Frigid weekend and not going anywhere. Went to Trader Joe's and COSTCO last night. Made onion soup overnight in the crockpot and ready for lunch today. So yummy. My Mom and I took Furry Baby Love for a long walk to the bagel store this AM. It is freezing here but we were dressed for it. Valentine's Day cards came out so beautiful. I must say they look professional. Gifted 3 of them to my neighbor along with a box of cookies. She loved them!

Our friends invited us over this evening and included my Mom a few weeks ago. Told DH we were not going. He was not happy and insisted that we go. I agreed as cancellation notice was not timely. I know we will have a good time but do not want to step out into the cold, darkness to go and return home.
Just the weekly garbage/ recycling. We live in the country. No garbage pick up. Actually it's a transfer station we can go to 2 days a week. The dump is further away for things that can't go to the transfer station.

Warm enough today for lightweight winter coat, so after dropping something off at Youngest Son's house Hubby and I drove a couple of miles away, parked the car, and walked. Got coffee along the way and popped into a store that sells to the restaurant trade.

When we got back to the car we drove halfway home and went to a new-to-us church for mass, then got dinner at a Mexican restaurant.

Going hiking, to scout a hike for hiking club. Beautiful winter weather here, which might mean icy trails.
Biggest decision, meeting others at 11. Eat lunch before hike, during, or after?
Getting help from tall, strong housemate for 30 minutes of moving/installing stuff that I cannot handle. Otherwise, KP, nap, playing computer games, making grocery and errand lists for tomorrow. So, pretty much a lazy day here.

Cooked breakfast at the church (today a casserole of rye bread/bacon/eggs/Swiss cheese). Came home, chilled, then took a walk to enjoy almost 60 degree weather. Back at home I turned off the furnace and opened the window on the sunny side of the building. Even if I have to close them an hour from now it's great to have fresh air!

Tonight we have to go to a wake for one of Youngest Son's friends, who passed away at the age of 36. His family goes to our church, so I suspect there will be lots of people we know there.

Lists for each day. Sooooclose to the end of all paperwork tasks, thank G. I was granted an extension of time; this is just what was needed. In my zeal to increase strengthening, I slightly overdid with the back. Oops. Just completed a quick food price comparison between dollar-type store and Wal-Mart. Might as well get everything at Wal-Mart. Greater selection and on some items, lower prices.

Loaded TurboTax. Will get out my 2022 tax file sometime soon and start inputting. I’m going to owe, so not particularly in a hurry.
A roll-out-of-bed-and-go breakfast shop, which has my diet all out of whack. (I'm not used to having large breakfasts or drinking so much coffee.) After finishing the report I caught up on internet stuff, then left to go to the jeweler for my every six months ring cleaning. From there Hubby and I walked around that area. Now I still have to figure out dinner and get ready for an evening Zoom volunteer meeting.

Today I did two loads of laundry. Then, since we got notice that our auto insurance with Liberty was having a premium hike higher than we wanted, I spent several hours researching rates. I checked with Amac, Geico and AAA. AAA came in the LOWEST and even about $150 LOWER than the price hike quoted by Liberty for a whole year, for our two vehicles. I thought, well, since we're members of Amac and AAA, I'll check with them, not thinking either would be any lower than Liberty....Geico certainly was not...it was HIGHER, as was Amac. Anyhow, we are now signed up with AAA, to start on March 5th. Now I just have to contact Liberty and let them know we are cancelling, after 3 years with them. I've been with AAA for their auto services since 2002!!!! First time using their auto insurance.
Subbing in various classes today. Tried to go for a X-country ski after work, but the weather's been too warm and not enough snow.

Grade 3 tomorrow and will wash the car as that town has the best carwash.
Day 5 of a ripped thumb nail and it is still hurting. Who knew grating beetroots could get you into much trouble? I was grating with probably more enthusiasm than I should have when I grated a little part of my thumb nail. Didn't start hurting until the next day. I will wait till Sunday because I hear these things are supposed to be painful and take time.
Meanwhile, I ordered a rotary slicer and shredder and it works great. Didn't want to get a bulky food processor with numerous parts. So, good riddance to that stupid, good for nothing, murderous grater. Yes, pain makes me so mad.
@Mum
Ow.

Grade three today. Wine on the couch now. :-O
A very short list of people I'll say yes to tomorrow.
Tough group of Grade ones Friday.
Cooked staff luncheon. Raining outside so walked at the mall. Tonight I have lost all ambition for getting things done so will sit on couch and surf the web.

Mum, I'm surprised I haven't beheaded myself with my kitchen cutting tools. I even have the cut proof gloves to wear when using my slicers.

@Mum, ouch! Hope you heal up quickly!

Hubby had a first-time dermatology appt this morning. The doctor was kindly, soft-spoken, and no-nonsense, with a warm smile. Doesn't talk a lot, or speak loudly, but knows his stuff! He froze off several dozen spots on hubby's skin over his face, arms, hands and back that were either aged skin tags or a few precancerous areas. He then looked at me and said I also had several areas on my face that needed freezing off, even though you can't feel any raised areas. I also have a fatty cyst on my outer upper right eyelid that he said he can cut out (he cut one off the top of DH's nose this morning!) So, when hubby goes back for his follow-up in 6 weeks, I'll be there again---but as a new patient this time!
The internet was out all morning, so I used that time to pick up around the house and run errands. In the afternoon I got caught up on online projects, then took a brisk walk outside. Hubby and I celebrated National Pizza Day by picking up a local restaurant's frozen pizza at the grocery store and cooking it for dinner.

I have been remiss. It is almost the middle of Black History month and I have not made a concerted effort with music. Fortunately, I found that Chanticleer and The Staple sisters have separately covered Sit Down Servant. Different sounds, equal fabulousness. Phew. I feel better now and always will when I hear this. Let's see what else I can find for my list of beloved music..... smiling smiley

Last Sunday, we went to a University of Calgary Quartet, who played music by Black composers. They spoke a little about each one also. Interesting.
Yesterday, was a long day. Grade one, dinner out then university hockey game. I'm not used to evenings out :-O
Today, several errands, a lot to do to be ready for busy beginning of the week.
Zumba class at the gym, pot of beans in the Instant Pot, Zoom meeting to plan a volunteer event.

Whoa, what a week. DDs are finally unpacked so laundry marathon tomorrow. After their cruising and returning to work the next day left a harried household. Last night, family dinner for 6. Finally got to hear in depth about their experiences. Today, Valentine's Day shopping in the AM. Tomorrow, Super Bowl Sunday; private party for 10. Invited my neighbor and hope she comes. Our team did not make it but hopefully it will be an exciting game. Ordered a 4 ft. hero and salads. Mom is making Cannoli cupcakes. DDs and I are making veggie, cheese and crackers charcuterie boards as well as a fruit one. I wish you all a great relaxing Sunday no matter how you spend it.
I FOUND a Quilted Heart!

What an awesome endeavor. DD #2 found one hanging in a tree in the park when walking Furry Baby Love. She was thrilled! Mom and I are planning to make some and hang them in public places. This is not restricted to Valentine's Day, it is forever as long as people participate. Find your inner peace and creativity.
Nothing more ambitious than hair, choose how much Super Bowl to watch, and whittle down a flurry of paperwork.that had begun to sprawl.

Coffee in bed and Coronation Street. A long walk, don't think there's enough snow for X-country skiing or snowshoeing
Today was brunch with a friend from Book Club. Currently preparing for my work week. Later will talk to my parents and watch the Eagles win another Superbowl.

I had a Moscow Mule with brunch. Gin is not a good option for day drinking!
