Holiday Funnies

My cheap SIL invited us over for Christmas Eve. This was a first in our lifetime. $50/person. Said she was going to order some food from the pizzeria. I couldn't maintain a straight face when my DH asked me if we wanted to go. Uummm, no, my family and a few friends were coming to our house.

I"m not sure I understand. She wanted to charge her guests $50 per person to order pizza? That can't be right.
I hope no one participated!

Very hard to believe, yes indeed. I don't know if she was planning to order catering dishes as most others pizzerias in our area offer in addition to pizza. Didn't ask, don't want to know. No, Honny, no one participated.
My family occasionally gathers at a pizza / chicken buffet place. They have private rooms available for free if you come with a group of people. Everyone buys their own buffet and we use their room for the family get-together for free for a couple hours. They take care of all the meal prep and cleanup. And no worries about that relative who can't figure out that it is time to leave so the host can go to bed.

$50 would be dinner for 4 or 5 people there, depending on time of day and mix of adults / children.

Our Big Dinner alternative this year was a chili in the Instant Pot. Easy to make, easy to clean up, feeds plenty of folks when served as 3-way, and tastes great on a Winter day.
