What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

5Guys prices went up again. School starts March 11, so I'm trying to get the bulk of my shops in before then. I spoke with my advisor, and she told me that I finish my coursework in March, 2020, and graduate in May.

That just got real.

I kill plants. I just do not have a green thumb. I bought a Lucky Bamboo stalk, the one you set in water and leave it alone. It died in less than 3 months. Hopeless.

I bought a windowsill salad plant online. I got it today and set it up. Wish me luck!

Luck! grinning smiley

Plants are happy here. Their little friends are plants, books, more plants, still more plants, and sunlight.

It's official: We will replace the embarrassment, aka worse than a beater and a jalopy combined, next week. The newer vehicle is perfect for the early job and for transporting stuff. Can you say, now it is possible to buy large items at thrift stores and schlep them home? In addition, it is less conspicuous than the embarrassment, which might be the best feature of the car!

Yesterday's planned grocery trip got postponed. So, Aldi and watch repair this morning. Then a late afternoon trip to take someone who does not drive with me to Costco and Giant Foods. in between, more catching up with laundry and setting up the slow cooker to make honey-garlic chicken thighs.

We belong to the same club, Honey!!!!

Anyhow, paying a bunch of bills online, reading the Forum, and going out in a bit to do my regular (non-shop) grocery shopping...giving the rain a chance to stop first!! So much rain already!!
guys, when I moved out of state, I gave my Dad a little seedling that I kept alive for 5 months. I was so proud of it. That was in the summer.

When I returned in December, the little seedling was a big, bushy plant.

While it looks easy, I don't have high expectations for the window sill salad.

I wrote eight recommendations for kids looking to do mathy-sciencey summer camps while proctoring quizzes.... No shops today.... I'm debating taking it easy tomorrow: I've got a casino in the evening and nothing else... Maybe I'll get out the chainsaw again and finish carving up the fallen tree in my yard...

Hard work builds character and homework is good for your soul.
Recovering from a flu. Yesterday, it looked like I was dying so today is a good day to be alive.
Ended up being a weird day....my receipt on a small restaurant job shows they charged no tax....then they guy's apron had stains all over it and I reported it. Then I get "People Magazine" which I didn't order, three's a charm, what next?

Counting the days until we have the newer vehicle... It is so bad now that we have to change the way we work... just a few more days... ohm... only a few more days, ohm... ohm...

@Irene, my recent odd receipt was not for a shop. It happened on my own time/dime. I paid with a credit card, and my receipt did not show a payment type. It showed that change was due. Intrigued, I sent the hubby back to order something else. Same thing: no record of the credit card payment, and change was due. No change was given to us. We did not ask for it. It was just... odd.

Saturdays are my catch up day. I will be having a nice lunch at a local bar/pub with good friends. Then I need to complete the weekly shopping, and go home to spend some down time with my lovely wife. smiling smiley

Irene, some days we just have to giggle about how odd the universe is !!

After a real sprint to the EOM in February (and in spite of bronchitis and a sinus infection that sapped my energy then) I am being what in my family is referred to as "all fally down." In other words, doin' a whole lot of "nuttin". Well a little laundry and cooking, but otherwise sleeping late and long, and being quiet. I had plans to catch up on a ton of house stuff, but had to realize that my energy is not yet near 100% yet.

Today brought the best news...quoting SEA....huzzah!! My daughter just texted to say she is coming in next Saturday, staying with her Dad who has the beginning of Alzheimer's and wants to see her before it's too late.
Her Birthday month has us all going to dinner, and thank G__ he is still able to know who's who. My daughter has him on a severe diet which research has discovered helps supplement the brain and slows things down.
The program delivers meals to his home, sugar being a huge no no, with liver being a yes yes.....I'm now using this a bit for myself. So anxious to see my girl, I was in Chicago last Sept., so time is overdue. Her boyfriend will be here and everyone will meet.....oh happy days...

Shop, I'm glad the hoopty is getting replaced. Someone at that restaurant is getting an unscheduled bonus.

wales, I'm happy you are feeling better. You have to give your body time to heal completely.

Irene! That is awesome about your daughter coming in to town! And, you get to meet the boyfriend!

Went to church, and now a lazy day watching some daytime hockey on tv.

Working the regular job, two fast food shops, laundry, making soup for supper - busy day as always.
Hubby & I drove up to NC yesterday, for my precious DIL's baby shower....it's a boy!! Baby is due 1st week in April, but my DIL dilated early when she had my granddaughter 3+ years ago, so we'll see!! It was great to be there, and to be with my family and see my precious granddaughter! The baby shower was held at a nearby bowling alley, given by my DIL's mother, because there is a LOT of family on my DIL's side, so having it there worked out great! My husband treated my son and myself and himself to a game of bowling. OK, so I haven't bowled in nearly 20 years, so my score was a measly .... 57 sad smiley . My husband's score was 80, and he was disgusted with himself...he's so competitive, he always wants to win in a competition. My son beat us all with a score of 121...YAY SON!! smiling smiley . And then, later on, my son played another game with some of the other family members, so we stayed and watched. Well, you know how most bowling alleys pipe in music, right?? So we're sitting at chairs behind the group bowling, and my 3 year old granddaughter is enjoying the music and says, "Dance with me, Grandma!" Yeah, right, like who wants to watch some grey-haired old lady dancing on the floor of a bowling alley, right??? But, she was insistent, so I just held her two hands and swung them around, and she enjoyed that. Phew!! We stayed overnight at a nearby hotel, and got back home early this afternoon. But it was wonderful just to be with them yesterday. Plus, my DIL received LOTS of clothes and other great things for my soon-to-be-born grandson!
Sounds like fun, guysmom! smiling smiley

Sitting at home, frustrated as heck. We were headed out on a 4-state route with a side trip to Vegas (for fun) when the engine caught fire. We are both fine, but the van needs about $1000 worth of repairs.

The arctic chill this week means I won't be able to get under the hood to start repairs for several days. I HATE being stuck with no wheels and watching hugely bonused jobs sit unclaimed. Especially when I desparately need money.
What about renting a cheap car to do shops ? Or if you are going through insurance, they sometimes give you a car rental reimbursement.

The insurance doesn't cover the fire. I had most of my shop kitty tied up in the hotels and gas, so I am waiting for all of my deposits to be returned. The only cash I have right now is my gas money. The deposits will all come back about the same time as the thaw starts, so until then I am stuck.
@stormraven73: That S U C K S !!!!!

It could have been much worse. At least it happened less than 15 miles from home, and all but one hotel was refundable. If it had happened a few hours later we would have been stuck in the desert at night in the snow.
Your van caught fire? How?

Your insurance won't cover it?! Why?? That' surely catastrophic!

I am so glad you are okay.

I only have liability coverage. As for how, the power steering pump failed and leaked fluid onto the catalytic converter. Simple mechanical failure, so nothing for insurance.
So sorry @stormraven73, that is really a crappy thing that no insurance would cover. The worst part is those converters cost a fortune.... sad smiley

Storm, so glad you are all OK, and what a blessing that you were so close to home and not in that desert!!!
