Amazon Fire Stick

HA! No. The fact that the Fire Stick is imbedded in the TV is the problem. Searching for anything with "Fire TV" brings up a billion hits on its own.

@eveb, my spouse is soooo bad. You don't know how many times my kids and I left the house only to have him chase after us to turn the 'tv' on. Now he knows how to do it. Will wonders ever cease? Although I do know our options for VOIP, me being a PITA had our home installed wireless. Minimal Holes in our walls. I have read there are problems with dropped calls in my environment. I hope they have made improvements and will research again due to this thread.

Thank you. I actually found an app on Amazon to add to my tv directly. It is supposed to address the dropped wifi issue.

Thanks for the link! I'll check it out.

There aren't many station apps that offer live tv. I can't see myself making that streaming only change. Verizon is expensive, but worth it.

Bought a used device from eBay and have been very happy with it. You pay only taxes for the service. Ours is about $4. We haven't had any call clarity issues with the phone, computers, tablets and Roku all running at the same time on the internet. I have Xfinity 60mpbs. Since we have their internet, I'm about ready to try their cell service for him. He also is a Neanderthal as he doesn't have a cell phone. It's also taxes, unless you use more than 100gb of data, which I doubt he would, then it's $12 gb. Even at $12 that's not bad. It uses Xfinity WiFi hotspots and Verizon. You have to already have their internet.

This thread makes me laugh. A billion years ago when we bought this house there was only one cable provider available. We subscribed to basic cable. The cable company got bought out by larger and larger companies and now it has incarnated into Spectrum. The thing is that our basic cable and wifi plan has survived all these incarnations so we are paying less than $50 a month for both wifi and basic cable. We seem to be grandfathered in to an amazing price. We are very reluctant to change anything as that could send the dominoes tumbling.
We barely watch tv anyway and when we do we generally get entire seasons of the best shows on loan from the library and binge watch them. This is also how we watch movies. I can't even count the thousands of dollars we have saved.

You young whippersnappers will never know the joy of climbing onto the roof to change the direction of the antenna.

CoffeeQueen, I laughed out loud about climbing on the roof. I remember my Dad on the roof yelling to us if the picture was "clear". Do not ever change your cable plan as the dominos will fall and your bill will quadruple.

Amazon did an update to my tv. The result: the apps that use my Verizon log in for now follow Verizon's OnDemand policies. That means I have to wait a few days to see a new tv show.
