Nursing homes.

I wasn't sure where to post this but my friend is being held in a nursing home against his will. I have done nursing homes but not this company Accordius Health. He was a fall risk but says he can walk fine now. His doctor outside of the nursing home released him but the physical therapist in house won't. Can they do that and are there advocates that could help him. Thanks in advance.

I would start with your state attorney general's office.

Based in MD, near DC
Shopping from the Carolinas to New York
Have video cam; will travel

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.

What state is he in?
North Carolina, he got stuck there because of the virus. He actually lives in Virginia. His 20 days at 100% Medicare ran out too. They said they tried to find a nursing home in Virginia to take him, but now I am wondering if they only tried their affiliates.

We ran into a somewhat similar situation and the nursing home claimed the doc/hospital had released him to their care so their decision was the final one. We contacted our insurance which got him out the same day. (We have an Advantage plan but even his supplements are likely to step up for him.)

That is good. I will tell him to try that. I am only a friend so, I cannot make the calls for him. He talked to someone with Medicaid but not Medicare.
I'm a licensed insurance agent not in North Carolina or Virginia. However if I can help you, p.m. me and I will do my best.

I have contacts in the legal and senior community as well.

I don't know if it would help in this situation, but you might try the elder abuse offices in that state. They may be able to advise you, if nothing else.
