Buying a used cell phone?

Any one have advice about sites for buying pre owned cell phones? My trusty iPhone, that was a hand-me-down a few years ago, needs so much updating and repairs I was advised by Apple to spend $50.00 more and buy a new one.
The only reason I started to use a smart phone was for mystery shops that required photos, or needed an app.

Any hooo I can select features I want BUT I'm leery of buying a used phone from 'some site' online.
I trust members here to understand that I would rather buy a used phone without every bell and whistle. Sigh--I really really liked the Gallexy flip phone I shopped a while back but can't justify the price for something that has way more features than I will ever use.

I did about half a dozen shops for used cell phones on eBay. They came from several different companies. I was really impressed with the quality of the used phones and with their return policies. If you like the iPhone that you currently have, search for it on eBay. Pay attention to the reviews of the companies selling the phones. I personally would not buy a used phone from an unknown private seller.

Our main phones are two iPhone 6S's that we bought about a year ago on eBay. Before that we were using iPhone SE's (2016 moedl) bought used off of eBay. I paid $50 each for these 6S's, and they are in excellent condition, and work great.

I like old iPhones, because unlike Android's where there are dozens released each year, iPhone only releases one or two, and they are all premium quality. If you aren't involved in the cell phone scene, it can be very overwhelming to start researching Android phones... much easier to pick an iPhone. Old iPhones (6S and up) are amazing deals, IMO.... great quality, great photos, and great performance.

The iPhone 6S goes up to iOS 15, which was just surpassed this year by iOS 16, but I still don't foresee the 6S having any compatibility issues for several more years. If you want the latest iOS, iPhone 8 is the cutoff for it.

I've bought about 8 used iPhones off eBay over the past few years, and they have all worked excellent for me. I had one that had some cosmetic damage that wasn't disclosed, and I returned it to the seller for a refund. Other than that, zero issues.

The Cell Phone Dude on eBay. Clean EINs, slightly used phones. If a Samsung 23 is out now, I would buy a Samsung 21.

Another option is Freecycle.

For about the last 12 years all of my Android phones have been bought online, refurbished, about 2-3 years old when purchase. Full warranties included. The prices for new models are CRAZY! I have also, in distant past, bought a refurbished Android phone at local Verizon store. No problems with any of these.

as long as you buy something with a clean esn and a well rated seller you shouldnt have problems. apples are a pain unless you have a mac computer. androids are so much more user friendly.
