested in the property. Fingers crossed.

Irene - glad it went well for you. That's amazing it only took a day. The first night everything was cloudy and murky. It has been a steady improvement since then. My vision in the eye that was done is definitely better than before the surgery. My dr said the improvement will continue. I also take two kinds of drops for pigmentary glaucoma. One of drops caused an eye infection and he's still trying to figure out which one. Not sure if that has anything to do with it, but I'll be happy when he gets is it all figured out.
Just now, I am listening to a lesson on The Spirit of the Law. Among other concepts, there is a spiritual reasoning behind sharing as a means of preventing extracting. Earlier in the cold day (two degrees, more or less) I worked at two jobs and bought a few Whole30 compliant groceries. While at Wally World, I had intended to buy long, warm unmentionables. I forgot them. Tomorrow, I can test my little hypothesis at 2AM: socks over tights under ponte pants under jeans make the legs and hips feel warm. Regardless of the results of the absurd inquiry, I will remember to get my long johns tomorrow.
