What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

Going to a new store called Treasure Hunt that is from the Dirt Cheap family. I discovered Dirt Cheap Stores on my travels to Texas. Here in the LA area the same company opened CCM in Commerce and now Treasure Hunt in Fontana. Great deals on mostly Target brands. Worth the drive especially if I can find the $5 outdoor curtain panels with grommets like I did in Texas.

Update on Vacation...trip was the best, spent lots of time with both daughter and amazing boyfriend who I love as if he were my own. They spent every minute with me, we ate in fabulous places owned by James Beard award winners (no chains) and no reports, walking, music festival, shopping at their 7 floor Macy's, use to be Marshall Fields. Pushed it to the end and I missed my flight and waited at airport for 4 hours for a non stop.....thanks all for the B-day wishes, nice to come home to.....

I'm just thrilled to see how happy the two of them are, and how well they mesh...makes a Mothers heart soar. Thanks Jas and everyone, your support is welcomed.

Well, instead of taking a nap I have booked my birthday present to myself. It will be over a month after the actual date, but it was tough getting everything arranged using only rewards points earned mostly through MS work.

So here goes:
Fly non-stop to Seattle.
Two hotel nights, one at the airport and one a luxury place with early check-in on the waterfront, next to Pke Place Market. Both hotels have restaurants. I plan to eat fresh seafood at least 2 times a day, if not more.

Then board the train to Minneapolis, with a full bedroom (with bathroom), and all meals.

Once in Minneapolis I will probably stay at an Airbnb run by a long-time MS friend. Then I have enough more points to fly home.

Yes, you have to be a train nut to do this and think that it is fun. I am a train nut.

My ex told me that his mother passed away a few days ago. I am not sure how to feel about that. I am not sure IF I should feel about that.

Felling a bit sad is o.k. I had the same thing happen, and did feel passing at 90 she had a long life. I didn't go to the funeral although she loved me.

I know he was a piece of work, but was she nice? Even if she was not, you can feel sorry for her.

She loved me, but I didn't...like?...respect? her. She was a loser and she made my ex one as well.

I offer my condolences to you. She was, to some extent, a part of your life for awhile. Now, she has passed on and that is a significant event. Perhaps her life was a tragedy that never was eased.

I never did get to Macy's sale yesterday. So, that is on the list for today, along with lots of laundry, a quick stop at Aldi (not a shop) and, perhaps, a pedicure. This week will be filled with non-MS chores: dropping off alterations (and getting them fitted), a trip to the county dump where they can deal with things like old batteries, lap top, light bulbs, space heater, and a dead computer screen; a large donation run to the local charity supporting PP (1 block from an MS lunch); taking a screen door to be "re-screened;" another big grocery trip; and a long mentoring session with a friend who is going to be a gang-buster MSer. That will probably also stretch into an orientation to video equipment.

I intentionally took far fewer MS assignments this month because I need to catch up with 3 months of deferred errands and tasks supporting the household. That will also give me some slack at the end of the month to hunt down EOQ bonus shops.

Major car trouble, so who knows, but our town has a transport for folks over 55, make a days appt., and for two bucks they pick you up and take you within ten miles, so if car is in shop for a few days, that will be it for me.

Watching on TV the battering of Grand Bahama island. After being through Irma two years ago, I really worry for those under Dorian. I see video from inside the eye and after only one eye wall, all leaves are off the trees and roofs are gone. These folks still have to go through the other eye wall and the storm surges. Irma moved by us quickly--Dorian is now moving at only 1 mph. The devastation will be more than extensive. Spare some prayers for these folks both for now and during their attempts to recover.
We took a new membership for an amusement park. We got bored of Six Flags and decided not to renew the membership. This new park is called Santa's Village Azoosement park since it has a petting zoo too. It was fun feeding the sheep and llama at the zoo. Lots of rides. Had lunch at a Mediterranean place called Pita Inn. I am positively buggered today. Tomorrow will be loads of work.

Last week I sold a rather large, bulky, item on Ebay. This afternoon, my long-time housemate and I will laod all of its parts into my car and take it to FedEx to be professionally packed and shipped. This morning, I will take the screen insert from my storm door to a place that can replace the screen. Then I will assemble the batch of chicken enchiladas that did not happen over the weekend. This week's calendar is filled with household tasks, like making a big deposit of electronics at the county reclamation center (aka, annex to the county dump), donating stuff, etc.

WOO-HOO!!! So glad for you, Honny!!!
The office is a mile away from the NASA Greenbelt center. It's across from a national park, so I will have my chance to exercise daily.

I got my offer letter today. I start on September 23!

Honny, I know the national park that you will be near. I visited it when I got my Golden Age NP pass. Just be aware that not all of the human "residents" are registered guests. I would avoid being alone there around dawn and dusk.
