Venting about my week, just need a sympathetic ear.

Ok, I shop but thankfully it's the beginning of the month when I'm not so busy.
A) I called to check on my Georgia refund they said Ga Department of Labor didn't report the state taxes that they withheld from my PUA and federal supplement to the Georgia Department of Revenue. They tried to say I OWED them money! I had to submit my 1099G as proof!
B ) was supposed to pick up my old car from the shop Friday after putting a motor in it (2400 dollars in, 1400 labor +1000 for engine) less than a mile later the car lost all power. I had to drive it back at 5 miles an hour, an oversized power wheelchair! He put the code sensor on and said it was a simple part switch from my old motor to the new motor of the throttle body. Then Monday he calls me and says the block on the replacement motor is cracked and leaking oil. He tried to tell me I had to pay another 1400 dollars! Went down there Tuesday and had a long talk. still unsure of the outcome. I need to track down the receipt but haven't had time to look for it. Even if I can't put another engine in it, I want my k back for the motor.
C) I spent $3000 last week starting work on my first house, we are trying to put a roof on it. Went through several laborers. One side is stripped down and being repaired. But having some difficulty finding a good worker who will consistently work. Today was an extremely frustrating day. Two different workers no-showed. My foreman had to work on repairs by himself. I went down and found a laborer who spilled song and dance about God and acted so happy that I offered him the work. I dropped him off at the job site. Five minutes later my foreman calls me and says he's sitting down talking about he needs some food, he's tired. I get back over there and he says, he's wearing $200 shoes and can't work in them and tried to tell my foreman he would work (on the roof!) BAREFOOTED!!!! I was absolutely astonished. He tried to tell me that he told me about the shoes and I said he could go talk to the foreman about it! Again, I was totally astonished at his blatant lies. I had to take him back and drop him at the spot I picked him up and I wanted him out of my car so bad. I survived the trip back but was unable to find a worker for today. It's supposed to rain Saturday. I have one day left to get the roof back on, that side of the house. (This has me worried that I won't find a worker tomorrow again).
D) Before COVID, I was driving through this town here in Georgia called Reynolds. There is a known speed trap in Reynolds so you know to slow down to the speed limit. I drove the speed limit until I passed the location of the speed trap. I was waiting till I got out of town to speed back up. A cop pulled up behind me so I continued going the exact speed limit. Within five seconds he hit the lights. I thought he was telling me to get over but he was pulling me over. He gave me a ticket for "impeding the flow of traffic" which I disputed. So he took me to the next town county seat jail and made me sit there for an hour and wait for my husband to go get the money out of the only ATM in town and buy a money order at the only store in town that sold one for the amount of the ticket as bond. I went to court on the date on the ticket and said I wanted to plead not guilty and I requested a jury trial. It was transferred to the superior court at the county seat. they started jury trials back here in Georgia this week so I called my public defender. She tells me the ticket was dismissed. I had to call about five numbers back and forth between Butler and Reynolds inquiring about how to get my money back. Reynold's said that Butler never told them the ticket was dismissed. I called back over and had the dismissal faxed over to Reynold's. Then I called Reynold's back. Then she tells me she can't give my money back unless the district attorney send's them a paper telling them too. HUH??? (So you have to pay the ticket even if it's dismissed?) She said she's been there three years and in that time they have only given out ONE refund! I called the lady back in Butler to get the phone number to the DA's office and called the public defender back and left messages. The lady in Butler tells me that the DA that dropped the ticket is not with the office anymore so the new DA will not know anything about it. I want and need my money. I'm not giving up, which is what they want you to do.
I am so frustrated and angry that a city could even be that corrupt it blows me away. It's only a couple of hundred bucks so basically, most people will just give up. It's probably not worth legal fees but again I'm not going to give up I will file in small claims court if I have to or whatever court I have to. I'm tempted to file a civil suit with mental anguish! It's a matter of principle. If you speed you get a ticket. If you don't speed you still get a ticket! If it gets dismissed you still have to pay!! I hate Reynold's Georgia.
So needless to say I have had a stressful week.

Oh my goodness that was a week! I hope it all works out and I’m sending prayers your way!!! Hang in there this too shall pass..
AAA used to keep a list of towns that were 'speed traps' to warn their membership to stay away. I would call them--whether I was a member or not--to let them know about your situation.
Oh my! What an awful week! I'm so sorry for you! Hopefully in the weeks ahead, everything will straighten out. I sure hope so for you! ~hugs~
Wow, what a week! Thankfully, a new week is almost upon us. Hope it is a much better one for you, and you get your money back. Also, congrats on your first house!
Update: No change in A, B, or D. However, C I found out that all of Macon is short of workers. Not just me. The manager of labor finders told me that no one wants to work because they are receiving either unemployment or just got their stimulus. It's not just me. Thank goodness, my foreman was able to start the metal sheeting by himself and put up enough to save the ceilings. By himself.
On your motor, does your state have a department of consumer affairs? If they do file a complaint with them about the repair shop. Also it is the repair shops responsibility to inspect the motor before installing it in the car,and also they should have used new parts on it, not taken old parts off of the other motor. Since they failed to see the cracked block they have to give you another engine. This information is from my brother who has been a GM master mechanic for 60 years. and owns his own repair shop.
for D file a complaint with the DA if you have a reciept. if you dont thats that. its a known scam in a ton of towns.

shopping north west PA and south west ny
I have a receipt. Problem is it's been about a year and a half so it will take me days to find it. But it should be here somewhere I keep every d. thing. But I found the receipt for the motor that only took one evening to look for because it's only been a month. From what I read online, I am going to have to go to Butler, go in the courtroom and after the judge finishes his cases ask to say something. Tell him the situation and request him to order the refund. And I'm trying to contact the state reps for that district. I consider this whole thing a scam. I was passing a known speed trap and a cop pulled up behind me so I couldn't speed back up. I maintained the actual speed limit. So d.-ed if you do and d.-ed if you don't. I argued with the cop (at first) I said how can you give me a ticket for NOT speeding. So he detained me and made my husband get the money order and bring it to the jail to pick me up. But I went to court and plead not guilty and requested a jury trial, so eventually, the ticket was dismissed. Now you tell me I still have to pay the ticket even if it's dismissed that's corrupt and fraud. So one way or another they take your money. But I am going to go to Butler and try to talk to the judge.
I might consider notifying my state or federal officials. Your experience is outrageous. Others indicate that it affects residents and visitors. Is this one factor strong enough to inspire someone to make this type of behavior an interstate or federal crime?

Update: Roof is coming along fine. Foreman and different laborers put up the majority of the roof for the 2nd side. and the vent caps. So the roof is 3/4 of the way done. Foreman can make the rest of the repairs and paint the trim and install the flashing himself he said, to keep labor costs down. I don't have time to deal with the ticket refund situation right now till the first week of May. (End of the month inspection prices up and I need to run my routes, this is more important than 200 dollars that I already don't have the use of.) Talked to the salvage yard and was told they are trying to find me another engine. As for A, the state of Ga is so slow they haven't done anything yet!
While you are waiting for the state of Georgia, check out an oddball little film called 'Interstate 60.' You will feel better and possibly inspired...
