Hurricane Irma

As I ponder whether to stay or not to stay in the possible path of a Car 4-5 Hurricane, I notice that I have lots of shops scheduled for next week. I tried to extend the ones scheduled for next Monday to much later int he week but they only go out 3 days, I may have to reschedule the entire week. What a bummer. As it is, I am having a slow September.

Thanks for the heads up. Above all stay safe!!!!!!!!! ! The clients know about the locations and, as we have seen with Harvey, are adjusting shops as needed. I believe they will do what they need to do about shops/shoppers because of Irma. Did I say, "Stay safe"? I meant to say, stay safe.

I read that it's quite possible it's moving south, will skip Miami, and hit NO again.

My daughter is in mid florida and she already boogied on out of there up to Virginia yesterday. It is very unfortunate that it costs money to hunker down or leave, plus loosing income. Hopefully you will get superbly bonused shops later this month.
A company that won't extend your deadline due to a natural disaster is not one you should keep a working relationship with.
Huh? What assumption?

I should have posted this under Shop-et-al's post. Most have worked with me but I have a bunch of shops scheduled and some don't give a crap and will NOT reschedule.
Thanks for clarifying. It didn't make sense as a response to Misanthropesmiling smiley

I feel terrible for all those in suspense. Side note: my brother's wedding was scheduled for the 10th in the US Virgin Islands. Needless to say, it's postponed.

OP, I really recommend not gambling with your safety. Even if it is extra expense and hassle.
I am also in South Florida and in Irma's path. I got a couple of emails today and yesterday about a local shop that needs to be done today...furniture shopping. There was a pretty good bonus for it too, and probably would have done it if it was not for the gas shortage we are currently experiencing.
I'm in Orlando. I've done my prep work, just in a waiting game to see what happens. Our outlook is slightly better than it was yesterday.

I took a shop at the local mall at 5:00pm yesterday. Was there by 5:30 and the mall was shut down. I emailed the MSC right away to let them know the situation and I have gotten nothing back. I'm not worried though. They'll figure it out.

On a side note, if there are any shoppers in Orlando that need last minute help with something, then PM me.

My daughter and grandbaby evacuated yesterday out of Southern Florida, it's already raining and dark there. Thank God they are safe and sound here in Michigan with me!

Don't debate, evacuate.
A friend of mine lives in Key West, she left for Gainesville on Wednesday and left Gainesville yesterday for Destin (where we grew up). She's really upset because she wasn't able to take her cats and I hope that they will be okay but it doesn't seem likely. My nephew is in Orlando, my sister is in Tallahassee, my oldest brother is in MacClenney, and my other nephew is in Fernandina Beach. I am hoping for the best for everyone in the state, especially in the keys. I think my family will be okay.

Key West is getting blasted. Wish she would have taken her cats sad smiley
My cat is a foster but I've had her a couple of years already and they still pay for everything.
I wouldn't leave her, she's a lazy and stupid cat. When I turn the water fountain off she throws a fit, rolling over, twisting and screaming and walks toward me with her hind up, walking sideways like she's going to kill me. They will only be lucky if they find a place to hide but most domestic animals left behind in the Key West will not survive.
There are so many wild cats in Key West, too. Her cats were all strays that she adopted. She had five of them and the people she was going to stay with wouldn't allow her to bring them. I wonder about the cats at Hemingway's place? There were a whole bunch of them, right?
Yes! My daughter lives in Vero Beach and we've been there for inspiration. TMZ had Mariel Hemingway telling the curator to take the cats and get the hell out!
Your post made me think about the Hemingway cats. I don't know how wild or tame they are and that will most likely determine their fate. I am more appalled the people she was staying with would not allow her to bring them. We develop real emotional attachments to our pets. There is a good chance your friend will already be returning to a lot of devastation leaving her life turned upside down for a long time. Not only has she been deprived of a source of comfort and continuity, she has the additional stress of worrying about the fate of her companions.

I know, I bet she will end up moving back to our hometown. I am sure she will have a hard time dealing with coming home to the loss of her animals and most likely some or all of her possessions. I don't know the people she was staying with in Gainesville or why they wouldn't allow her to bring them.
The curator for the Hemingway house along with 10 workers are staying in the house. There are 50+ cats with them that are all boarded up now. The house is made out of limestone rock and is not going anywhere.
I sped a lot of time in Big Pine Key which is the closest big island to Key West, they are getting hammered. I had a friend posting a live feed from his house there. He stayed. Marathon is completely under water. I love the Keys, hopefully they rebuild quickly.

Feeling sad as Sarasota,Fl. is in the path of the storm. That is my favorite place ,I almost moved there 4 yeas ago to be with my love, who is no longer there due to Dementia. Sometime's things happen in strange ways ,but my prayers are with all that lost their homes....

Live consciously....
Parts of Fort Lauderdale went down Friday, I think I was told. If it's not the hurricane, its still hitting other places as a bad tropical storm. It's terrible weather.
