So where are the stimulus checks ?

The IRS web site says that they mailed a check to my on Jan. 6. Mail for suburban MD does not come out of DC, bu out of some regional office, so the riots on 1/6 should have had no effect.

Anyone else seeing long overdue stimulus items supposedly in the mail ?

I got the same result when I checked the IRS website. If checks are not received, the stimulus payment may be made when the recovery rebate credit is claimed on 2020 tax returns. The IRS announced that due to tax law changes and economic impact payments, additional programming and testing of their software is needed. Therefore, they won't start accepting returns until February 12.
Mine came via direct deposit right away... Apparently some “checks” are coming as Visa cards and people, assuming they are scams, aren’t watching for them. (There was a local news story about this.). Have you been watching for that?

Hmm,
Neither of my housemates have gotten anything. One is supposed to get a check, the other, a direct deposit. I would definitely have opened any envelope that felt like a credit or debit card was enclosed.

I do not expect to owe any additional tax, since I had what should be sufficient withheld for 2020. I have not seen or heard anything about tax credits instead of direct payment.

"Eligible individuals who did not receive an Economic Impact Payment this year – either the first or the second payment – will be able to claim it when they file their 2020 taxes in 2021. The IRS urges taxpayers who didn’t receive a payment this year to review the eligibility criteria when they file their 2020 taxes; many people, including recent college graduates, may be eligible to claim it. People will see the Economic Impact Payments (EIP) referred to as the Recovery Rebate Credit (RRC) on Form 1040 or Form 1040-SR since the EIPs are an advance payment of the RRC."

If checks were mailed by USPS, they could take a few months.

@HonnyBrown: lol!

According to the website my check was designated to be sent on Jan. 6th. We'll see...

On the Get My Payment site, it says my (& hubby's) check is scheduled to be mailed Jan 6, so, nearly 2 weeks ago. Nothing yet. I live in SC. My son & family live in NC...same scenario for them. It says on the IRS site (& other articles that I've read) that MAILED checks could take UP TO 4 weeks to be received!! I read an interesting article on cnet this morning on how to request a "Tracer" on the check from the IRS once the 4 weeks have gone by. Another option may be to claim the Recovery Rebate Credit on 2020 tax return, but I think that's mainly for the folks who don't see any date on the Get My Payment site. Here is a link to the article. It was very helpful.....

I'd be interested in seeing how many others on this site that are getting a check/debit card in the mail haven't gotten theirs yet, either. Glad to read that some have, though!

Just had a thought, Wales....if yours and ours are being mailed out of Baltimore, we might just as well hang it up!! My sister lives outside of Baltimore, in Parkville. She JUST NOW (Monday, the 19th, actually) got her Christmas pkg from our brother who lives right outside of Richmond, Va!! And she STILL HASN'T received the mystery shopping pkg I sent her on the 6th of this month. SOOOOO.......if our checks are coming out of Baltimore and have to go through the Baltimore mailing processing center, we could be in for a LONNNNGGGG wait!!

I checked the payment site and it also says Jan.6 for me. Haven't got mine yet. I'm in Idaho.
One of my brothers got his on direct deposit on Jan.4.
I don't know why they mail mine(they did the first time too) as they have my bank info for direct deposit from my taxes.
Mail for this area of MD comes through a major sorting facility in southern Prince George's County, not through Baltimore.

My parents just received theirs in the mail yesterday. Funny thing is, the first round they got in the mail right away. Their refund check from their taxes arrived 3 months after it was mailed. I have convinced them to do direct deposit.

No stimulus on my end, but did get my PPP approved today. Applied on Monday, so quick turnaround! smiling smiley

Congrats! That is amazing, considering all of the problems of delays at the start-up last year.

The first round I received my paper check 4 days after the Get My Payment site said it was mailed. This go-round, still no paper check yet even tho the GMP site says it was mailed on the 6th. I don't understand why mine doesn't go in direct deposit. True, for the past many several years now, I've neither received a refund nor had to make any payments to the IRS, although I still file every year. But I AM a senior citizen and get my SS payments via DD every month. So the Treasury DOES have my banking info. I just don't get it.

If the check doesn't get here within the 4 week timeframe (which makes it Feb 3) that the IRS mentions on their website for mailed checks, then I guess I'll have to do the Refund Credit thingy on my taxes this year. Ugh.

I'm glad your parents received theirs finally. I live in SC. What state do they live in?

My "check" turned into a card, which arrived a few days ago.

I got nothing. I did get the first dd but nothing this time. I checked getmypament on irs.gov site and it says not enough info or I am not eligible. I don't file taxes this year but did last year. I'll have to wait and see.
My tax dude sent a group text to his clients today. He said that the deposits will be made on 2/15.

Yeah, that's another thing. I also read that there are people who received a check the first time who will be getting a debit card this time. The IRS site has a picture of what the envelope looks like, so it doesn't accidentally get tossed as junk mail. Glad you didn't throw yours out, SEA!!
The first time I got a check, on Friday 1/22 I got a debit card.
It is coming from: economic impact payment card, Omaha,Ne.
on the envelope in red it says" not a bill or an advertisement.
important information about your economic impact payment.''
I haven't received anything from the IRS as of yet. I was scheduled to receive it via direct deposit, of which the IRS confirmed the last four digits of my account on their "Get My Payment" option.
Today one housemate and I each got checks dated Jan. 6, Kansas City MO.
The other housemate should be getting direct deposit.

Stimulus check came today...it was a check and not a debit card, for which I am glad! Son and fam up in NC still haven't received theirs yet. Hopefully this week.
Sorry, I just saw this...they live in NY.

Still nothing for us. However, our son who lives in the same town as we do, received his check in the mail a few weeks ago. Three days later, he received another $600 check in the mail.

It seems to be a screwed up mess.
My check was mailed Jan 6, and was received yesterday, 1/26/2021. Friends in NC and family in SC also received their checks yesterday.
