I will own up I'm bent and this is a vent post. Thanks for reading.

Microsoft and I aren't on the same page. It took 2 hours with a representative to get my address book to sync with the newer laptop. I also tried to figure out a way to start up the newer laptop without requiring me to enter my password for Microsoft 3 times. I don't have the time for that beeswax and my important stuff is protected with convoluted passwords.

Some creep wants to steal my money, laptop or phone...go for it!
A. There is nothing to steal.
B. My credit rating isn't the best (I'm working on it's improvement but it does take years) The few cards I own wouldn't get anyone through an emergency door at a hospital. I lucked out that I had enough for the vet yesterday. My little guy is a tank, but when he gets hurt, it destroys any extra money I thought about using for a new tablet or phone. Every.Single.Summer! For the last 3 years.

He had an impacted gland that burst. He didn't scoot, so I had no a clue something was wrong. My little guy isn't a complainer. He's not a lapdog, even if he is ChiX.. When he crawls on my lap instead of playing ball, I know something is up. He's fine. I flipped out because I know he's probably my last dog and my hands & clothing were covered in blood when he crawled into my lap.

Back to the point. I understand why Microsoft, Google and Apple have rules. There are people that probably need the rules. I'm not one of them. And I'm over it.

Thanks for reading. I realize I'm all over the place with this post. I'm still flippy about the dog. Theoretically, he's the last one.

Okay since we started a vent thread, here goes: this has nothing to do with a shop but I was on a shop when it happened. I was in the convenience store checking the shelves and store to make sure it was clean and stocked when I heard this woman chastising this young man who was high functioning Down's Syndrome. She was at the register and she scathingly told him, 'No, that's not the kind of bottled water that I told you to get, three times already. It's supposed to be xx brand!" He looked so sad and said he was sorry several times and went back to the cooler and got the one she obviously wanted. I first thought maybe it was his mom, but then noticed she had two more young adults with her that were developmentally disabled and they were standing waiting on him near the door. She had this nasty look on her face as she said, "C'mon, hurry up!" He said, "But don't you have to pay for it?" She snapped that she had already paid for it and stormed out the door with the group in tow. I was flipped out and speechless, other customers and the cashier were all looking at each other wide-eyed. I bought my items and went out to my car. As I backed out, I noticed the silver van with the group sitting inside. As I pulled behind it to leave, I saw "her" with the driver's side van door open, texting on her phone and smoking a cigarette. I was so pissed. I was on a tight timeline to get to my next store and complete it by 2 p.m. so I left. But, as soon as I was done with that last stop I googled the business name on the van and got the number for the DD in the city I was doing the shops in and called to tell them about it. I had the description of the woman and her license plate number and filed a complaint. I sure hope she gets some sensitivity training and learns that being kind to her charges is a heck of a lot more important than her nasty cigarette habit. Geeze.

Unless someone's life was in danger or a crime was being committed, I would not involve the authorities. You saw a glimpse of her life. Maybe it was the worst day of her life due to other factors, or maybe he had a history of doing it to tick her off. Or maybe she was just a nasty person. The point is, you don't know. Why not call the business instead? That gives them a chance to rectify things.

The authorities? I called the DD, which is the agency she works for. Edited to ask why you think I would call the DD about any crimes, that would be totally weird.

My bad. Didn't know what DD stood for.

No problem, but my writing that I googled the business name on the van to get the number for the DD should have been a dead giveaway. Have a good day.
in msing context dd usually means direct deposit. perv forum members think of something else.

He's back to normal as far as I can tell. He is healing well and not licking the area.

Thank you for asking.

JASFLAMT, good for you. Maybe if more people would take the time to report those types of situations, the news wouldn't be filled with horrific stories of abuse.

I'll be honest, I had no clue what DD meant either. Actually I still don't. DD was the name of the business?

The business name on the van is for the company who was hired by the Dept. of Developmental Disabilities, which is who I called to file the complaint (DD for short). I wrote that the young man was Down's Syndrome and that there were two other young adults who were developmentally disabled so I didn't think I would have to explain what DD was.
Ah. I had no clue DD meant Dept of Developmental Disabilities. Honestly thats the first time I've even heard of it. Hence the confusion lol.

Yes, if I was in a mystery shopping discussion (this is general chat) discussing a job payment, then DD would likely be about direct deposit, but since I was discussing a situation with developmentally disabled young adults, well....
I think the problem is nobody else has ever heard of this department, and certainly wasn't familiar with the acronym. Acronym Finder has 214 possibilities for DD, none of them are the Dept. of Developmental Disabilities.

Yes. Sigh. I get that. But if you read what the post is about it should be pretty obvious, griff. If I was talking about a payment situation, DD would be direct deposit, etc. I will be verrryyy careful to spell everything out for you in the future, LOL (laugh out loud) no matter how obvious it is so I don't confuse you anymore smiling smiley

Nobody else has ever heard of it? I think several people read the thread had heard of it. Correct me if I am wrong, guysmom, Kathy, Lisa, MA Smith, CQ, margovt.
But it's not obvious. It would only be obvious if one knew what DD was. A quick google search shows that only Ohio and Arizona have a Dept of Developmental Disabilities. The other states call it a Dept of Developmental Services.

I honestly thought you meant DM (District Manager) and mistyped until it came up again in the next post.

I did not know specifically what the initials stood for, but in the context of the story just figured it was the governmental department charged with protecting the disabled.

Nope. My reading comprehension was fine. I think you just seriously misjudged how clear you were being. Even if you had said I called Developmental Disabilities I wouldn't really know who you were talking about as I've never heard it called that. I mean I would understand that you called someone this person reported to, and I understood that initially, but still wouldn't know that you called a government agency that this person contracted to.

I didn't know exactly what you meant but I assumed the same thing Lisa did. At any rate, you did good.
That was a three to one ratio, involving three alleged dependents to one alleged adult. Is that typical? I ask this because one of my unscheduled tasks/opportunities during a gig was to help find an errant dependent. The person in charge of (2? 3? 4? persons) was patient and mellow. The person who wandered was independent, momentarily, and mighty eager to have his experience. The others were staying closer to the person in charge. It all worked out perfectly. The person in charge stayed calm, a few people helped in the search, and the group was reunited. Everyone went home reasonably happy after their excursion. That was an example of how things ought to be, just in case...

Anyway, there may have been a clash of wills. A rattling of sabers. This is common among all categories of persons. Disabled persons have the right to be disagreeable as do non-disabled persons.Disabled persons have the right to challenge authority or persons who squick them, as do non-disabled persons. We do not know who or how those persons are in other settings. Was anyone exhausted? Was anyone the most trying they have ever been? Was this a spat that was resolved in the meantime?

It is unfortunate that this happened publicly. It was unsettling, and the witnesses won't get closure or a settled feeling from knowledge of the outcome. That is tough to handle. Good for our member to vent here.
