Has anyone started spring cleaning? I started by buying sos pads, soft scrub with bleach and trash bags. I washed all rags and my shower curtain liner. Today I cleaned out my spice cabinet... checking the dates on all containers. Wow

Umm I’ve been doing that since March 2020. Pretty much sold, cleaned or donated everything already. What’s left is spotless, current and “sparks joy.”
It's not just me. It's everybody on FB has already organized their pantries and spices, since they have been home and sheltering in place for nearly a year. Last month, I was seeing "40 tasks in 40 days."@heather shops wrote:

No, I don't do spring cleaning. And it's not because my hose is immaculate, or very organized. It's less organized now than a year ago. Being home more and having no one come over = no incentive. LOL

Nice thread! Spring cleaning is not exactly what is happening here. My absurd, longstanding, and overwhelming sorting project is happening. Usually, it proceeds at the speed of molasses. Sometimes, I can make tremendous progress within one day. This must be broken down into sequential tasks and performed in stages so that I can be certain-- absolutely certain-- that I will not shred anything that is needed for taxes or other purposes. Obviously, there is a deadline for some of it. The rest of it will be finished after tax season. As work is completed and previously blocked areas are cleared, I clean them.

That is much more how I function. But there is also forethought and planning as I work through my home. My master bath is looking 'tired'. A few months ago I picked up new wallpaper and last month picked up new vinyl floor tile. At this point I am working through drawers and under sink area at a leisurely pace. Once that is done, the wallpaper will be changed and finally the flooring.
This is an ongoing process. Several years ago I cleared the family room and turned it into my office space. Last year it was going solar, including battery backup to keep my home habitable after power loss due to hurricane (last time we had no power for 11 days). Next will be rehabbing my screen porches to organized comfortable living spaces.
I don't call it spring cleaning. I clean and organize throughout the year as needed.

Exactly Flash! I was going to copy and paste the definition of spring cleaning. I did not want to start anything negative >>>but it has already been started. meow I have never done FB (Facebook) and never will, I am also not concerned at all with what other people throughout he world do.

Well there is a huge trend towards minimalism and reducing waste. Americans have too much junk in general.
That is why I use 4-5 local Freecycling sites to offer a huge variety of "stuff" that seems to lurk in every cranny of a house. What does not get snapped up there goes either to a charity shops or (as appropriate) a local shelter and "resettlement" program. Back when we has very active refugee resettlement programs in the area, they would pick up furniture and many things that charity shops not longer take, thoroughly clean, and deliver an amazing amount and array of "stuff." Those groups are waking up again, now that we will be accepting more refugees. And, they are back asking for items on local Freecycle sites.

I dread the wardrobe change process. I bet we will have many, many bags to donate as well as to sell by my girls. Placing unwanted items curbside works for us.
By the way, there is a surplus of cleaning and disinfection supplies because all the manufacturers really ramped up during the pandemic when everything was sold out. It’s a great time to find stuff on the clearance racks at the stores.
I changed all my pantry jars in the kitchen for spring cleaning. Changed them all to Ball Jars with plastic lids. My kitchen looks so much better!

I’m repainting all of my rooms either a soft greige or white, and organizing everything one room at a time. Already did one round of Marie Kondo a couple of years ago, going through another one in 2021.
Planning a big family reunion at my home in mid-July, so at the rate of one room every 10 days I’ll have it spotless by the time I have a houseful of guests (fingers crossed, COVID vaccinated folks only.)

Yesterday, I was inspired to change the one project to something else. I made donations and visited a nearby store that carries one of go-to products. When I came home, I felt no need to get rid of more stuff just then, Rather, I was motivated to carry on with the lingering projects so that I will soon be free to re-arrange the things that will stay here. I want them to be comfortable. This reflects more of a change within me than at home.
I chuckle at myself now. I can look around, see where the paint could be updated again, the flooring could be changed again, and three pieces of furniture could be donated and replaced with three from storage. My inner perfectionist has been so tamed that I can just look at those conditions and live with them instead of turning all of life upside down and inside out in order to fix something. I might have been spring cleaned. ?
