Amazon question...

Question for Amazon members.....I keep getting emails from Amazon (I presume), saying I received a gift card.
I do not answer as I don't want to be scammed, however, today I get a letter saying "Congratulations Irene"
our promotional Dept. shows you have been scheduled to receive a $250.00 Amazon Gift Card with an offer code....is this for real, I have never purchased anything from Amazon...is this how they work and should I try?

I avoid those emails entirely. And, I have been a member and used Amazon hundreds of times. I think those emails are scams. They are probably phising for your ID details.

All scams. I can identify the real emails from the scamming ones. I am a member of several panels from where I receive Amazon gift cards. When they send an email, the email looks drastically different from the other scam emails. Unless you are expecting a card from somewhere for any kind of work done, it is unlikely that Amazon would send a gift card for nothing. At least, not in my case.

Irene, it's a scam. I'm an Amazon Prime member, and the most I've gotten was a 20% off coupon from them.

On another note, how have you not bought anything from Amazon?

Guess I'm not an online shopper, except for Poshmark where I'm currently selling my good clothes.
Remembering the saying, if it's too good to be true, it's not true....250.00 card, how do these people get my email and address?

Well, my curiosity got the best of me, not that I don't believe forum members, we may be too quick to yell scam.
I called and found this to be an actual 250.00 Amazon card, however given by an electric company wanting to come out and do work to cut your electric bill. Totally legit......

Sounds like an awesome promotion, but at the same time, you'll probably have a days worth of work total to fully engage yourself in the company's hard sell, plus continuous follow-up's if you choose to not sign the dotted line.

It reminds me of those wonderful gift promos to check out a car and see if your local dealership would hard sell you a car.

Very infrequently shopping the Greater Denver Area, Colorado Springs and in-between in Colorado these days.

Irene SCAM! I got a phone call saying they were Amazon stated that someone charged $700 on my account, just another Scam. Amazon does not give gift cards or call you for anything.
These scammers are trying everything lately. I just today got a call from Scammer telling me they were from Microsoft and they needed my IPA number etc. Just for fun I said, "What country are you calling from?" Answer, "Washington DC. " I asked, "What state are you calling from, answer, "United States." When in doubt ask a question related to our government or ask," What state they are calling from?" Really funny.

My Amazon card was bought as a reward to get solar people to install as this is the big thing in L.A.
Not given by Amazon, which I have never used, they wouldn't have my email...but my email is sold due to jobs from MS'ing. While doing a junk removal job, I kept getting more emails, mailers and such, they sell #'s for business. I know Amazon doesn't need my business and would never send me a 250.00 card for nothing.
