Just wondering how Cettie (and other mods) would have private information about posters? Serious ask.

In this instance she had specific logon information on all users, which included IP address history. So for years she was feeding Sybil and others information about users' login IP. Specifically where users were located and more specifically she relayed information about users who had more than one login or had left under one name and returned later under another. The instance that got her caught was because she posted a reply to a user that included what city she was located in when the user knew no other members here and had never posted anything that gave a clue as to where she lived. Prior to this I had already alerted Jacob that one of the moderators was giving this information to people as I had lunch in Austin, TX with a former member and she relayed large amounts of this information to me. I was not aware at the time if this poster was or was not a moderator or who gave her the information, but it was information that only a moderator would have had.

As for other information, I don't know what she or other moderators had or have access to. I know it varies by the software used for the forum. Most forum software also allows for the owner to turn on and off what information moderators can see. I would HOPE that moderators were limited in what information they can see after this instance. If not they could have access to practically any information you have given, and that includes private messages in some software. Again, I have no clue what moderators can and cannot see on this particular board.

That is scary to say the least, the fact she was in with Sybil is appalling., and by the time they found out, the damage had been done.

Thanks for the explanation. Most people on here would not be difficult to find and/or identify, which is why I wondered. It's too bad because Cettie had a lot of good information. But if she can't be trusted, she shouldn't be a mod.

I think most people would be easy to get to a general area. In the case Cettie made a comment about the specific small suburb of Houston the poster was in. That's what I saw. There were other posts in the ensuing conversation that were deleted before I personally saw them. Perhaps there was more.

Hmmm... that doesn't seem like enough to boot someone unless she was threatening the person. With some minor research, I'm sure that at least a dozen frequent posters' actual addresses could be had. I get kicking her from mod status if she used confidential information, but booting her from the forum? That seems harsh.

I probably don't have the whole story. Above my pay grade.

Did she get booted? I mean, like, officially? I only mention that because usually a message will show like "banned" or something under their name if you look at an old post they made. The banner used to be pink and I've never seen it under Cettie's.

Word was that it was permanent.

For some reason I thought that she was given the option of staying and no longer being a moderator and she refused. I honestly don't have any clue where I heard that or why I thought that so it can be taken with a grain of salt.

Who was it that never capitalized? Remember? Only lower case letters. I have not seen that in a long while.

Piled Hip deep; is afraid of being scammed. The money people are offering does not make me want to go out to the car and turn the key. I remember food places that do not offer shops anymore. The post office was offering shops I could make a route and be happy adding shops that I would not take unless they were along the way.

Wow! I have been out of the loop for about a year (mostly lurking, due to a new job-no time!) It sounds like there was some real drama. I am glad there are still some familiar names left! I really do appreciate the assistance and suggestions that I get here.
