It is too early for me to choose "my" candidate. However, I always lovelovelove early days in the campaigns. Who will make it all the way? Who will evolve on the campaign trail? Who will drop out, for whatever reason?

Isn't Bernie about 90 by now?

Our votes don't count unless there is a tie.

The internet doesn't make you smart. It makes you good at regurgitation.
I'm not sure, will see who is running Democratic beside Sanders, will be a very interesting election, however, it doesn't belong on a mystery shopping forum.

I thought this was a forum that I could come to and not be faced with "Politics". I thought this was a mystery shopping forum, I hope we can get back to that.

GETTING IN SHAPE IN 2019
I was planning to go to the gym today. But I got a better offer from the ice cream in the Freezer!
I was planning to exercise. I am. Still planning.
I was planning to eat right. Right after this hamburger, fries, and shake.

general chat = anything goes
I found the OP's presidential endorsement highly offensive, particularly the addition of "and so should you" after telling us who she was voting for. Political endorsements are far worse than spam and forum members are deactivated for repeated spam. I reported the offensive post to the moderators. If enough forum members report it, perhaps it will be deleted.
I did not mind it at all. The upcoming US Presidential election might horrify, amuse, annoy, or otherwise affect people. We are so global that some of our work might be impacted by elections, transactions, and issues here and elsewhere. Nonetheless, I will stop short of delving deeply into Brexit (it o-once was approved but now is being dissed, why can't they decide over there..) That was sung to the tune of Amazing Grace.

I'll probably be voting for either PedoJoe or HeelsUp. My vote doesn't really matter since my state is solidly blue.

But, I thought there were no politics allowed here? It never ends well.

Seriously, nobody cares that you're offended.

Always vote. You never really know when one of the races on your ballot is going to be extremely close. You may not think that you can affect your state's vote for national leadership, but the local elections are a very different story - as are voter-initiated ballot measures and initiatives.

As for the actual presidential race, I would not count on the "color" of your state meaning anything at all this time around. In 2016 solidly blue states went red. In 2018, red states went blue. Despite what pundits on both sides say, nobody has any clue what's going to happen in 2020.

I don't see anything offensive about putting your beliefs out there in the general chat forum. The title is clearly labeled as political, so if you're not into that, don't read it. Unless we start getting into calling each other names, I see no harm in laying out your beliefs and reasons for them in an open forum. I supported Bernie in 2016 but so far I am leaning towards Julian Castro, Cory Booker, or Kamala Harris in the upcoming contest. It is still way early, but is shaping up to be a an interesting political season to say the least. Most importantly, no matter what your political ben is, every vote counts, so please participate.

Worry about the 2019 election first.
These "off year elections" get overlooked so much, but these are local elections, and in many ways, affect you as an individual, just as much, if not more, then the national elections.
Good point @KA047, these are important. I am working to get these rescheduled to the general ballots in November with the presidential and midterm elections. Not only to save costs, but to increase participation. Getting a lot of pushback here as most of the players like the status quo. Very little participation means easy victories in these too often ignored elections.

@meanviking, I agree. It would be better if the OP had stated some policy positions he/she supported. I may, as it gets closer to election day, and some positions become clearer, post some of my own. My post was to encourage the posting of similar messages in this forum. If you have some opinions on the early race, I would certainly be interested in hearing them.

Medicare for All. That is a policy position he has never wavered from. Some other candidates have included this in their platforms as well.
@heartlandcanuck, yes and that was the reason I supported him in 2016. Most people don't realize how much they already pay, or their employer pays, for the current system. Yes, there would be higher taxes, but I know for a fact my employer pays 10K a year for my families health insurance on top of the 5K a year I contribute. What I would like to see is a discussion on why health care costs so much in this country compared to others.

One factor in costly health care is lawsuits and large settlements & judgements. Medical providers must pay for expensive insurance and document every decision and action. Sometimes, this involves expensive/extensive testing and procedures. Someone must pay for those expenses.

The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it. - Terry Pratchett
Collections and bankruptcy is anther issue. If a provider is not paid, they have to split the bill with the collections agency; if a patient files for bankruptcy, the provider has to write off the whole bill. The provider still has to make payroll, pay for equipment, and maintain the building. The unpaid medical bills have to be added to the price for those who can and do pay.

With universal health care, there are no collection agencies getting a cut. 99% of the people who come through your doors have the same plan and the bill will get paid.

Health care, as a whole, is less expensive if people have access to take care of the little things. For example, if someone has a circulation issue, coverage for foot care is a lot cheaper overall than an amputation. A trip to the doctor for a simple round of antibiotics could keep someone from showing up at the ER with scarlet fever. So many people cannot afford their deductible or co-pay so avoid routine, medical care unless or until is it an extreme emergency.
For years, I was against a single-payer health care system - for all the reasons cited by conservatives. However, just like everybody else, I saw my health care premiums skyrocket. Frequently, increases in my premiums completely wiped out raises, leaving my take home pay lower than the previous year. At the same time, deductibles and co-pays went up while coverage and benefits were reduced. This was not okay.

At times, under Bush, the GOP had control of the legislature and... did nothing. Health Insurance companies were making record profits and I was getting hosed. I did not like the idea of the ACA, but the democrats passed it under Obama. And... my premiums continued to rise. I'm not convinced that it was a great move, but I have to give the democrats credit for trying to solve something.

In 2016, the GOP took control again and did everything they could to destroy the ACA. But, they have yet to present anything that can even get the support of their own members. Yes, with the presidency and control of both houses, they could not put any sort of plan into place. Nothing. Even today, they don't have a coherent plan for dealing with health care. Meanwhile, my premiums continue to rise.

Most modern democratic nations have nationalized health insurance and seem to be content enough to keep it. I'll pay another $500/month for that if I can stop paying $800/month for my health care plan - especially if it gets rid of co-pays and deductibles. I'll even be more thrilled if I can get medical bills paid without having to argue with private companies as to whether or not they should pay for treatment and tests that the doctor ordered while I was in the ER.

I am convinced, at this point, that the extreme profit involved in the health care industry has driven insurance companies to try to profiteer of the little guy (like me) in favor of enriching enriching CEO's and shareholders. The Epi-pen fiasco put me over-the-top.

I'm sorry for voicing my opinion kimmiemae. It was certainly not my intention to "stir the pot". Had it been my intention to do that, surely I could have come up with something (right or wrong) to attack both the OP and the candidate, even if personally I agree with both the OP and the candidate, which I may or may not. And you may feel it's appropriate to chastise me for this reply, which is certainly within your right, note that I'm already apologizing if you feel that way smiling smiley

CureMS, you are not the pot-stirrer among us. kimmiemae is referring to someone who actually IS a pot-stirrer and most of her threads are pot stirring threads. and they appear to be started merely to stir the stew and raise controversy.
I was not referring to you nor was I chastising. I'm just really sick of the theatrics on this forum and those who cause them.

Hey everybody, don't worry. Trump promised every one that he would give us a bigger and better health care program. Still waiting.
Yeap, pot stirrer.
[www.isidewith.com] is an excellent site to see which candidate most aligns with your views. It' non-partisan and simply compares their public statements with yours.

I was surprised to see John Delaney so high up in my results. The rest of the list was not surprising.

ETA: I've been informed that the site owner contributes to Sanders' campaign (verified), so take that into consideration when looking at the answers. Modifying my "non-partisan" comment -- however, it's still useful.

Seriously, nobody cares that you're offended.
