What are you doing today? (besides shopping)

Setting up the BIG slow cooker with chicken feet, onion, carrot, celery, etc. to make chicken stock; picking up the RX that was not ready yesterday; picking up the new glasses that were not ready yesterday; recycling and trash out; on-line shopping for ventless washer/dryer combo for my kitchen. (Going Euro-style with LG or its Kenmore Elite clone. End of model year, so big sales.)

Today is my second Bible study of the week , this one is on John. It a city wide Bible study. We also will have a small socail after class. Then we have an earand to run for my son in a town where I do have a shop today.
Alieda, I hope you enjoyed your bible study smiling smiley

My son has his 18 month check up this morning. Don't really have much else on the agenda.
Smiling at and blessing the constantly expensive car. It seems to thrive on repair dramas. Maybe it is the four-wheeled version of a drama queen? To offset the expenses, I added another MSC and got a new shop.

I have a dentist appointment tomorrow. Today, I went for my lunchtime walk. On the way back to work, I stopped at a food truck and got a lobster roll. Boy, was it good!

Had a very quiet and lazy day.....got my hair trimmed up and shaped. That always feels good!
today I should try and get some housework done. Need to clean the bathrooms , mop the floors , clean my glass front door .
I'm taking my son to his swimming lesson this morning. His check up went well yesterday, he's as healthy as can be, and they gave him a new book.
Today I am doing a parking shop quite close to the charity resale store where I need to donate a couple of items that accidentally got left in my vehicle when I made a huge donation last month. Then home to reduce and freeze the chicken stock that brewed all day yesterday. Also, to freeze small batches of the Costco pesto sauce that comes in a very large size.

I am studying the guidelines for my new shop. I added it when I added a new MSC. I 'should' be constructing a bookcase, but that will wait until next week because I have crud and, somehow, must drag my carcass to work! In other news, I just watched "Mr. Holmes", in which Ian McKellan plays a retired Sherlock Holmes who is brought (with memory often balking and occasionally flashing) out of retirement. Sherlock plies a sly, dry wit and a cane. Holmes is faltering but still with us. This Sherlock Holmes could win an oldster's bucolic Survivor! But here, he overcomes greater challenges. With a little help from his friends, he sees where he erred as a younger man and how he can avoid the same mistake when it presents in his 93-year-old-life. Age 93 is a few years away for me, but I hope that when I am 93, I will be like Holmes in that I am logical and also able to see the connections between actions and outcomes. It would be nice to have the country estate, too... grinning smiley

He-he. Last night I watched a 1945 Sherlock Holes film with Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce. It was set in 1945, with costumes and taxi cabs from that era. All was just as nutty as the ones set in Victorian Era (or was it Edwardian? or both?)

After some local shops, I will team up with housemate Kathryn to move a table to make room in the dining room for the combo washer/dryer unit that will be delivered on Sunday. Sears' Outlet price was $700 less than list price! My contractor returns from Maine in about 10 days and will install it in the kitchen while I am at IMSC in Las Vegas. One more step toward being able to AIP (Age-in-Place. No more trips down 2 flights of stairs to the basement to do laundry.)

Today is for one assignment, one personal research project about gluten/gluten-free for humans, and the next stage in the book project. If I am still awake later, I will watch Season 10 of The Big Bang Theory. I need to finish this mini-marathon before Monday because I have a few assignments and a need, no, an itch, or is it A Command From The Inner Perfectionist Who Might As Well Have Been Christened As Madame Commandante, to Build The Bookcase Already!

Macy's having a sale ending at 1:00, so, here I go again, looking for (of all thing) a dress for Thanksgiving and holidays. fun day, I've said before put me in a mall, I'm a happy camper. Will have a coffee and sit in the beautiful Patios outside of mall, check phone, people watch, and perhaps, get a nice bowl of soup somewhere. Just hanging out until I get home when I will watch a movie, do personal stuff and watch the day go by. Weather has heated up today, not stressing, as the song goes, "Be Happy".....

Im sitting in the Nissan waiting room while my oil gets changed. I have been waiting for months for a highly bonused shop to appear, but they haven't. At least this oil change is free.

