I am enjoying the news about old church windows. Some of those old panes date back to the 1100's. Wowza! This sparked my imagination, and soon I will embark on a little impromptu lesson in the history of stained glass, churches, cathedrals, and whatever else is to be found along the way to a greater appreciation of old stuff. If lucky, I might some old books that I can afford.

@Shop-et-al My school, back in my home country, was a convent. I was there from Kindergarten right up to High School. The church inside the school had the prettiest panes dating back to 1842 when the school was established. The nuns often used to show us pictures of the old panes, how they had changed over the years, repair work to restore them to their old glory, and craftsmen who did the work. I really loved knowing about their history but sadly, everyone in my class called me a big bore!

I am spending my day feeling stressed because people are coming to visit Friday. They are people who live in a gleaming show room of a house. Can I at least make my house appear spotless by then?
No. So, stressed.
I have spent the past few days doing things that don't help me be ready at all. Sewing, going through craft stuff. On the positive, I found enough stuff to get rid of to fill a large bag.
Off to clean house, top to bottom.
And to prepare lovely picnic for other friends tomorrow.

I am far from the world's best house cleaner. However, I've found that a perfectly straight house goes a long way in giving the impression of cleanliness. So shove things in closets and under beds, dust every surface, and call it done.

I was born as a boring old bag. I'm always good, and possibly ecstatic, even if no one else wants to join me on my little look at art appreciation. It was nine million degrees in the breeze when we were waiting for a tow. I mean, it was ninety $@&^$ degrees out there.Same thing, in my world. The day worked out well, though. I swapped house tasks for things that could be done during a road trip today instead of doing them next week.

My solution to our still-to-be-sorted clutter was to get my own storage unit. We still have not resolved the stuff issue at home and we needed more space where we live. When hubby forgets where his things are, he roars around like a beast until I can get a word in and remind him that his stuff is living rent-free in my storage unit. I would rather be able to tell him this news as gently as possible (or as bluntly as is usually necessary) than explain why I did away with his personal effects and belongings. But this is just us. Hubby is not at a point where he is completely unaware and would not notice if something went missing permanently. He just forgets some things, some times.

@Shop-et-al. My husband has always been clueless about what things we have and where they are except when it comes to his "electronics". That too, I have to sort and organize so he doesn't paces back and forth like a raving lunatic when he is missing some cables or some piece of electronic junk. He turns the whole house upside down until I can pinpoint where things are. He refuses to be organised and hates the labeling I do on boxes.
I once dropped my very expensive ring coz I had taken it out and put it in my purse. I was getting my keys out to open the door outside and maybe it fell out. Next morning, I am looking for the ring frantically and I put 2 and 2 together. So, I retrace my steps right from my house to Kindercare where I used to drop my daughter. I had made up my mind that I won't tell my husband if I don't find it. He would never notice it was gone. Luckily, I found it right in the middle of the road behind a parked car, some 18 hours later. Gosh, it was like a miracle.

At home "under the weather" today. This means that tomorrow and Saturday will be frantic so that I can finish the last shops of the month. While resting, I am also learning Elvenor, a new-to-me online empire building game game. I suspect that this one is addictive, so I will definitely need more shops in the coming months. It is oh so tempting to buy upgrades such as more land.

So walesmaven, Susan L., and a mention of a game known as Elvenar made me think for moment about one of the sappy romance movies that I am prone to watch.... Grandma and Grandson are elvish mavens (no pun intended). and because the movie follows its necessary and prescribed course, Grandson finds his elvish soulmate. Adorable. Ooooohhh. Aaaaahhhh. Just so! Aaaaannnnnnyyyyywwwwaaaaaayyyyy...... the game sounds fun, but it has in-game purchases. Hmmph. Shouldn't a fantasy world include free stuff? (And how do you say that in elvish?) *goes away to start a search for the name of the movie*

Woke up early today to do several phone shops. Then, it was workout, lunch and just the same chores that make life feel..oh so routine. Then, onto science, math, and reading and who knew there were so many ecosystems. Daughter's got a video game from dad's childhood..Super Mario and she loves it. I am currently loving Perry Mason on TV. The show started in 1958 when my parents were not even born. That really makes it old but it really is interesting. Something about B and W shows/movies makes me all warm inside.
I love all eras of Perry Mason and especially appreciate something from the books. Erle Stanley Gardner made it a point to mention and praise forensics even as he depicted flaws in law enforcement methods and thought processes of the times. Their view often was sexist or otherwise slanted, according to ESG, but forensics could bring a measure of objectivity to investigations and outcomes.

Worked, arrived home 1.5 hrs. earlier. Made veggie lo mein and a side of tofu. Went to the outdoor concert with DDs and 2 beaus (not mine, ha, ha). The band was fabulous. 2.5 hours of straight music. We got down and boogied..... until we couldn't boogie anymore. Loved it.
Found a new fun show: Crime Scene Kitchen. This is an intriguing set of challenges for skilled home and professional bakers. It is amazing how one set of information can lead to so many different interpretations and outcomes! People who like Gourmet Detective, Pie in the Sky, and food competitions probably love this new show at least as much as I do. I wonder how many of these armchair food detectives correctly guessed each project based upon available information. I knew a few of them but more often than not I had never heard of the dessert. Alas. Having fulfilled my guilty food pleasure, haha, I must use the rest of today to make up a missed shift from earlier in the week (and the untimely tire issue). This is not nearly as fun as dancing the night away in Madetoshop's world, but whaddya' do?

It's supposed to be rainy all day, so I will go to the gym and use some type of aerobic machine to get steps in. Tonight DH and I are going out for a fancy anniversary dinner. The restaurant asked us questions about our likes/dislikes ahead of time and will prepare a meal with seasonal ingredients based on those.
