The Decency of the Day (for the appreciative of heart)

Obviously, we can start with the existence of this forum. It is excellent to provide basic and advanced information as well as the myriad of perspectives that round out our IC views. That is decency!

Today I was such a ditz, having provided a wrong delivery instruction and routing my stuff to a neighbor. This error remained for months until today, when I found the 'edit' function and updated information. First, tje store personnel were attentive and followed through with the stated plan for the situation. Second, my neighbor brought my stuff to me. Everyone was kind and thoughtful. That is decency!

It would be decent if people posted their decency stories...

I'm game. I have a decency story.

About ten days ago I sold an electronic manicure set to a supposed buyer in Georgia. A few days later, I was notified that the buyer filed a fraud alert with their financial institution. I checked the tracking number, and the package showed it was in Dallas, TX. This package should not have gone through Dallas. I called the USPS toll-free number and spoke to "Terry." Come to find out the package had been rerouted to an address in Texas, presumably by the buyer. I requested a package intercept, hoping the USPS could reroute the package back to me. As I watched the tracking number, the package went from Dallas to Nashville, so I thought I was good. I checked the next day, and it was in Chattanooga. That was not good. I had already researched and learned that Chattanooga was the regional sorting facility for the rural small Georgia town that it was supposed to go to in the first place. I called the tiny post office in Georgia and explained what was going on to the lovely southern lady that answered. She was sweet, called me "hun," took down the information and said she would make sure the carrier did not deliver my package. Sure enough the next day, I called her back, and she had my package and was going to send it back to me. She also told me she was not going to bill me for the package intercept or return postage. I got my package back Saturday, reported the buyer, and hopefully they are banned before they try to rip off another seller. I would like to thank "Gina" and "Terry" of the USPS for being kind and going above and beyond to help me. Both showed decency. smiling smiley

I did a Target run with #1 and #3 last night. Made a stop at our local supermarket. I stayed in the car while DDs ran in. Watched a woman get out of her car and leave her trunk open. Opened the door to warn her. She waved as she was OK and went back to her car with a shopping cart and packed (returns?) in the cart. Well, car alarm went off and I couldn't tell if it was ours. So, it blared, blared and she looked over twice and said she was sorry. I opened the door and said, "Is it me?" Yes! She walked over, said she appreciated my trying to warn her and pushed the ignition to turn the alarm off. I felt so silly but asked DDs if this ever happened to them and they said, "NO, Mom."
We were on vacation and my daughter started vomiting after taking a dip in the hotel pool. I was in the room and my husband was with her. While he was trying to comfort her, another guest cleaned up the vomit near the pool, bought towels, and a damp cloth for my daughter. I was so touched. I didn't get the opportunity to thank her but yes, there are so many decent people out there.
So the June's Journey is unyielding in some ways, such as those unforgiving timed searches. On the other hand, it is sooooooooo decent that there is no internal judge who would track or jeer at our feeble early. efforts. I do not need to hear about my one dairy and zero lactates, or my seven water-bound features that are occupying space until I advance in the game or otherwise figure out what to do with them. Can we star businesses, such as storage for water or seasonal items for other players? Will we be able to obtain livestock for the dairy? These features would also be decent...

So, I got off the gondola and stepped into my skis. Nope. The bindings were about 3 cm bigger than my boots! Closer look, not my skis!!!

Did I bring Hubby's old skis? He doesn't think so. Did I grab the wrong skis off the rack before getting on the gondola? They were right beside Hubby's. Did someone grab mine?

Did I mix them up last May and have the wrong ones stored away since?

Some light will be shed on it when I get home.

Today, three staff listened to my story, phoned all over to find if someone was looking for missing skis. One remembered a skier who was left with the wrong skis last year, but no details on the skis.

They were patient and helpful as we tried to puzzle this out. There are patient helpful people.

They took the skis to hold onto in case someone came looking. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Prince that happened to my husband a few weeks ago! He noticed he was wearing someone else rental skis. Many phone calls and a lot of agonizing later he returned the wrong ones and finally the correct ones were found. All he ended up being responsible for was $20.00 late return fee. We will never know if he grabbed someone elses or vice versa.
I was sure I wasn't the only one who ended up with the wrong skis! LOL
My dad used to put old green house paint on our skis. lol

More June's Journey decency. On Feb. 28/29 there is an opportunity on Facebook to compete for 1,000 diamonds. You can also see your name rise on the leaderboard if you perform well in competition. I cannot participate because I do not do Facebook. This is great for the winner! Is it decent that somehow I got in a league? Think it happened when I drifted off to sleep and phone fell on thumb which was conveniently situated near this new and unexpected league icon...

Yay! Half of one outstanding medical bill from last year has been written off and they will work with me to pay off the remaining balance. I didn't even ask... *cries grateful tears again*

So decent! June's Journey has provided cows, grass, and enclosure materials for my critters. They are 'curious' and it is important to keep them away from planes, trains, and automobiles I mean boats...

*eta* now we need another decency... i seem to have misplaced one waterfall column and one stream. Two waterfall columns together make a statement, and three streams together are notieable and accommodate fly-fishing...

Yay! I found more waterfall columns. Apparently, you can just click one unit endless time until you have created a large and impressive structure.

This falls more into the grateful category, rather than decency.

Today I ran into an elderly gentleman (88) I know in a thrift store. I met him a couple of years ago when he bought an old microwave I had listed in the newspaper. It was the middle of summer, so I was giving out bags and bags of vegetables and tomatoes to whomever I could. I offered the gentleman some, and he gladly took them. He gave me his number and asked me to let him know if I had more later in the summer. We became casual friends since.

Last summer he came over several times to pick up vegetables from me. He was walking slowly due to an issue with his hip, and he told me he hesitated to have surgery for it due to his age. I had not talked with him since last October, so I called him a few weeks ago to check on him but reached his answering machine instead. I didn't hear back from him, and had actually done a search for his obituary because I was concerned he may have passed away. sad smiley So, after 2 yard sales and an estate sale this morning, it was a little too early for lunch. I decided to duck into a thrift store. That's where I ran into the gentleman. He looked great for 88! I hugged him, and he apologized he had not returned my call because he forgot. No worries, I told him. I was thankful to see him, and that he seemed to be doing well. I thought he was walking better, though he never had surgery, and he said his hip still hurts most days.

In the Hindu world, robotic elephants are replacing live critters in festivals. This change will respect animals as well as humans while including an important symbol in religious tradition. Must now find out if they use robotic critters in other ways. Inquiring minds want to know...
