I am disappointed in you. I would have thought you to be better than that. Even in jest, that is not even remotely funny.

Had meant to respond to this earlier, Opanel, but worried I'd write a less than satisfactory response in my state then. I'm sorry that I didn't think through my words and used a horrible disease to make a point about something that I had been frustrated about (the lack of social distancing of others around me). You're right that it was poorly thought out and offensive. I am ashamed I made such a joke with a disease that's caused a lot of pain for others..

My words right now probably won't do justice to the offense and hurt I may have caused. But I deeply regret them (no excuses - I was thoughtless) and am sorry, Opanel!! (((((((HUG)))))))

Apology noted. Thank you for that.

Don't apologize.
@sestrahelena .. OMG, that ridiculous commercial puts me right over the edge. "Stupid" doesn't begin to describe it accurately.
Pet peeve: people protesting because they want a haircut when mine looks like that kid from The Little Rascals.
I don't mind the protestors at all! They want grooming, and they might not have the skills to cut their own hair well. I can't cut my own hair well, but II am not protesting in order to get a haircut;. I am just taking care of my hair and letting it grow until.... whenever I can get to a salon and a pro.

I appreciate hair pros and nail pros and all the people who can give us a better version of ourselves! They need to ply their trades and earn money. And, people with disabilities or other self care challenges might always need pros to help them out with various tasks, such as cutting hair or trimming nails safely. This whole anti-protestor thing needs to be thought through... oi!

Nature does not hurry, yet everything is accomplished. - Lao-Tzu
Actually, some people will not. For these people, the hair and nail services are indispensable. Essential! Long live the pros who do what we cannot do!

Think about it. Every single commercial starts with piano sounds and then a soft voice starts in with some easy looking still shots. I was in Ace Hardware yesterday and they even had their own piano sounds and a voice over saying how we're all in this together...Drives me nuts!

CQ, it had been 13 WEEKS since I last had my grey/white/S&P hair trimmed up, and it was really getting the best of me. It just felt SOOooooo unkempt!! So, I checked out a few Youtube places for cutting old ladies' grey hair in layers, and just cut it myself a few days after Easter!! And I am SOOOooooo surprised!! It actually came out very decent!! There are several boo-boos in there, and it took 2 or 3 extra snip-snips here and there over a couple of days to fix some areas, but I am SOOOO pleased with how it came out!!! Not that I would continue to do it, because there ARE some places that aren't quite right. But I'm the ONLY one who knows where they are, because being in layers, it's easy to hide the mistakes!!! It was somewhat scary and challenging, and took over an hour, but once I got past that first cut, there was no turning back!! So now I'm all set till I can get to the hairdressers!
Oh, I forgot -- every spring, I so look forward to the Easter Bunny tryouts for the Cadbury chocolates....I get tickled seeing all the critters trying on bunny ears.

No Cadbury commercials this year. No egg hunts, no Easter Parade, hats, new outfits. No special masses, Cantinas (some kind of singing), all the celebrations that normally occur this time of year.

Missed them.

I guess that sort of qualifies as a "peeve".

a.) hair cutting is definitely a skill!
b.) not sure I'd call it "essential," but possibly for like a news anchor or someone in a high level business environment, I could see that person calling it essential

Trump probably thinks its essential for his hair. winking smiley
I am pretty smart (no genius, though) and I am unable to cut my hair properly. For me, getting a good hair cut by a pro is essential. OTOH, I am casual and have long hair. As long as I don't fry it, I can skip appointments. Meanwhile, POTUS and other world leaders are on display and have some intrinsic executive level duty and responsibility for the hair. Somewhere back in time, how long ago dependeth upon what is presently believed about the origin and nature of time, it might have been written, or pounded into rock, or entered onto papyrus..... Thou shalt set the tone with they suits and thy ties. No detail shall be overlooked, including but not limited to thy hair, thy brows, and thy nails. And so be it forever and forever and forever, as this is recorded in the ancient yet always current annals of executive instruction and function.

"properly" is key word. ANYONE can cut their own hair....what it looks like afterwards is the question. winking smiley
Standing in line for 35 minutes to get into the supermarket. The employees have all been nice, friendly and happy though.
Actually, no. I have some trouble with my shoulder that prevents me from raising my arm for anything more than a few seconds at a time. Five minutes of trying to reach the top of my head repeatedly would have me on pain killers for two days.

Unless my hair grows down to where it can be cut with my arms at my side or in front of me, I cannot cut it. Properly or otherwise, i cannot cut it.

ATMs. Bank lobbies are closed. So it's drive up or ATM. How does it take a person 20+ minutes to use an ATM? What are they doing? Buying a house? Writing a novel? The choices are limited. Read the questions. Answer the questions. Done. Gone. It's not that hard. If you don't know how it works, step aside, watch an instructional video then come back when you're ready. Sheeesh!

Last Monday I got an email from Panera telling me they'd give me a free bagel every day for a week. I have to order online, and the two locations near my house are hit or miss having them in stock.

Not in Sweden they did it differently than we did. They stayed open and percapita deaths are lower than ours So yeah we are all in this together but did we have to be?

I needed a hair cut in December but couldn't get an appointment. Then in January and February I was out of town on routes. Finally work slows down in March and i had an appointment scheduled for March 19th when all hair salons were closed. Not only is my cut long and out of shape but the ends are so blonde. Its that point in length that within a few hours the weight drags all the curl out. I hate fighting with my hair so its now in a bun.

I am not doing a nail appointment right now. With all the hand washing and hand sanitizer, my nails and cuticles are so dried out, my cuticles and skin on my hands are so dried out, for the last 2 weeks they have been cracked and bleeding. I am now wearing gloves instead.
Do you have a source you can quote for the Sweden vs US deaths? I had heard the opposite.

You can find a global virus tracker at:

You can click on the columns to see who has tbe highest per capita rates--Belgium has been the worst for weeks, without much discussion in the media.

Also, Johns Hopkins Uni has another global tracker:

Thanks. I am familiar with the Johns Hopkins site, and the other is also interesting.

I am still curious where 2stepps got their information.
