What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

They make to order, using liquid nitrogen to flash freeze the ice cream. Because the freezing took a very short time, the result was smoother and silkier-more like frozen custard.

Went on the community college bus tour that was cancelled last week. The tour went to a Mexican bakery, Greek restaurant, Italian grocery store (and at that stop we also had toasted ravioli from a restaurant) and nitrogen ice cream. Needless to say, dinner will be simple!

Tried to figure out how many cities and states I would need to visit in order to find the variety of places that HonnyBrown and KathyG went to recently. I would need at least two cities and two states. ? Maybe more?

So I did absolutely everything in every project up to this point. I am pooped but happy. This makes today all about the nap before work and work. If nothing else is accomplished, no one should be surprised (or laugh if you can hear me snoring all the way over there, wherever you are).

We are planning a trip to Canada in June or July after school is done. I am open to any suggestions on places to visit or things to do. Already on the list is the Safari and Niagara Falls.
Nursing two plants that departing neighbors gave us several years ago. When these plants were near windows and light, they were happy. One of them thrived while the other one stopped dropping leaves and was showing signs of making a move toward greater plant health. Now, we have been forced to move them twice (due to the inane egress thing which might not be supported by law. The legal requirement states that the owner must provide a minimum of two means of egress and does not address the concept that all open-able windows must be means of egress-- but that is a whole other can of worms). The process of being moved away from good growing conditions has damaged both plants extensively. I choose to believe that tptb truly means well and wishes only to protect everyone from every imaginable risk. The more cynical me posits that their insurance payments might be lowered or at least not raised every time tptb raises our rent and lowers our quality of life. But the end result is that we cannot avail ourselves of the advertised square footage, we cannot live here fully or otherwise as humans ought to do, and life-- literally life-- indoors and outdoors is squelched. Does it seem obvious that we should simply just stop wanting to be ourselves within space that we pay for with our own money? To some people, that is a solution. To me, it makes sense to use the next year or so to prepare for relocation.

Hubby is gone until Sunday morning. Today I went to a meeting, then came home to meet a window repair person and went to the races. Purged my 2018 tax files, straightened the house, replaced most of cold weather clothes in closet, washed some heavy winter layers. Later this afternoon I will leave again to run errands and do three shops while out.

Roasting beef marrow bones and then making beef bone broth. (after roasting, 24 hours in the slow cooker with veggies, seasonings and something acidic to bring out maximum flavor) .) I have plenty of time to fill since I am "sequestered" with the type of Covid that one might expect to get after 2 vaccinations and 1 booster. "Mild symptoms" include exhaustion, lethargy, constant cough, sneezing and sniffling, aching joints, but no fever. Treatment is lots of rest and lots of fluids. I managed to get groceries and cough medicine delivered to my door, so my house guest (who also tested positive) and I will have necessities and a few luxuries.

@walesmaven: I hope that you and your house guest will have as much fun as you can, on the road to a complete recovery.

Wales, sorry to hear that you're sick. I'm convinced that everyone will have Covid at some point.

So for the first time in a month or so, I feel like myself again. I did not fall asleep at work yesterday and I had time to enjoy a relaxing evening. Instead of spewing a diatribe, I can express this in a gratefulness way. When I am in charge of the order of events in my world, I can accomplish everything timely, well, and have time left over for the large and small grace notes of life. Having offloaded the undue pressure to meet absurd demands, I am free once again to do what is important and meaningful for me. All is well.

Many thanks for the good wishes, friends. After several days of no fever, I now have a fever. The thermometer reading surprised me, since I do not "feel feverish". Amazon just delivered overnight, so now I have the option of Max Strength Dayquil or Nyquil . In addition to lots of cold tea and water, I suspect that later today I will be sipping freshly brewed beef bone broth. I made it to freeze for use in future recipes but I suspect that it will do double duty as fluid nutrition since my appetite is low. My house guest is doing well and it is both pleasant and very useful for each of us to have a "covid buddy".

