A peaceful walk. It keeps getting cooler and cooler, and darker sooner. I passed by two houses with Halloween decorations. One is a quirky neighbor whose humor is not appreciated and understood by all. He started on Labor Day, and it's gotten more and more vivid and elaborate. I love it! Looking forward to walking during the evening when more Halloween decorations are up and lit.
Oh yeah, starting to collect some candy and sweets around the house for Halloween. I feel bad for the kids who are going to get this, but I'm sure the don't really give a sheet 
Giggling at me gadding about in my "clown" pants. Lost a little more weight and shrunk out of these otherwise perfect pants. Will wear the smaller pants that fit well tomorrow.

@prince. I know. I just started Wednesday. Wed and Thu were half days but today was the first full day. Thank heavens, it was early release which meant I was off one hour earlier. Those Kindergartners wore me out!

Just got back from Copenhagen...
The women are tall, blonde, blue-eyed, and reserved (quiet). They are excellent commuters on bicycles. There are nearly as many lanes for bikes as there are for cars. A lot of female commuters ride bicycles with dresses. Classy. So all the stereotypes are true. The food is very good, as expected.
Now for the downside. Prices for food and beverages at establishments are very high. A glass of beer averages $8. (Oh, and an open container of alcohol is permitted in public.) A plate of meatballs, mashed potatoes, berries, and vegetable is $27. A fresh, right from the bakery, danish is $5.50. <These are the best danishes we've ever had however. In general, I've read that Denmark is about 40% higher in prices than the EU or US on average. There is a 25% tax on every receipt.
People ask...is Copenhagen safe?
Nope. The city will melt your heart!

I volunteered at a Casino for a charity last evening. My first time doing that.
My job was to sit by a phone in a room by myself. It rang three times for me to do my brief task. Then I sat for over 2 hours! Luckily there was a TV and I brought a book! Not what I expected at all.

Wondering now about the Danish danish (mentioned by maverick1). Besides freshness, what makes these the best? Likely to be ingredients and or techniques? Will look into that later today. Not wondering about the bike rides- regardless of how the riders are dressed. My bum is like the princess of princess and pea fame. There probably will not be a decent bike seat for me anytime soon. In other news, there is a football game later today and a chance that my team will actually win.

Here's what I found so interesting...the "Danish" is really not Danish after all. It's Austrian. In general, it's a very light, buttery, fluffy pastry like a croissant with a variety of ingredients added such as chocolate, caramel, apple compote, cheese filling, cinnamon, cardamon, etc. They may have some light sugar glaze on top. They crumble when bitten into as they are airy and delicate, like biting into a cloud. They are never heavy or overly sweet like the commercial "danishes" you'd find in the US.
From Wiki: "The origin of the Danish pastry is often ascribed to a strike amongst bakery workers in Denmark in 1850. The strike caused bakery owners to hire workers from abroad, among them several Austrian bakers, who brought along new baking traditions and pastry recipes. The Austrian pastry of Plundergebäck soon became popular in Denmark and after the labour disputes ended, Danish bakers adopted the Austrian recipes, adjusting them to their own liking and traditions by increasing the amount of egg and fat for example. This development resulted in what is now known as the Danish pastry."

Having my monthly lunch with my friend Karen, who is still doing pretty well, despite her stage 3 colon cancer diagnosed 5 years ago!
Today is hubby & mine 36th anniversary! At our ages (he's 83 and I'm 71), we're just happy to have each other and don't do or get anything special for the occasion, except thank the Lord that we have each other! He's supposed to umpire a girl's softball game tonight, but I think with the rain we're getting today, it'll be called off.

I had a dental cleaning today and tomorrow is mammogram with ultrasound. Getting all the yearly appointments out of my way. Hopefully things go well tomorrow. I dread having to wait for the results.

Perfect, quiet day. The one needed to prepare for the upcoming week. My teams lost yesterday, but one showed continuing improvement and the other fell to a truly tough opponent. Not so bad, is it, when seen the eyes of a longtime fan who appreciates the team learning curves and growth matrix as much as anything about the game.

@prince. I had Kindergarten with 14 kids on Friday and I was exhausted. Two program assistants who were there to help. Nice ladies but kept complaining about the kids and one of them cried because a boy hit her and she has been stuck with him since school started. She was old and didn't want to work with the kid with behavioral issues.
She just kept escalating the situation by yelling at him. She wore me out more than the kids did.

Where I go, the EAs are so well trained, and they switch half way through the day with those students. Doesn't mean we don't have our days.