So yesterday I opened up a roadshow at a Sam's Club, a very well paying event. Went in at 6 a.m. and left at 4 p.m., dog tired at the end of the day but boy am I going to have a great paycheck when this is all over! There is another lady who works for this company who was supposed to work today and tomorrow. I was told she has to drive about 30 miles when it's half that distance for me, so yesterday when I was done with my shift I emailed the two supervisors in charge of this project and told them I could work today if they needed me to but that I needed to know right away as I was going to pick up other work for today otherwise. I already have another demo tomorrow so can't work Sunday. They responded no, you are off until Monday, have a good weekend. I applied for some bonused shops for today and went to bed. Apparently after I went to sleep, this other demo person (who had gotten my number from them) called and left me a voice message which I didn't hear because I was asleep. She said on the voice mail that she had a family emergency and could not work today (supposed to be at the club by 10:30 a.m. and work til 7:30). I didn't check my phone this morning when I got up so I didn't know, but checked my email and I had been awarded the bonused shops. The woman called again this morning at 9 a.m. and I was in the kitchen getting coffee and didn't hear my phone. She called again around 9:15 and I answered. She coughed and faked a hoarse voice and said who she was and that she couldn't make it in because she was very sick, asking if I could work today. Her voice fluctuated between normal sounding and fake hoarseness (I raised 3 girls, I can tell when someone is faking it). I told her I had other work today and that she should have given me more notice, and the idiot said, "Yeah I have other work today too, and I have the flu, and I did try to call you last night." I asked her why she was going to do other work if she had the flu, and why she had picked up other work if she had already been scheduled for the demo event? She hemmed and hawed and said no the work was for next week. I said, "Well that's not what you just told me. But at any rate, no, I can't go in for you. Sorry." After we hung up I listened to my voice mail and her message from late last night (almost midnight) where she sounded fine and the second one this morning where she left a fake sick voice right before I talked to her. A little bit later when I was drying my hair, I got another voice mail from one of my supervisors asking if I could make the demo today because the other gal is sick. I emailed her and the other supervisor explaining I had already picked up work since they had told me yesterday I wasn't needed and that I would go in Monday as scheduled.

So, should I tell the demo supervisors that last night the other person left a message at almost midnight with a perfectly fine sounding voice and then this morning faked a cough and sore throat and also said she had another job to do today? I am pissed off that this woman who I don't even know lied to me and tried to get me to cover her shift, and feel like my supervisors (new company for me) deserve to know.

Okay, on my way to do these shops. Over and out.
JAS, the supervisors have probably already figured out the other person was faking. She probably left the same msgs for them. I wouldnt bother saying anything.
Which is more important, she didn't sound sick last night and did this morning or last night her excuse was a family emergency and this morning it was the flu?winking smiley

I'd leave it alone, don't make more problems...if this is her thing, she'll get caught, unless you want to just say she called last night, but didn't give you enough time. Let her handle her own flaking out. Glad for your paycheck, I know it's a lot of work, but anyway good for you

JAS, she's trying to pull one over on you. Screw her, and let the MSC sort her out!

I always find it insulting when people lie to me, it's insulting to my intelligence and also insulting to the merchandising company reps. She lied directly to the owner/president of the company who is one of my direct supervisors and is the person who trained me (it's a very small company).

Jas, I used to work as an in home caregiver and one time I was conned into filling in for someone who was faking sick. My boss called me saying the other girl wasn't feeling well and asked if I could fill in for her the following day. I agreed and the client was shocked to see me (the other girl had been at her house the previous day and didn't act sick at all, even though she called our boss saying she was sick). My client told me the other girls boyfriend was in town so she was likely faking to spend the day with him.

The funny thing is if she had been honest about the reason I still would have filled in for her, I was happy to make some extra money and enjoyed spending time with this particular client. I'm sure she knew faking sick wouldn't make her seem flaky or unreliable but cancelling last minute to be with her boyfriend wouldn't give a good impression to our boss.
I'm going to church this morning. In the afternoon hubby and I will give the house a quick cleaning because we've got company coming over this evening. These friends were supposed to come for dinner a couple weeks ago but one of them was sick so we rescheduled for tonight.