I took my newly retrofitted e-bike out for a first ride. It was great to be able to tackle the hills and long inclines without struggling.

The electronic scooter trend is above the law, apparently. These things are parked on sidewalks all around town. Meanwhile, we are in violation if we litter the sidewalks with toys, garbage, or anything that blocks the path of ambulation and necessary wheeled transport such as wheelchairs and walkers with/without wheels. Before a full-on diatribe develops, I take a deep breath and merely wonder and marvel at this opportunity to follow the money. Who gets the big bucks when anyone uses one of those bits of litter aka electronic scooters? That is whom the law favors, apparently. Good to know. As my siggy suggests, this might be better as a lesson than as a tirade. grinning smiley

It's Harry Wild day! Every Monday in April, two episodes of season 1 were made available. This is the last Monday of April and the last day for two new HW episodes. I wish for another season or so. I want to find out how Harry, Fergus, and their peeps will deal with future moments in their world. Harry Wild could be a bit like a grown-up Nancy Drew who is similar to her American cousin except for the British accent, being old enough for the generous use of the preserved plant life in both personal and detective life, and operating across the pond from Nancy's River Heights roots. Smart, funny, a tad (or more) awkward, and inevitably drawn into sleuth world-- that is our Harry Wild.

Awoke with a start at 3:30 AM, bathed in sweat and feeling "not sick." Got up and played computer games for an hour while sipping seltzer, then back to sleep for 3 hours to see if I felt similarly good in the light of day. I am now actually hungry for food for the first time in several days. Before, I was eating small amount out of a sense of obligation to ingest nutrients. Now, I am really hungry. I may go get a drive-thru covid test later today if this persists.

Annual Gynae visit tomorrow. Have to get a mammogram done the following week. It will be my first and I am just a little nervous.
Nothing to be nervous about. Nothing like the discomfort of old era equipment. Also, the techs are very sweet and upbeat. Above all, be proud that you are taking good care of your health! Sending a big, virus-free hug.

Spring HVAC service. Scheduled for 10 am-2 pm but got a text at 9:30 (as I was finishing up at chiropractor) that technician had been dispatched. He was testing outside stuff when I got home, then finished inside and was gone by 9:58 am. He told me everything was in good shape and should last years.

Just enough to qualify my existence on planet earth (I need to save as much energy as possible for the night shift at talking head job and for huge day tomorrow). Fortunately, Thursday is a "free" day.

Nature does not hurry, yet everything is accomplished. - Lao-Tzu
@walesmaven. Thanks! Hope you are feeling better. Visit to the gynae done. She wrote an order for a mammogram. Good thing they have an imaging center right in the building. Watching a movie on Amazon Prime. All those 90's and 2000's thriller movies are so good.
The huge day became a nap-fest and tomorrow's "free" day will be filled with all the errands that I had hoped to accomplish today. I feel infinitely better after this this sleep but need more. I have planned a sleep-friendly week for next week. If the weather is right then, I can take some of my naps on the porch.

Walked in a historical park and surrounding neighborhood. Ate lunch at a local restaurant called Mayo Ketchup, which I learned is a sauce used heavily in Puerto Rico and Dominica.

Fixed enough food for two, maybe three, days’ worth of meals. Washed both cars.
Errands and three tasks. Nap. Find out what is up with my car, which has been at the shop for more than one week. I am not in a rush to get it back. I only need to know what is wrong with the car and how much it would cost to fix it. Give my feet some love. They are experiencing some new and some recurring issues, and they need some kindness from me now. Long love my feet! Or something like that. grinning smiley

going to the store to use my otc to get my friend efferdent and trying to put together a bed frame I got.
For the past year I've had plantar fasciitis and other foot issues. Tried to buy shoes earlier in the week and nothing was comfortable. Decided to go across the street to a running shoe store. The associate measured my feet, scanned them, watched me walk coming and going, then brought out shoes for me to try on. I came home with something that cost almost twice as much as I'm used to paying, but my feet are the happiest they've been in a long time.
