I have a laser printer with toner cartridges, but what has impressed me are the sales I see with Office Depot when you have joined their loyalty club. They send emails out about their special sales and the prices on toner cartridges are quite good so I suspect their ink cartridges on such sales would be quite good as well. I don't keep close track because a toner cartridge lasts me about a year.
On occasion I have noted Walgreens with a special on refills for ink cartridges. It seems to me that their regular cost is $14 for a refill.

If you stay with ink carts, have them refilled as Flash has stated. Refilling ink carts is a booming biz. Many places like Walgreens, Office Max and independants refill them...

The best place I've found are online places that sell generic, such as www.123inkjets.com. Right now, they're having a 15% off sale, with the promo code SUNNY123. I've used this place and one other for years, for two separate HP printers, and never had a problem with compatibility (you put in the brand and model you have, and it pulls up the correct cartridge.) Personally, I prefer this to the refills, though I know that many people like those as well.

Like Flash, I got rid of my ink printer and have a laser printer, industrial strength. In the first year I saved enough on ink to pay for my printer! It does not print color, but that's a small sacrifice, lol.
Try to find refurbished HP or Dell laser "all in one" machines (print, fax, scan, copy" on ebay, etc, for terrific savings. If you want to keep your color laser jet for special occasions, fine. but it is not a serious work printer for business.

And the laser all-in-ones show up in places like the clearance corner of your office supply place when the new models come out. They show up as super clearance when they were out of the box as demo machines for a few weeks. My workhorse HP3015 was an eBay special, new in box, a few years back when it was an "old" model. Some of the older ones like mine don't work with Vista but they work very well with Win 7. Mine has no internal wireless card so I have a little external wireless device for it. But the lack of internal wireless and the incompatibility with Vista was why it cost only slightly more than shipping.

cheapest sight i have found by far... plus through dealsucker you get 21.6% cash back... looks like it takes about 2 months for the cash back to register... its paid through paypal..and yes i have been paid before..
i bought a pack of 3 (1 color 2 black) generic XL cartridges for 57 bucks (shipping included for my hp all in one they do show up as a ? on the screen for the ink but print perfectly)... waiting on 11.48 in cash back... so 15.33 per cartridge...
oh yeah fun site to look for cheap stuff too... its basically a site that loads all the deal a day websites into one page, plus some random sites, and some of the stuff ships directly from china.. i bought a motorola bluetooth headset (looks like an old set of earphones with out the line and can double as earmuffs lol) to listen to music and make calls... they were 39.99 shipped and i saw an international package from hong kong one day and they were there...i dont think anyone can send a letter much less a package to china for that price...

I have an old Canon 3 in 1, scanner, printer and fax. With the tremendous amount to print nowadays, I am going to the library twice a month, they have free printing. The city took over the state library, and put in state of the art computers, printers this has been great....my ink cost is next to nothing. now. Not buying anything new for this business, since it is so unpredictable.

my library is less than state of the art... 10 cents a copy is unbeatable... i did run into a problem trying to print my taxes... it overloaded the printer memory and it refused to print... so i cut it down to 1/2 and still same problem... cut it down to 1/3... still... finally said forget it and went to print on my own... i could have sent it one page at a time but that would have take way to long...

I've always liked Carrotink.com, but they didn't have my latest Canon's cartridges. I need to check back. What I really want is a laser printer for paperwork, though!
I always Check Office depot, if you call they can price match. They always have coupons too.

- Open a Staples rewards account (free).
- Take in 10 cartridges per month to staples and you will get a $20 coupon every month (around the 15th) in your staples rewards account. These coupons can be printed from home.
- Use coupons to buy ink.
In this simple scenario you pay 50 for the used cartridges and get 300 in coupons at staples. As a bonus these coupons come off before taxes are applied.
Search slick deals and you can see some people have taken this simple method and via coupons and specials actually earn cash doing this. The best deals on these are usually only for HP Ink.

Office Max pays $3 per used cartridge, any size or type. The payment is in the form of credit to my rewards account, and can be used like cash in the store or online. I've let my rewards build up, and plan to spend them on the upcoming tax free weekend.
shoot.. no wonder charities are taking cartridges... i wonder how much they are really worth if staples is giving a credit of 3 dollars...

Well, figure how many remanufactured cartridges sell for just a few dollars less than OEM ones, so around $12 for some.

So is the Staples deal only good for HP ink? I have a Kodak all-in-one so need Kodak ink. I'd invest $50 anytime in used cartridges and take them in 10 at a time. No problem. But I need to be able to get Kodak ink with my rewards card. That would be awesome. Wouldn't need to do those dang $10 Best Buy shops anymore!

Staples will take 10 cartridges back per month and will issue you a reward that you print on about the 15th of the following month. The reward can be used to buy ANYTHING (including Kodak ink) you want at Staples. They are valid for 3 months.
Office Depot and Office Max have restrictions in place that make the scheme more difficult to work there.

Those of you with Chase debit or credit cards that earn rewards, always check the Ultimate Rewards when shopping online. I just earned 15 points per dollar on my ink purchase at 123inkjets. That ended up being about $8.50 off my order when I consider the points' monetary value. I'm trying to remember to always check Chase first when ordering online.
I usually get coupons in the mail for $20 OFF $100 from both staples or office depot. I order my cartridges when I receive the coupon. I use ebates.com and get money back as well.
