Pitting sour cherries. Wish I could figure out how to do this without my back screaming at me grinning smiley
Missed my hike for this.
Getting some groceries and voting.

Perfect day. Cool. Rainy. Thunder-y. Mind you, rumbles and grumbles do not coincide with tense moments of the audio mystery, which would add a little drama, but it is perfect anyway.

They make a pitting tool.

Voting? You mean separation?

Note: For those who don't know, Alberta is considering a referendum on secession from Canada due to long-standing grievances about its place within the Canadian federation.

Not today, but yesterday I was at DCI Finals in Indianapolis. And there were among corps members some Candian participants! I think at least the Troopers, out of Caspar, WY had Canadians in the finals. Each corps carries nation flags of their active members leading into the final procession.
Enjoying first day off after closing out summer semester yesterday.

2/3 of the students did not do sufficient work to pass the class.

The lack of work ethic among (mostly) Gen Z is truly troubling.

Ok Cool Music, this is begging some questions:

1) how long have you been teaching this class?
2) do the students reside in the city, suburb, or rural area?
3) is the class graded on a curve? (I'm sure you know of grade inflation over the past decades)

I still have to stand or sit and operate the tool. Time consuming and my back doesn't like it. Delicious pie though..
Not the vote to quash the separatists, yet.

I'm sure it is delicious...and without all the preservatives to maintain shelf-life. Enjoy!
Worked in person and it was so, so hot. Co-worker in big trouble for fraudulent expenses possibly totalling over 80K. During my career, I have realized employers will allow you to hang yourself before taking action. Santana outdoor concert cancelled due to heavy rain and thunder. Pizza and wine party moved indoors to our home.
Worked. Business lunch at STK. Beautiful restaurant but way overrated and priced for mediocre food. Bought a Longchamps bag on my way home, LOL.
The current critter lesson is kinda' sad. Due to a papilloma type virus, some rabbits are growing little protrusions. Recent-ish news image shows something that slightly resembles jackalope. *sigh*

ORIGINAL Santana group??? I had their albums back in the late 60's/early 70s. They must be getting on in years, wouldn't you say?? Maybe not them???

True Italians believe pizza and wine is odd. It's pizza and beer, pasta and wine, cappuccino never past 11am. Oh, and it's called gravy, not sauce.
@guysmom. Definitely not Santana. The bands are local and sometimes feature music of well known artists. Most are excellent and enjoyable.

I'll be making gazpacho at home and doing other work...supposed to be hot here today, likely the last hot-hot day of the summer.
Current critter lesson: audiobook about owls.

Making Saskatoon Berry crisp and baked beans.
Hiking club coming for Smokie roast after hike tomorrow.

ok, a Smokie roast? is that the Canadian equivalent of the US hot dog or wienie roast?

sausages? frankfurters? simple curiosity.

Next time I am up that way, I need to try these Saskatoon berries.

The best berries I've ever had were in the most northern regions of the world.
Washed and waxed truck for spouse attending a friend's bday party.
I'm prepping the online content for the 4 classes I will be teaching for fall semester, my first full contract in my 10th year of of doing this.

One class is an online audio production class that I have moderated a couple of times for summer semester, so tweaking that to fill 3+ months will be the most involved.

The LMS (Learning Management System) we use is the best in the biz, but it still sucks (my M. Ed. specialization is that kind of thing).

Even though it has a check box for shifting the dates when importing previous content, it doesn't work. So I get to manually change the dates for every quiz, assignment, announcement and discussion.

They get their money's worth out of us adjunct professors before the semester ever begins.

Smokies are just large weiners as far as i can tell. People like them. The buns are bigger too. Hoagie buns.
Hiking and gathering went well. smiling smiley

Tomorrow is day 1 (of the week to track my online minutes). Reading library books skews the results. Listening to them, not so much. I can listen while doing other things. So. Minutes necessary to complete library materials plus minutes to complete personal and gig-related activities = the amount of time that is reasonable for me to be online.

Day 2: on average, i have accrued a week's worth of online time for this week.

@CoolMusic

I hope all the students have a thirst for learning like I did in school (and still do now). Although I'm sure some students had their arms twisted to attend.

Community Colleges can be a great return on investment if done properly. I have a Community College degree that focused on the integration of computer-aided design (CAD), computer-aided manufacturing (CAM), and automated systems to optimize production processes. Graduates are prepared for roles like CNC machine operators, CAD/CAM technicians, and manufacturing engineers.

It helped me get a foot in the door as a manufacturing engineer. I leveraged that into a four year business / engineering degree.
Fugedaboudit. I will deal with online minutes later. It is time to reread (well, listen to) Sense and Sensibility.

Drive to city for medical appointment. Nice lunch at a brewery.
Yesterday was trail maintenance and short drive to a different city, for a late lunch.
