PayPal

Back in April, I did a purchase with a clothing company and opted to use PayPal. Big mistake! I received the coat in the mail, and it was too small (cut, not my waistline). I returned it. I forgot to put the invoice in the return box. That's where the fun started.

A few weeks later, I called the seller (a company, not eBay) to find out the status of my refund. They can't locate the order. I file a dispute with PayPal.

PayPal gave me a provisional credit. The credit was reversed when I could not provide a tracking number. I called the seller to get it and found out that they credited the purchase on May 4. wtf

I call PayPal. The have no record of it. I call the seller. They say the refund was rejected.

What recourse do I have?

That's good to know, I have never used paypal for a purchase (just MSC $). The money you had will show under transactions, other than that, I don't know what to say, should be on your computer....I would guess it's the retailer's fault.

Have you tried their telephone support service?

I've always had someone answer the phone quickly and solved my issue knowledgeably. You log in and then go to 'support' and click you want to telephone. They give you a code number which you use to identify yourself on the telephone.
I am not sure why you are blaming PayPal for your failure to retain the shipping receipt.
Did you initiate the return thru "Resolution"? Did the seller issue a return label? You can track it that way. Did you create a label yourself - that you paid for? If you did it yourself online & printed it out, you can track down the # that way, too.
Because PP rejected the refund, they have no record of it. I'm doing a dispute with them over this.

I called them yesterday. They are not seeing the rejected refund. The issue was rejected to The Higher Ups.

I take full responsibility for not including the paper work.

Omg - I feel for ya! Regardless of whether you remembered to include a return slip, my point was that there was most likely a digital receipt SOMEWHERE that had the tracking info.... You didn't stick a bunch of postage stamps on it- right? I hope it goes your way....not fun.

Its one thing not to include the paperwork in the shipment. It is another thing not to have retained your receipt for shipping it.
PayPal is contacting them to find out what happened. The original dispute was rejected.

Why would I keep the receipt after it was received? I know the answer to that now!

Update on this situation:

I changed most of my PayPal payments to direct deposit this month. Only one MSC pays solely by PayPal, and those fees are very small. They got eaten by the negative balance.

I called PayPal to find out the status of the rejection investigation. No one could tell me anything.

I called Michael Kors to have them reissue the refund. They told me that they have reissued it several times, and each time it was rejected. They are issuing me a check this week for my refund.

I call PayPal to tell them the conversation. They ignored the rejected refund part, and tried to collect the debt.

Needless to say, I will not be using PayPal.

I'm glad you are getting to a resolution but that sucks about PayPal.
*hands Honny a mocha latte*

Thanks kimmiemae. I used PayPal for the protection, and ended up getting screwed by them. Never again.

I got another provisional credit that got reversed. Before the reversal, the PayPal payments that came in from the low fee MSC were transferred to my bank.

Update: I had so much trouble with Bill.com and we finally resolved the problem, it now works.....UGH
I only use Paypal for my MSC deposits, will keep it that way.

I've made some online purchases using it and had no issues, but this makes me wary about doing that in the future. Thanks for the heads up.
I recently bought something online and they were huge on using and setting up a Paypal purchase account, wonder if companies get a kick back...didn't do it, don't need anymore problems, although anything can happen, and I do trust Paypal, just didn't do it.

I have a merchant PayPal account and I've never been offered a kickback. Wish I had. I have to pay them every time I accept a PayPal payment.
@HonnyBrown Sorry PayPal is being such a butt. What a pain.
I never had a Pay Pal account until I returned Mystery Shopping and I had to set one up to receive some payments. I've never had a problem so far <knock on wood> I am sorry Honny for your problems. I understand your frustration.

And the drama continues....

PayPal received the tracking number from Michael Kors. No further action is needed on my part. Really??

Because PayPal is rejecting their refund, Michael Kors is sending me a refund in 6-8 weeks. Seriously?! It's been escalated to some higher up to address that. It did not take 6-8 weeks to receive my payment; why should I wait that long for a refund.

Again, i am stuck in the middle.

I am still fighting PP for a refund on an item I never received, ordered last September. They can be a real headache.
I've been with PayPal direct deposit for 12 years, using it only for MS pay, which gets into my bank the next day...never a problem and it's never cost me a penny. I'm a big advocate for PayPal, but. won't set up other accounts, however I had huge problems with Bill.com which has now been resolved. Sorry honny

Michael Kors sent me a refund check today. I deposited it into my checking account. When it clears, I will pay PayPal to clear the negative balance.

All but one of my shopper payments have been changed out of PayPal. The only one left only offers PP as a payment option.

The check from Michael Kors cleared today. I sent PayPal a bill pay check to bring my account to zero.

@HonnyBrown Sounds like your immediate issue has been resolved. If you feel like it, you may want to contact PayPal and as for the fraud department. From what you described, it would appear they placed a fraud block on your account, which will prevent some transactions, including refunds. Their fraud investigators have a lot more leeway to research and resolve issues without escalating further.
