eBay charges a variable fee based on the item category. They pay daily I believe.

I have also sold on Facebook Marketplace. They charge 5% or $0.40, whichever is more. I like marketplace the best, but there are scams. They pay 5-7 days after the item is delivered.

I have not sold on Amazon.
When we have sold things on Facebook Marketplace the people always pay us cash when they show up to make the purchase. Same thing when we have bought stuff from other people. They don't even know if I have sold the item, let alone how much actually was paid. How would they possibly get 5% or $0.40 from me? The cash goes directly from the buyer's hand to mine. I am confused by your statement.

I have sold on eBay, and there is indeed a fee, and the money passes through eBay. Same for Amazon.

Shopping Southeast Pennsylvania, Delaware above the canal, and South Jersey since 2008
I used to sell a lot on ebay. They now have strange customer service rules that encourage fraud among customers so inclined. They have gotten bold and creative with frauds--ordering high ticket items, then complaining about being sent a piece of paper onstead of the item, entitling them to a refund. Try getting your chargeback money! Ebay and cc companies now require police reports, etc. Lots of hassle. I havent sold there in years for this reason.

If you decide to sell anywhere online and ship to customers, be sure to record a movie of yourself putting the item in the box, sealing it, and get an image of the final boxed item ready to go. Be sure to take it to the post office or ups/fedex and wait while they scan it into their system. Keep receipts and track the item. Do what you can to protect yourself.

Facebook market place has shipping orders for most categories. They charge the fee on shipping orders. If you sell locally via pickup, no fee is charged.

I’ve found that my items move quicker on Facebook marketplace (shipping orders) than on eBay. I can easily pick up a shop to mail the items priority so it’s a win, win, win.
I sell on Ebay and Amazon some. Things do not move as fast as they once did. It really just depends on what you are selling for whether or not it's lucrative. I've sold some items that ran around $650 (designer shoes) that made me tremble at the thought of them being returned damaged, but it turned out OK. I can't make a living off of it. And sometimes I have made mistakes in purchasing things that then sat around a good long while. But most things are whatever I purchased for myself that I never wore or don't like anymore.
I've been selling on ebay since 2003 and Bonanza since 2005.I used to do very well with sales on ebay, but these past several months my sales have gone way done, ebay has been making all sorts of changes to the categories sections. I started selling on Mercari about 4 months ago and now my sales are better on there, then on ebay.
