Installing 5/8" fire rated drywall in a 11'-6" tall garage. Checking the framing for true flat and shimming where necessary prior to screwing on drywall.

The new W-2 turned out to be a scam! They sent me a $1300 check via FedEx for supplies and equipment. I verified the check and it was bad. I left out to do my shop.

When I returned home, the company wanted me to deposit the check at the ATM right away. I let them know that I would need to verify the check prior to the deposit. I also told them that I would hold the check for 14 days before sending them any return cash.

No response!

I was going to say that this could be a crime for the Peculiar Crimes Unit, but... that is just sublime fiction... and on my list for today. Yay! Meanwhile, I finally found more of chocolate championships (mentioned weeks ago) to watch. Absolutely amazing. Along the way, I found a youtuber who likes to mix it up with arts and crafts and chose to follow along with painter Bob Ross and produce a painting with frosting instead of wet-on-wet acrylic paint. She did not say "happy accident" but it was a fun event and genius to figure out what to do with frosting effects instead of paint techniques when the happy accident moments occurred. But enough of that. It's my last shift this week at the talking heads r us job, and I need to remind myself that creativity is fun and good but unable to clean my place. I will have to do some of that tomorrow. Alas.

Yikes, Honnybrown. I don't know if that W-2 scam was for a shop, or employment. Either way, glad you came out of it unharmed. Thanks for sounding the alarm.

Honny, a couple of years ago, my son answered what looked like a legit job ad on Indeed, applying for it. Sure enough, within a couple of days he received....via FedEx....a supposedly valid check for $4,000.00 to "buy equipment" to set up his home office. Well, he knew then that it was a scam. He tore up the check and I don't believe he ever heard from them again. Sorry this happened to you as well, but glad you were on to them!!

I decided to go to an art fair. There was a forecast for scattered rain. Just when I was arriving at the venue it started sprinkling, and got steadier as I went. Eventually I pulled out my umbrella, which made it hard to step into the artist tents. After making it through the entire fair I decided to walk around the downtown area of the city and back to my car.

Up early today, did 2 loads of laundry and cleaned a bit. Then a family apple picking trip with 3 beaus. Apples are delicious. Went to the outlets and then to a CIDER inspired bistro for dinner. DD's are planning to make apple pies tomorrow. We shall see how that turns out. I have never made an apple pie so I am no help. Think I'll tell them to pick up my Mom, LOL.

Free day! Unless I change my mind at the last minute and go to talking heads r us job. There is so much work at home, though, along with a beloved B & M book and a need to add minutes to my workouts, that I will probably stay right here and do whatever I can to make it less messy and me more fit,

The real news is quite wonderful. Bro is on the mend. He is regaining strength and otherwise being prepared to return home and to wife/sil.

I got my front landscaping done today. I met dude while he was giving out his card at a gas station a few years back. He's great but only accepts cash.

Through the neighborhood list-serve I have found a lovely couple ( a fellow and his mother-in-law) who run a small gardening and landscaping business out of their nearby home. Last week they got rid of a huge, over-grown bush and a lot of kudzu from next to my front door. Today they came by and we figured out what to transplant, what to get rid of (too many day lilies!) in the small front yard of my townhouse. Once that has happened we will figure out what new perennials to plant in the spaces that they have opened up. Very nice folks and about half of the price of big landscape companies. Very knowledgeable AND they do not take any mark-up on plants of materials like mulch. They provide the receipts for those items to assure the homeowner of this. Now that the arthritis is a growing issue in my hands, I will need folks like them in order to have more flowers and fewer weeds.

Cut the grass of our almost 4 acres with the John Deere diesel tractor. It's nice to get some "seat time" with noise cancellation headphones and my favorite music on my smartphone. Tappin' my feet on the floor boards...life is good!

My gardeners have other clients who will benefit by having these day lollies transplanted to fill gaps in their gardens. Day lilies spread so much that if they were edible we could solve world hunger!

The apple pies were delectable. Shortcut to the girls (and my) dilemma - buy pre-made Pillsbury Pie Crusts. They baked 4 pies. Gifted a pie and apples to my next door neighbor. The other next door neighbor received apples. Both were delighted. :-) Delivering a pie to my Mom tomorrow and will try our best to get her to come stay for a few days. It was a beautiful day once again today. I wish all of you the best. Good night.

Day lily flowers are lovely in salads, the flower buds can be breaded and fried, and the tubers can be cooked like potatoes.

So our over-the-range microwave died and Hubby and I went to Lowe's to purchase a new one. There was one associate in the department (and one brand-specific rep who tried to help us to the best of his ability). Fortunately the model we wanted was in stock. We waited approximately 20 minutes (and another 10 to purchase and pay for the unit).

I left thinking that any mystery shop involving having an interaction in any appliance department in any big-box hardware store is now on my 30-foot pole!

I took my regular 2-hour walk this morning. The only difference was today I was lost in my thoughts instead of listening to a book.

My latest book is Killing Eve. I loved the BBC series, so when I saw it in the library, I had to read it.

What a day! Yesterday we risked a road trip in the car that has no cooling system. Oh. My. Helllllll. Today, I have been in bed most of the day with apparent 'dayum that was hot! syndrome' which is the closest thing I can find to full on heat stroke. We will have to use hubby's car for the rest of my work so that I can survive it. Meanwhile, hubby can make the appointment for the cooling system issue and I can do a little laundry before crawling back into bed. It's a good thing I woke up temporarily because there was a mandatory feedback survey for the talking heads r us job. I think-- well, hope-- that I answered all the questions as I intended to do...

Thank you. Later, I looked up that condition. I felt very much like Sheldon Cooper and his long lists of symptoms and diseases, but... anywaaaaayyyy... it was probably a combination of the excessive (for me) heat along with some bad food. Ew!

Today is better, provided that I move along slowly and don't stray from plain crackers and hydrating liquids. Soon, I will go to the library to return and renew items. This is the same trip when we get hubby's car all ready for its upcoming extra duty. Then, it is back to bed until work time. It has become absolutely mandatory that we work at least three shifts per week and at least one weekend shift per pay period in order to qualify for the across-the-board pay increase. I want the increase so that I can afford to stop at three shifts per week. If all goes as planned, I can work the two afternoon shifts and the one weekend evening shift. OTOH, the other qualifier is consistently above the call center average for completed work. This rarely happens when I want to work during the day because most people are willing to do the surveys at night when I want to be at home. In the worst case scenario, I will be available for more IC work. Win win, or at least not lose.?
